The essays showcase how practice theory can help spatial scientists generate new and future-

oriented insights on debates such as mobility, relationality, and forms of critical spatial practice. In
this way, the book reinforces a specifically geographic and spatial account that is needed for the
development of practice theory while also shining new light on current debates within practice
theory on power, politics and space. The book positions practices as the point of departure to study
and conceptualize socio-spatial life.

Hanna Carlsson is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Geography, Planning and

modes of governing and responding to migration-related diversity.

Organized around the latest CACREP standards, Counseling Theory: Guiding Reflective
Practice, by Richard D. Parsons and Naijian Zhang, presents theory as an essential component to
both counselor identity formation and professional practice. Drawing on the contributions of current
practitioners, the text uses both classical and cutting-edge theoretical models of change as lenses for
processing client information and developing case conceptualizations and intervention plans. Each
chapter provides a snapshot of a particular theory/approach and the major thinkers associated with
each theory as well as case illustrations and guided practice exercises to help readers internalize the
content presented and apply it to their own development as counselors.

A more advanced understanding of the role of social work in a range of health adult and healthcare
services settings will be provided, including adult safeguarding and mental health Social Work. The
role of social work within multidisciplinary teams will be a key focus of the module. The module
design includes integration of theory and practice and a number of teaching methods will be utilised
including lectures, guided learning, case studies and workshops.
The module will build on the foundation teaching provided in Adult Services 1 and provide an
advanced understanding of areas such as; care planning, general and mental health, disability,
ageing and dementia, adult safeguarding and addiction. A more advanced understanding of relevant
policies and legislation pertaining to these areas will be outlined including the Assisted Decision-
Making Capacity Act (2015) and key Mental Health Legislation with a strong focus on application to
practice through case study examples. Students will be facilitated to examine their own attitudes
towards these topics through smaller discussion groups and interactions with service users from
addiction, mental health and dementia settings. Assessment, ethical issues and dilemmas which may
arise in these areas will be discussed and explored.
