In English, I’ve been doing my best to meet all of the expectations that have been placed on me, even though it’s been hard with our teacher being
gone for so long. I believe I deserve an "E" in all of the learning goals because I worked hard, showed responsibility, stayed organized, worked well
independently, collaborated with others, took initiative, and regulated my learning goals to stay on top of my education.
I always take responsibility for all my work. Even if it’s something small like homework or a bigger assignment like a presentation, I always make sure
that they are done and handed in on time. When Mr. Manello was still here, I contributed to every single discussion, making sure I put in effort, met
the deadlines, and helped as many people as possible improve on their writing or analyzing. Since he’s been gone, it’s been hard to keep up with
the assignments because we’re not getting proper instructions, and there is a communication gap between us and the office about our work, but
I’ve been talking with my classmates and even students from the morning class to stay on top of this course. Even though this transition has been
weird and tough to handle, I’ve kept up with my work and have not been slacking off in class, despite all the temptation.
I also try to show initiative by taking more steps to make sure that I fully understand the material handed to us. If I find something I'm not clear on, I
ask and check in with my classmates for help. Even if the task is hard, I don’t avoid it. Even though the substitutes do not have much information
about our situation, I still try to ask them questions to help me grasp whatever I can about the assignment or the situation. This entire ordeal has
been quite a challenge, but challenges like these are perfect opportunities to learn and grow.
When it comes to organization, I always set goals every single night for the day ahead and try my best to stick to them. I use some external help like
asking my classmates for some feedback, or use textbooks to stay organized and to make sure that I don’t fall behind in any of my courses. I try to
make sure that I manage my time well so I don’t miss any deadlines, and I stay on top of my work so it doesn’t pile up.
I’ve always been able to start tasks right away when I come into class with minimal distractions. I don’t need to set constant reminders to stay on
top of a task and I can focus on getting things done without having a lot of supervision. This allows me to work on all of my assignments on my own
without needing too much help from the teacher, which is perfect in this case since we have different substitutes, throughout the week.
I think collaboration has always been one of my best abilities. When we had group assignments while Mr. Manello was here, everytime I made sure
to contribute my ideas and my point of view and try my best to help my team move forward. I always try to create a positive atmosphere where we
can all share ideas without fearing the idea of rejection so we can work together to solve problems. Even now, I try to help my classmates if they’re
struggling with any piece of work, especially right now as we don't have any authority figure in the class so we lack clear instructions. I also ask for
the substitute's help when I need help with my own work if I'm not understanding something and try to fill them in with what's happening in the
class right now.
I practice self-regulation by setting myself some personal goals and taking small steps everyday towards them without expecting someone to tell me
what or how to do it. I sometimes take some time to reflect on my strengths and weaknesses and try to make adjustments to them where I feel like
it's needed. This helps me improve and stay on the right path and keep growing and become a better me.
Overall, I think my efforts in all the areas of—responsibility, organization, independence, collaboration, initiative, and self-regulation—show you
that I’ve earned an "E" in every category.
