JOINT BSP/GSP INVESTITURE CEREMONY

I – Introduction:
It was in 1906 when Lord Stephenson Smyth Baden Powell initiated the scouting
movement to foster and develop independence, discipline and love of nature to young boy and
girl. Since then, scouting made a great impact to young boys and girls alike. This very day, we
are celebrating a memorable moment in a boy’s and girl’s life, to be welcomed into the Boy
Scout organization and Girl Scout Organization.

II - The entrance of colors: Ladies and gentlemen, the entrance of colors.

III – Entrance Ceremony: Ladies and gentlemen, let us welcome the candidates for investiture as
they approach the ceremonial ground, followed by the faculty members, our guests with a
resounding applause.

Felipe: We would like to offer this moment to the Almighty Father through a prayer through multi-
media presentation.

Paul John: Scout Salute!

Felipe: Ang Pambansang Awit ng Pilipinas.

Paul John: Ready front!

Felipe: Ang Panunumpa sa katapatan ng Watawat ng Pilipinas to be led by Scout Liza Mae Udarbe.

Liza Mae: Scout Sign! (Ang Panunumpa sa katapatan ng Watawat ng Pilipinas, sabay-sabay!) Ready
front!

Felipe: To formally welcome us to this ceremony, May I call on Mrs. Mercedes M. Javier our School
Principal for her welcome address.

VI – Ceremony Proper:
Felipe: We are gathered her tonight to welcome to the scouting movement the new members
of the troop. To start with, the principal candle will be lighted. To do the honor, may I request
Mr. Samuel C. Fostanes, Wood Badge Holder and at the same time our District BSP
Coordinator. Sir!

VII – Candle lighting (3 candles)


Felipe: Scouts all over the world live by a code – the scout oath. This scout code describes the
three duties that every Scout embraces the moment he/she becomes a scout. We will now
lighting the three candles that represents these three duties. To do the honor, May I request
Mr. Samuel C Fostanes, WBH, Mr. Ritchie Balili, WBH, and Mr. Felix Vivares, WBH.

First Candle: (lights the candle) HIS DUTY TO GOD: We, who belong to the scout movement
believed in GOD. We may not all worship Him in the same way, but we are one in one faith
that He alone, reigns supreme, Our Lord Master.

Second Candle: (lights the candle) HIS DUTY TO OTHER PEOPLE: Our country, the Philippines
deserves our full love and dedication. The pages of our History are brightened by our
outstanding deeds of self-sacrifice and love of our country of great men like Jose Rizal,
Marcelo H. Del Pilar, Apolinario Mabini, Adress Bonifacio and others. We do our duty to our
country by being noble citizens, by following the laws of the land, be preserving its dignified
traditions and culture and by active taking part in nation building.

Third Candle: (Lights the candle) HIS DUTY TO HIMSELF: It is our responsibility to develop
ourselves into productive young citizens. We should strive to discover our potentials and share
our talents to others.
VIII – CLOTHING OF NECKERCHIEF:
Felipe: The scout uniforms identifies as a member of the scouting movement, a worldwide
brotherhood and sisterhood of scouts existing more that136 countries. It also identifies you as
persons of character, ready to serve others. It symbolizes as well the ultimate unity of purpose
and preparedness for outdoor life, strongly reminding you to live in accordance with the scout
ideals.

Felipe: May I request the parents to help us Initiate our young boys and girls to this noble cause
through the ceremonial clothing of neckerchief to the scouts. (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts)

Felipe: With that neckerchief, we welcome you to the scouting movement. May you always
remain true to the ideals of scouting.

IX. INVESTITURE PROPER:

Felipe: May I call on Mrs. Cheril C. Tamsi for the presentation of the candidates for investiture.

Paul John: Scouts Attention!

Cheril: Fellow scouts and scouters, I have the honor to present to you the candidates for
investiture of Cagbungalon Elementary School. School Year 2016 - 2107. _______ Boy Scouts
and _______ Girl Scouts a total of ______ scouts ready for investiture.

Felipe: Scouters, you have presented yourself before men and asked to be made scouts. Is
this your wish now?

Candidates: Sis, Yes Sir!

Felipe: In this ceremony, you will belong into a troop and into the scouting brotherhood and
sisterhood. Before you, are the lighted candles that represents the spirit of scouting. The law of
the Troop is the Scout Law. It is known and followed by millions of scouts. By being here, you
will learn and follow this law too.

