Abstract
This report covers research on the impact of green architecture and how and
why it should be implemented. The report also covers a survey and edited into
spreadsheet and database on how the people feel about green architecture.
Lastly it contains a conclusion and, discussion and findings of the data collected

Introduction
Green architecture advocates for the conservation of energy, the reuse and
safety of buildings and the construction of a building and its impact on the
environment. This report centres on the importance of this green job. I have
chosen to investigate on the barriers which influence the growth of green jobs
and how it can be implemented in places like South Africa. There are common
factors which influence green jobs include the cost and influence and people’s
perceptions. People often fear change and so some are still sceptical on the
replacing of old architecture with the new green architecture.
The purpose of this investigation is to understand the influence of green
architecture and the people’s views as well as to look out for barriers and how to
implement the innovative way of thinking. I have investigated the trends and
affect (advantages and disadvantages) and whether green-architecture can
sustain both the environment and the economy. I have also investigated the role
in common people’s lives and their opinions. The problem is how to fit green
architecture into our daily lives.

Task Definition
The current situation is that we need new, environmentally friendly structures
since the worst environmental footprint is done by large industries and
infrastructure. The purpose of my investigation is to get green architecture
recognised and to find out how green architecture can be beneficial to the
producer and consumer and the environment. I will firstly conduct a written
report mostly of research and then send out a survey, compile the results into
excel, reports and queries and lastly create a website. The target audience is
aimed towards young entrepreneurs or the youth that wants to go into
architecture or engineering.

Focus Question
How can green building architecture be introduced and made effective in
benefiting the environment in SA?
