Structure of the manual Introduction

Supplementary documentation
Instruction manuals in several languages are available for the operation of the
base devices, which contain also a description about the CMD.
These manuals can be ordered from our print partner. They are also available
in the intranet.
Usually the manufacturers' original manuals for OEM components are included
in the shipment. They may contain more detailed information.

Manual release
Since production began, some components have been replaced for various
reasons (e. g. progress in technology, cost reduction).
Often the hardware replacement does not result in a changed construction of
the device (mechanical or electrical) or the functional integration.
In this case, the new component is added to the service manual and the
previous component remains in the respective chapter.
If the integration of a new component results in changes, the corresponding
chapters will be adapted (e. g. removal/installation, preventive maintenance,
etc.).

Introduction Description of the device

Description of the device

Function and use

The most important component of a cash-out automated teller machine is the

Cash Media Dispenser (CMD). The CMD in version 5 (V5) makes it possible to
accept the cassette versions basic (BC), midrange (MR) and high end (HE) of
the new CINEO product family. It is not compatible to the old CMD cash-out
cassettes of the CMD V4. Only the reject/retract cassette is compatible to the
CMD V4, but this eliminated the option to use the reject/retract cassette of the
CINEO product family.
The CMD V5 needs for the most part the same installation space as the CMD
V4.
A banknote toning technique can be realized via the high end cassette. There
are several manuals available for this. The ink staining system of the CMD V4
environment cannot be installed in the CMD V5.

01750214538 A Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 1-7

Description of the device Introduction

In the following are essential features of the Cash Media Dispenser listed:
High level of functional reliability (low reject rate, double dispenses
recognition)
High level of user-friendliness and maintainability:
Electrical and mechanical adjustments were minimized
Maintenance intervals of two years or after 200.000 transactions
All known requirements of environmentally compatible recycling and
disposal were met.

The CMD can be customized in the respective device version to the needs of
the users because of the different model versions (Frontload/Rearload) and
because of a variable number of dispensing units (up to 6 cash-out cassettes
and one reject/retract cassette).
The CMD V5 consists of the following components depending on the features
in the device:
Stacker with or without single reject
Output transport horizontal/vertical Rearload/Frontload
4-cassette housing with a double dispensing unit or two double dispensing
units
1-cassette with single dispensing unit
CMD controller
Cash-out cassette BC or MR or HE
Reject / retract cassette
Shutter

i The single reject function can only be delivered in countries out of the
European Union.

Introduction Service functionings

Service functionings
i The tests of the components are performed via the Diagnostics &
services plattform (D&S) or via the T/SOP.
KDIAG Qualifying plus is only used transitionally or for test tool
specialists.

HW Inventory
A considerable increase of efficiency in the service processes is the goal of
the HW Inventory function (electronically readable inventory data of the FRU).
Nearly all field-replaceable units (FRU) are electronically identifiable via the
stored data in the component.
HW Inventory data should be available for operators or technicians in remote
supervised systems as well as on-site at the system.
The data quantity depends on the type and on the manufacturer of the
component.
This data or a subset of it is also printed on the new module label as plain text
/ 1D barcode and 2D data matrix code. The WNS 60414 standard describes
the new FRU module labels.
The data is saved on the system unit (PC) in the form of an encrypted xml file.
This file can be displayed on the device via T/SOP and is used for data
transmission to the CRM system.

With respect to HW Inventory data, a distinction is made between two FRU

groups:

01750214538 A Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 1-9

Service functionings Introduction

Complex components
These FRUs are preponderantly of WN manufacture, e.g. electromechanical
RM3 cash components, main and component electronics, etc.
An EEPROM with defined structure is integrated here with correspondingly
extensive data that is primarily generated during production. The EEPROM is
located either directly on the control logic or with components on the chassis
that do not have logic boards of their own and is wired with the rest of the
sensors and actuating elements.
The so-called data triple of the FRU is the core component.
Part number
Serial number
Revision level
Other data such as operating data, repair data, manufacturer parameters or
configuration data is stored, depending on the FRU.
If FRUs are loaded and operated with the WN firmware, there is always a
Firmware Compatibility Key (FCK) in the EEPROM that displays the
mechanics and electronics configuration of the FRU. This means the firmware
can react to specific features of the electronics and mechanics.