Felipe: The declaration of the 12 points of the Boy Scout Law.

1. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 1 st point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout is
TRUSTWORTHY. A scout tells the truth. He keeps his promises. Honesty is a part of his Code
of Conduct. People can always depend on him.
2. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 2 nd point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout is LOYAL. A
scout is true to his family, friends, scout leaders, school, and nation and world community.
3. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 3 rd point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout is HELPFUL. A
scout is concerned about other people. He willingly volunteers to help others without expecting
payment or rewards.
4. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 4th point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout is FRIENDLY.
A scout is a friend to all. He is brother to all scouts. He seeks to understand others. He
respects ideals and customs different from his own.
5. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 5 th point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout is
COURTEOUS. A scout is polite to everyone regardless of age and position. He knows that
good manners make it easier for people to get along well together.
6. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 6 th point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout is KIND. A
scout understands there is strength in being gentle. He treats others the way he wishes to be
treated. He does not harm nor kill creatures needlessly and strives to serve and protect life at
all cost.
7. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 7 th point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout is OBEDIENT.
A scout follows the rules of his family, school and troop. He obeys the laws in the community
and country. If he thinks these laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly
manner rather that disobey them.
8. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 8 th point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout is CHEERFUL.
A scout looks at the brighter side of life. He cheerfully accomplished tasks that come his way.
He tries to make others happy.
9. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 9 th point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout is THRIFTY. A
scout works his way to help others. He serves for the future. He protects and conserves
natural resources. He carefully uses his time and property.
10. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 10 th point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout is BRAVE. A
scout can face danger even if he is afraid. He has the courage to stand for what he believes is
right even if others laugh at him or threaten him.
11. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 11 th point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout is CLEAN. A
scout keeps his body and mind fit and clean. He helps keep his home and community in order.
12. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 12 th point of the Boy Scout law: A boy scout I is
REVERENT. A scout is faithful in his religious duties. He respect he beliefs of others.

Felipe: The declaration of the 10 points of the Girl Scout Law.

1. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 1 st point of the Girl Scout law: A Girl scout honor is
TRUSTED. A scout tells the truth. He keeps her promises. Honesty is a part of his Code of
Conduct. People can always depend on him.
2. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 2nd point of the Girl Scout law: A girl scout is LOYAL. A
scout is true to his family, friends, scout leaders, school, and nation and world community.

manner rather that disobey them.
8. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 8th point of the Girl Scout law: A girl scout is SELF-
RELIANT. A scout looks at the brighter side of life. She cheerfully accomplished tasks that
come his way. He tries to make others happy.
9. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 9 th point of the Girl Scout law: A girl scout is THRIFTY. A
scout works his way to help others. She serves for the future. He protects and conserves
natural resources. Shee carefully uses his time and property.
10. (Lights the candle) I bring life to the 10th point of the Girl Scout law: A girl scout is CLEAN IN
THOUGH WORD AND DEED. A scout can face danger even if he is afraid. She has the
courage to stand for what he believes is right even if others laugh at him or threaten him.
Felipe: You have heard the twelve points of the Boy Scout Law and the ten points of the Girl
Scout Law. Do you accept this law as a scout and do you promise to do your best and live by
this law?

Boy/Girl Scouts: Sis Yes Sir!

Felipe: In unison, let us recite the Boys Scout Oath and Law. Scout Sign! (recite) Ready front!
In unison, let us recite the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Scout Sign! (recite) Ready front!

Felipe: Declaration of members for Boy Scouting Movement, May I call on Mr. Samuel
Fostanes, WBH, District BSP Coordinator.

Samuel Fostanes: Now that the candles are lighted, let us be reminded that it is the spirit of
the scout oath and law which now light our steps. May this spirit be with us, now and forever.
By the authority vested in me as WBH and BSP District Coordinator of Liloan District, I declare
you as members of the Boy Scout of the Philippines.

Felipe: For the declaration of members for the Girl Scout Movement, May I call on Mrs. Arlene
C. Cadayona, District GSP Coordinator.

Arlene Cadayona: Now that the candles are lighted, let us be reminded that it is the spirit of
the scout oath and law which now light our steps. May this spirit be with us, now and forever.
By the authority vested in me as GSP District Coordinator of Liloan District, I declare you as
members of the Girl Scout of the Philippines.
