Purpose

The DiaSys software is required to communicate with MTU components such as ECU-7,
SAM, AKC and ignition system. Main functions of the DiaSys software:

 Data exchange with central database

 Setting governor parameters

 Recording data

Note: This PowerPoint presentation mainly contains information regarding the use of
DiaSys in connection with engine governors. The functions described require a level 1B
(customer service/distributors) or level 1C (test stand) dongle.

Terms and definitions (1)
ADEC  Advanced Diesel Engine Controller
This term is not used in the document at hand. Instead
"ECU-7" is used.

MDEC  MTU Diesel Engine Controller

EMU  Engine Monitoring Unit

SAM  System Automation Modul

DILA  Diagnostiklampe

Dialog system DiaSys 2.50
Terms and definitions (2)
FSW  Functional software. Governor operating software.
DiaSys cannot be set to online mode unless FSW has
been downloaded to the governor.
MPS  Engine parameter set. These are engine governor
operating parameters.
Local database  Files or databases relating to an engine number which
have been stored locally on the PC. This data can be
intended for the governor or the central database.
Central database  Data (FSW and MPS) for each engine number is stored
in a central database in Friedrichshafen. This database is
also referred to as "governor database".
CCS  Compatibility Check System. Allows checking of
interactions between objects (software and/or hardware)
and visualization of object characteristics.
Hardware key (dongle) Contains various user-specific information and has an
expiry date. Starting three months prior to that date, a
reminder to this effect is displayed after each DiaSys
start-up.

30.06.2010 Pfad\Dateiname 5
Dialog system DiaSys 2.xx
Terms and definitions (3)
Online mode  The PC's serial / CAN interface is
connected to the governor and a
data connection with the governor
has been established.

Offline mode  1. The governor is not connected

to the PC's serial / CAN interface.
Data connection to the governor has
been interrupted (office mode).

2. The governor is connected to the

PC's serial / CAN interface but the data
connection to the governor has
been interrupted (programming mode).

Data feedback (2)
If the local database contains data sets which have not yet been reported back and a new data
set is to be downloaded from the central database, data feedback must be carried out first.
This data feedback can be "voluntary", i.e. the data sets are selected by the user, or it can be
forced automatically by DiaSys.
If the user decides to report back all data sets now that have not been reported back previously
this may be very time-consuming.
If the user decides not to report back any data sets an automatic forced feedback is carried out.
This function times out after 16 minutes.
4 minutes for ADEC data sets.
If the local database contains more data sets than can be reported back in this time (max. 4
ADEC data sets in 16 minutes), these are reported back next time the connection is established.
If the user decides not to report back all data sets designed to be reported back (partial
selection), the data sets selected by the user will be reported back first. Depending on the
remaining time X a forced feedback will be carried out nevertheless. The maximum total time for
this function is also 16 minutes.