With exception of the content

Module State (revision level)
Allocation Number (allocation code when there are several POS/ATS at
one control computer)
Position Code (allocation code for sidecars)
HW Inventory data in the field cannot be modified.

1-10 Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 01750214538 A

Introduction Service functionings

Simple Components
These FRUs are preponderantly OEM purchased parts, e.g. card readers,
monitors, scanners, etc.
The minimum requirement is the availability of the data triple of the FRU.
Part number
Serial number
Revision level
The data triple is generated from the manufacturer information saved in the
module. If the manufacturer does not save the WN part number directly in the
EEPROM, it will be generated for inventorying using a reference table (OCCT).
Die OEM Component Conversion Table (OCCT) is saved on the system unit
(PC) of the basic system. It needs to be updated with every new release of
FRUs. This is processed at the system by the D+S platform or T/SOP, if
required.
Only the revision level of the Simple Components in the HW Inventory data
can be updated in the field.

The electronic readability is based on the functioning of the D&S platform that
is delivered with each system as a standard component of the platform
software. The interface to the D+S platform is implemented through the T/SOP

To guarantee matches between the electronic data and the module

i label data, no electronics or EEPROMs in the FRU in the field should
be removed or replaced if they are not themselves defined or available
as an FRU.
The FCK that as a result no longer matches the hardware/electronics
can lead to a failure or undefined erroneous function of the FRU.

CrypTA

Testsoftware for systems with ProBase

With the introduction of the CINEO systems, the previous software structure
with CSC/W as lowest driver layer is replaced by the program package
ProBase.
ProBase includes the functioning of the CSC/W and J/DD as well as the XFS
layer. As a service-relevant function serves the D&S platform which is a base
for all service functions. On top of that is the T/SOP, which acts as a local user
interface between system and technician. It consists all the necessary
functions for testing and diagnostics. So the T/SOP replaces the usage of
KDIAG which was necessary in the predecessors.
T/SOP and D&S platform are integral parts of each installation.

Access protection for T/SOP functions and test software

With the introduction of the CINEO and ProCash 8xx0 series of products, the
fusing of the test function against unauthorized usage was also introduced.
All functions regarding to the test software are encrypted with the CrypTa
security system.
This is based on a USB dongle called CrypTA stick as a key for the technician.
In this CrypTA stick are the for the technician because of his level of training
important individual rights for the usage of the available test functions saved.
The rights management is processed centralized by Wincor Nixdorf.

Authorization in the T/SOP

A test function for the operator which is not protected by CrypTA is available
for all components. Further test functions need an authorization of the user for
the T/SOP as well as a assignment of the corresponding rights.

Usage of offline test tools like KDIAG or Qualifyingplus

This tools are always encrypted and need in every case the authorization
through CrypTA as well as the assignment of the corresponding rights.

Further information to the CrypTA security systems are avaiable in the intra
and partner net under the keyword "CrypTA".

Trusted computing / Safe channel

In the case of the CINEO systems in the self-service environment,
communication between the components provided for this option (e.g. RM3
Controller, card reader CHD V3x (CHD V2CU)) and the system unit (PC) can
be optionally secured with the "safe channel".
To accomplish this, the components suitable for this function (e.g. RM3
controller with installed chip card) and the PC provide each other with
certificates for reciprocal authorization. In order to ensure that the certificates
on the PC side cannot be used and copied at will, they are protected by a key
in the TPM module on the system board of the PC.
In order for this to work, the PCs are customized at the factory, which means
that the key in the TPM chip and the necessary certificates are created.
For security reasons, the key never leaves the TPM chip.

