Definitions and Examples of different types of Sentences:

 Simple Sentence: A sentence with one independent clause.


Example: I like ice cream.
 Compound Sentence: A sentence with two independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction
(for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so).
Example: I wanted to go to the park, but it started raining.
 Complex Sentence: A sentence with one independent clause and at least one dependent clause.
Example: Although I was tired, I finished my homework.
 Compound-Complex Sentence: A sentence with two or more independent clauses and at least one
dependent clause.
Example: Although it was raining, we went to the park, and we had a great time.
