Research Instrument

The study will be using a structured close-ended interview questionnaire to gather

data from the participants. According to Cleave (2023), a structured close-ended interview

questionnaire is defined as documents designed to collect data from respondents through fixed

response options. The researchers find this instrument to be the most appropriate for their

study because it utilizes close-ended questions that can provide quantitative data related to

their study. The questions in the questionnaire that will be provided by the researchers are

research made.

The questionnaire will include five (5) questions, primarily focused on the study's

objectives, with some demographic questions included. The demographic section will ask

participants about their age and gender, while providing the option to include their name if

they want to. As for the last three (3) questions will focus on the participant’s mobile device

usage, screen time, and their GPA. This will help gather relevant data regarding how these

factors may relate to their academic performance.

Validity shows how well an instrument measures what it is supposed to, ensuring the

results are accurate and relevant. It is confirmed through evidence that the instrument aligns

with what it aims to assess (Olson, 2017). The study will be utilizing a construct validity as it

concerns the extent to which the test or measure accurately what it's supposed to, stated by

Bhandari (2023).
Ranganathan et al. (2024) states that, the reliability or precision of a research instrument

refers to the consistency of the measure. To test the reliability, the instrument will be validated

by teachers and experts in the field to ensure that it is both valid and reliable. The signatures of

the validators will be shown as proof that the instrument or questionnaire has been validated

and approved by experts.