01750214538 A Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 1-13

Service functionings Introduction

TPM Simulation
A special version for the safe channel exists for the CMD-V5 that manages
without a TPM. This version is available exclusively for older systems in which
the CMD-V5 is retrofitted.
In technical terms, this version is marked by two main differences. First, a
different certificate chain is used, which means that a different chip card has to
be installed in the CMD-V5 as well. The chip card for the TPM Simulation is
orange in color, while the standard chip card for the safe channel is white.
Second, the cryptographic keys and certificates on the PC side are not
protected via the TPM, but rather via specific characteristics of the PC, as a
result of which the key memory cannot be copied to other PCs.
This TPM Simulation is available exclusively on Nixdorf PCs without TPM. No
installed Infineon Professional Package is necessary for the installation for this
reason.
The Restore procedure is nevertheless necessary, even if no data is retrieved
from the flash memory of the main board of the PC, because the computer-
specific alignment of the key memory takes place during this procedure. It is
for this reason that the procedures are also not changed in comparison with
the standard solution with TPM in the event of servicing.

Procedures
To guarantee the operability of the safe channel, it is necessary that
mandatory defined procedures be observed during initial operation and
servicing.

Initial start-up
The following graphic shows the general process at the time of initial start-up
of an RM3 device with the safe channel.

Service functionings Introduction

The following steps are necessary

Where Step Comment
Field ProSetup (OS + First the operating system with all
driver + IPP) necessary drivers are installed at the
customer site. This also includes the
Infineon Professional package. This
takes place preferably integrated via
ProSetup.
Field Installation and ProBase is installed and (on the basis
configuration of of HWCONF) configured.
ProBase
During configuration, the keystore is
retrieved from the flash of the PC by
default and the necessary configuration
of the IPP is executed.
Any keystore that may possibly already
be present is not overwritten.
Field T/SOP import As an alternative to the precious point,
keystore, TPM Restore information can also be
config from flash selected from the flash via the T/SOP.
Field T/SOP BKR The basekey replacement with the
respective component (e.g. RM3) is
initiated via a T/SOP function.
Communication with the respective
component will function afterwards.
Depending on the configuration and
device, the basekey replacement can
also take place automatically without
the support of the T/SOP.

For other cases of installation, e.g. installation via image tanking, the
processes must be modified accordingly.

Complete PC replacement
The "Complete PC replacement" use case requires the same handling as with
the first installation.

The popular shortcut performed during the service process for replacing the
PC in the field, by which the old hard disk is reinstalled in the new PC,
corresponds to the service process "Replacement of the system board
(motherboard)".

01750214538 A Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 1-17

Service functionings Introduction

Replacement of the system board (motherboard)

After the replacement of the system board. the keystore that matches the
system board must be restored from the flash. After a second basekey
replacement, the safe channel also runs to the respective component (e.g.
RM3).
This procedure also applies if the whole PC is replaced WITHOUT the hard
disk.

Hard disk replacement

The "Hard disk replacement" use case requires the same handling as with the
first installation.

Component replacement (e.g. RM3 Controller)

If the component (e.g. RM3 controller) is replaced, then the Smartcard is
removed from the defective component and installed in the new component.
The keys remain unchanged, so there are no dependencies on the safe
channel.

Service functionings Introduction

Importing the truststore

The PC becomes personalized with individual certificates during production.
These certificates are stored in a truststore. This truststore cannot be used
except with the TPM of the same PC.
The truststore is stored in the flash memory of the system board in order to
ensure that the it is not lost after a disk fault or a reinstallation of the operating
system. In order for it to be able to be used, it must be evacuated back to the
hard disk and introduced to the software; this procedure is called "restore".
There are two ways for this
Way Meaning
With If ProBase/C or ProBase/J is stalled and the following
ProBase/C or conditions are fulfilled, the restore runs automatically during
ProBase/J the installation:
installation - TPM=YES is set in the HW_CONF.INI and the automatic
configuration is active and
- the Infineon Professional package is installed
via T/SOP After the authorization at the T/SOP, Restore can be
selected in the device functions.
Automatic at ProBase/C1.1/30 can also be configured in such a way that
the time of the restore automatically takes place if necessary at the
system start time of system start.

The Restore must also be carried out when TPM Simulation is used, although
the above steps do not take place.

Basekey replacement
In the following situations, a basekey replacement must be performed so that
the two communication partners (component (e.g. RM3 controller) and system
PC) can exchange current cryptographic keys and converse with one other:

At the time of initial start-up

After a restore procedure, e.g. after a reinstallation of the operating system

After a chip card replacement in the component (e.g. RM3 controller).

