How to install and set up the

XO Melya Blogger theme


About
A responsive theme that you can easily implement into your own Blogger blog! With a fixed navigation bar, customisable read
more button, customisable back to top button, sharing buttons and six matching social media icons. Choose right sidebar or left
sidebar, change the fonts and colours, adjust the width and customise the template to suit you! Template is fully responsive and
passes Googles mobile friendly test.

1. Backup old theme
Start by backing up your current template, so you’ll have it in the future if
needed. From the Dashboard, click Theme. Then click the three dots and
Backup.Rename it so you can find it in the future.

2. Install new theme


From the same section (Dashboard > Theme > Three Dots), click Restore and
Upload. Find the folder you downloaded, select the XML file and upload. See an
error? Refer to FAQ.

3. Setting up theme

About me blurb
On the Dashboard click Layout, click Edit under the Profile gadget “About Me”.
Choose the options you want displayed on your blog or remove the gadget if
you prefer. Your image will automatically appear full width.

Popular posts
On the Dashboard click Layout, click Edit under the Popular Post gadget. Select
your display preferences and save. Thumbnail Images will automatically show
in full width and in full quality!

Navigation menu
On the Dashboard click Layout, click Edit under the Pages / Links gadget
“Primary Navigation” and choose which pages you would like to display in your
navigation. You can add external links to display social media links, links to other
blogs or website or even post labels to be shown as categories.

Make responsive or mobile friendly


To turn on the mobile version of your theme, go to theme and click the three
dots. Select Mobile Settings. And choose Mobile. TUTORIAL

To turn on responsive design, go to theme and click the three dots. Select Mobile in the Extra Tutorials folder.
Settings. And choose Desktop. The design will now adjust to the size of the users
screen automatically.
Social media icons
On the Dashboard click Theme > Edit HTML. Click into the HTML Editor and press
CTRL F or CMD F on your keyboard. Search for social icons and hit enter. You’ll be
brought to the following code.

Replace the URLs and usernames with your own so it looks like the
following

Click Save once you’re done.


Customise width, fonts + colours
On the Dashboard click Theme > Customise. This will bring you to the Template Designer feature.

You’ll be able to adjust the width of your layout by clicking Adjust Widths. Click the Advanced tab on the
left. Here you’ll see a list of elements that you can change the color of and the font used. You’ll see a
preview of the changes. To save the changes click the Save icon in the lower right corner.

You are welcome to add your own customisations to the theme, by adding extra HTML or CSS if needed.
You can add/remove any gadgets you like and rearrange them in the Layout tab.
Swap sidebar position
Two templates have been provided for you, one with a right sidebar and
one with a left sidebar. If you decide later on that you want to swap sides
you can follow this tutorial instead of reuploading the other template.

Go to Theme > Edit HTML and search for the following line

Click the arrow on the right to expand it and locate the following
highlighted code

If you want a right sidebar change it to the following

If you want a left sidebar change it to the following

4. Frequently asked questions

Q. Bloggers admin navbar is gone from the top of my blog, how do I login?
Simply login via blogger.com and select your blog. You can switch the admin navbar on / off by going to Layout > edit Navbar.

Q. I am getting an error when I try to upload my theme?


Firstly, make sure you are uploading the XML file found within the folder you downloaded and unzipped/extracted. If you see the
following error notice:

We were unable to save your template. Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML
elements are closed properly. XML error message:

Try switching to a different web browser and it should work for you.

Q. There are links in the navigation that I don’t want, can I change these?
Yes, you can add/remove any pages, links or labels you like. You can do this in the Layout tab on Blogger and editing the gadget.

Q. How do I add my blog title/tagline?


Go to Layout > edit Header Gadget. You can edit the Blog Title and Description here. You can also upload your own header/logo. If
you do not see the Header gadget, click Add a Gadget > Header.

Q. Will I lose content when I upload the theme?


All of your posts, content and gadgets will remain on your blog when you install your theme. However, I strongly recommend that
you backup your blog as shown before installation.

Q. What is the license of the theme? Can I remove the credit link in the footer?
The theme is for personal use only. You may not use it for client sites, re-sell or re-distribute the theme in any form or through any
means. You must keep the link in the footer for as long as you are using the theme.

are for personal use only and may not be redistributed or sold. You do not have the rights to resell, redistribute, reuse or duplicate
the theme. You are strictly prohibited from removing or altering the copyright notices on the bottom of each theme, from
claiming the work as your own, from sharing the theme or any design elements that we provide with a third party.
