Jack Calibration Procedure 1
Jack Calibration Procedure 1
1. Scope
The Utracon Structural Systems Pvt Ltd hereby establishes procedures for Jack calibration with
Stressing pump and pressure gauge and load cells etc., used in post-tensioning operations.
2. Equipment Required
3.1. General Service of Stressing Jack and stressing Pump to be done before calibration
3.2. Calibration of jacks with loading force capacity up to 50 ton performed by means hollow Load Cell
3.4. Ensure the level of oil in the stress pump and check any leakage in QRC coupler.
3.5. Oil seal and oil ring QRC coupler should be checked in the Stressing Jack
3.6. Check the ram Area and conform the same in general service

4. Procedure for calibration:
3.7. As picture represented the setup with the calibration strand, HT strands is inserted. In the bottom
bearing plate is locked with wedges and in the top. First Load transmitting circular Plate, second
Hollow cylinder load cell (C6A HBM # 172930020), third Load transmitting circular Plate fourth
stressing jack is inserted and arranged in the center line with load.
3.8. Connect the jacks to the pumps. and the ram shall be extended 75%
3.9. The capacity of the HT Strands maximum breaking load is 260.7 KN.so maximum applied pressure
shall be divided into 8 equal increments for the calibration. As below mentioned in Sample
1.1. Keep things and persons away from the line of jacks
1.2. While giving 50 kg/ cm2 in pressure gauge using stressing pump the load will be transmitted to Load
transmitting circular and to hollow cylinder load cell. Which is connected to Digital load indicator.
1.3. Digital load indicator will display the applied force from the jack.
1.4. Stress the strands by increments and note the readings from the pressure gauges from Pump. With
average of Standard Load cell Reading / Obtained load from Digital load indicator multiply by 100
1.5. All calibrations shall be accurate within ± 5% of the applied load, i.e., the indicated load shall
5. Calculation
Applied Pressure:-The reading in any units of the applied pressure. (P) (Kg/cm2)
Effective Area:-The effective surface area which the applied pressure is acting on. (A) (cm2)
Generated Force:-This is the resulting force generated by a pressure acting on a specified size of
surface area and can be displayed in a choice of different force measurement units. (F) (Kg)
If you want to calculate the force you will need to multiply the kg/cm2 value (which is a pressure) by