After utilization of the component (e.g. RM3) from a different PC.

After the authorization at the T/SOP, the BKR can be selected among the
device functions with some devices (e.g. RM3).

Service functionings Introduction

Handling the TPM

BIOS setting
When the PC leaves the factory, the TPM chip is in the "Enabled and
Activated" state.

Any change in this status (in the BIOS as well as via the Infineon Professional
package) will cause the deletion of the secret key in the TPM, so that the PC is
no longer usable for capacity protection between RM3 and system PC. A
change of this status can also occur if the TPM itself assumes that it is under
attack and deletes its content for security reasons.
If someone deactivates or clears the TPM and reactivates it afterwards, a
secret key will again be in the TPM, but this one will no longer match the
certificates in the flash memory of the system board. A check to see whether
the key is still correct can currently only take place at the time of the initial
operation of the component with the safe channel.

1-22 Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 01750214538 A

Introduction Service functionings

Every PC has a individual key in the TPM. This means that the key and
certificate memory on the hard disk also require an update in the event of a
system board replacement. To accomplish this, the restore function that is
included in the product range of ProBase 1.1/10 or higher must be used to
copy the key and certificate memory to the hard disk from the flash of the
system board, see section "Importing the truststore".
An update of the BIOS or a battery replacement has no influence on the
personalization and the state of the TPM.

i The correct time must be set again after a battery replacement.

CINEO cassettes can be used across systems within the CINEO product
family. Different functions of the CINEO cassettes come into effect within the
various systems, which are specified in the following section.
CINEO cassettes are used for storing deposited banknotes and for storing
banknotes for withdrawal. The CMD-V5 only uses the withdrawal function of
the CINEO cassettes.
Different cassettes are available in various versions:
Standard cassette
Compact cassette
Both cassette versions are available in a Basic, Midrange or High End
configuration.

The CINEO Basic cassette includes the following functions:

Limiting value
The banknote toning technique is activated or deactivated, respectively, when
the set limiting value of a CINEO High End banknote storage is exceeded or
fallen short of.
If the amount (the value of the money) in the CINEO High End banknote
storage is below the previously defined limiting value, the banknote toning
technique will be deactivated. If the amount exceeds this limiting value once
again at a later time, the banknote toning technique will be reactivated.
The limiting value for the CINEO High End banknote storage can be
i defined with the help of the application program - Cash Supply
Manager (CSM).
The limiting value can be configured for different currencies.
The limiting value 0 means that the banknote toning technique will always
remain active, even when the CINEO High End banknote storage is empty.
Defining a limiting value can help to prevent an inadvertent triggering of the
banknote toning technique.

Timer
The following timers can be defined:

Transport timer
This timer defines the maximum time permitted for the transport of the CINEO
High End banknote storage from one location to another, e.g. from the CINEO
D1000 to the automated teller machine, before the banknote toning technique
is triggered.
You can set the transport timer with the application program - Cash
i Supply Manager (CSM).
A timer time of 0 means that the timer is set to indefinite, and thus will
never run out.

Open safe timer

The timer is activated when the safe door of the cash device is opened.
It defines the time that a user has to close the safe door once again in order to
set or remove the CINEO High End banknote storage before the banknote
toning technique is triggered.
You can set the Open Safe timer with the application program - Cash
i Supply Manager (CSM).
The Open Safe Timer is deactivated as standard.

Alarm timer
An acoustic signal is audible shortly before the banknote toning technique is
triggered.
The timer defines the time during which this signal is audible before the
banknote toning technique is triggered.
You can set the alarm timer with the application program - Cash
i Supply Manager (CSM).

Case timer
The case timer is adjustable only during the "CIT with Case" process.
The time for the transport of the CINEO High End cassette after removal from
a transport safety container (case) is set at this timer.
It shows how much time remains for returning the CINEO High End cassette to
a safe environment (e.g. to slide it into a safe or into the CINEO D1000
Docking Station) after removal from the transport safety container before the

Handling the CINEO cassettes

This section describes the following procedures:
Removing and inserting cassettes
Opening and closing cassettes
Filling and emptying cassettes
Resetting the tamper indicator (version-dependent)
Setting the banknote width and height

Safety instructions
Make sure that cassettes are not damaged or dropped during transport.
When cassettes are transported in vehicles they must be secured to
prevent them from sliding and being damaged by other objects.
Protect the cassettes against moisture during transport.
Allow cassettes which have been in a cold environment sufficient time to
acclimatize before they are used to prevent condensation.
Caution: Danger caused by moving parts. Keep fingers and other parts of
the body away from the designated danger zones.
Insert the cassettes in one uninterrupted motion until you can hear them
lock into position. Do not push them in jerkily, as this could damage the
cassettes or the cassette guide.
Never pull a cassette out while the system is in operation, because this will
immediately result in a banknote jam.
Consider the weight of cassettes prior to removal.

Settings Device Overview and operation

Settings

Fundamentals
The adjusting dimensions regarding the banknotes as well as the setting
procedures for the CINEO cassettes are described in this section.
You can use the CINEO cassettes of the CINEO portfolio across
systems within the CCMS. You need to set the cassettes like recycling
cassettes, so you can use the CINEO cassette via the CMD V5.

If the CINEO device is configured with preset cassettes, they will be

adjusted to the ordered currency in the factory and then delivered.
If there are changes, for example a new banknote format is introduced
or if the device shall be operated with another additional currency, the
settings need to be check and, if necessary, changed.
The reliability for the CINEO device is only guaranteed if the setting is
changed as stated in this manual. If not, banknotes could be damaged
or banknote jams could occur.

Banknotes in the following formats can be processed in CINEO devices with

CMD V5:
Banknote thickness: 0.08 mm (0.003") 0.12 mm (0.005")
Banknote width: 105 mm (4.13") 182 mm (7.16")
Banknote height 58 Mm (2.28") 85 mm (3.35")

Furthermore, this restriction applies:

Greatest banknote width – smallest banknote width 60 mm (2.36")

The banknote width has to be set before the cassette is used for the
i first time or when a different currency or denomination is used in a
cassette.
Remove any banknotes before you set the banknote width.

Device Overview and operation Settings

Setting the CINEO cassettes to the needed

banknote size

i The setting of the CINEO cassette depends on the respective

configured cassette type.
The following cartridge types of the CINEO cassettes are possible:
– Recycling cassette
– Deposit cassette
– All-deposit cassette

You cannot insert an all deposit box or a deposit box in the CMD V5.

If the bank's administrative staff did not classify the cassette type,
configure the CINEO cassettes like a recycling cassette.

Setting depending on the banknote width

The side limits in the cassettes can be set to 11 positions:

pos. 0 = outer (max. width 196 mm (7.72")) to pos. 10 = inner (min. width
116 mm (4.57")).
The width you need to set depends on the biggest banknote of the
currency that the device need to process. After this banknote, all CINEO
cassettes that are used in a network are set to this width.

Description of the components

Memory chip (EEPROM)

In order to ensure the highest level of compatibility between the individual
hardware components and the firmware, the relevant components have been
equipped with an EEPROM that contains information about the mechanical
(FCKM) and electronic (FCKE) hardware variant. These are physically
mounted to the respective component.
If the single hardware or firmware levels are incompatible, the CMD controller
reports that to the product-specific software. The software decides if a
firmware update or a hardware replacement is necessary.

CMD controller Description of the components

Measurement of the banknotes with the multiple-

note detection unit
The multiple-note detection unit (DDU) in the CMD V5 is located in the upper
dispensing unit. The dispensed notes deflect two tracer levers equipped with
magnets during the transport. The oppositely arranged hall sensors generate a
signal analogous to the note thickness during this process.
The CMD controller obtains the banknote length and the banknote thickness of
new note types from a banknote table stored in the JDD.
With the multiple-note detection unit, it is possible to recognize good single or
valid double banknotes. Notes with measured values that vary too greatly from
the nominal values for single or double notes are recognized as faulty and may
not be issued to the customer. A faulty note is temporarily stored in the single
reject switch compartment in such cases (if available). Notes that are too
crooked (more than 11°) or long-fanned multiple dispenses are no longer
permitted to be stored in the single reject boxes. These are directly transported
via the stacker wheel into the clamp and subsequently trigger a bundle reject.
In systems without a single reject function, each bad note triggers a bundle
reject.

Description of the components CMD controller

Component control

Dispensing unit control

The dispensing unit control is divided into:
Logic for dispensing clutches, retaining spring magnets and cassette
stepper motors
Photosensors for dispensing sensors and cassette empty sensors
Pressure measurement including cassette available sensor
The control for a maximum of three double dispensing units or for two double
dispensing units and one single dispensing unit or for a maximum of three
single dispensing units is to be found on the CMD controller.

Cassette control
Note contact pressure

The pressure is generated by a stepper motor. After the required value is

achieved with a current of approx. 0.8 A, it switches to the holding current of
approx. 0.3 A.

Cassette ID

Every cash-out cassette has a serial EEPROM 64 x 16 bit in the connector

housing to share parameters. Only one cassette is selected during data traffic.
Serial data traffic can proceed after the supply voltage is switched on for the
selected EEPROM.

Control of the shutter module

An optional shutter module can be connected to the controller. The control of

the shutter is integrated on the CMD controller. It is comprised of the following
parts:
Shutter motor driver
Receiver for the two shutter sensors
Control of the photosensors in the shutter

Stacker Description of the components

Stacker
The stacker with retract function is on the upper rack. The stacker serves all
output types. The configuration depends on the output transport. The single
reject function is installed in countries outside of the European Union.

The stacker collects impeccable notes in the stacking position of the clamp. If
the Single-Reject function is present, then rejected notes will be removed
individually (a maximum of two 'bad note' per transaction). In the absence of a
Single-Reject function, the rejected note will be removed by a Bundle-Reject
function and placed into the Reject/Retract cassette.

2-76 Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 01750214538 A

Description of the components Stacker

A bundle output from the stacking position of the clamp is controller by the
routing disk. The clamp is closed with the help of the routing disk.
The clamp transports the bundle, guided in gear tracks, to the respective
position. The drive motor for the drive system is mounted on the clamp.
The routing disk determines the path of the clamp. It aligns itself in accordance
with the requirements. If the clamp reaches the customer cash-out position,
the bundle is transported somewhat out of the clamp. This takes place with the
help of the installed belts which are controlled by a separate drive motor on the
clamp.
A bundle of notes can be transported from the customer cash-out position and
into the retract box of the reject/retract cassette by the retract function. The
stacker can transport bundles from the stacking position to the customer cash-
out position or into the reject/retract cassette or from the customer cash-out
position back into the retract box of the reject/retract cassette, where they are
stored unsorted. The number of storage events is counted (presuming there is
a corresponding output transport).
Optionally, a bundle can be retracted and stored in the stacking position of the
clamp. If this option is used, however, no further device operations are
possible until the bundle is removed by an operator and the software has
canceled the lock.
The drive system of the transport belts in the stacker (except for the clamp) is
provided by the main motor that also drives the dispensing units.
The reject/retract can be simply be pushed into the stacker. It engages in
place and is locked in the final position. The cassette position is checked by a
switch. To remove the cassette, it must be released with a lever on the
stacker.
The main motor can be swung away for the purpose of accessibility to the
single reject compartment.

units and distributor board

Each quadruple rack consists of four cassette mountings and at least one
double dispensing unit with a multiple-note detection unit. The second double
dispensing unit without a multiple-note detection unit is then used if more than
two cassettes are configured.
The multiple-note detection unit must always be in the upper dispensing unit.
The pressure of the banknotes on the extractor shaft is evaluated with a
pressure sensor. The note dispensing proceeds by means of downward
friction. The dispensing unit extracts only one note at a time from the bank
note cassette and transports it to the stacker. Two sequential notes have a
defined minimum distance from one another during this process. Subsequent
notes are held back by a retaining shaft that is actuated by a magnet.

Description of the components Double dispensing unit with DDU

Double dispensing unit with DDU

A pendulum dispensing shaft is installed for the note dispensing. The drive of
the extractor shaft is provided by the central motor as well as a magnetic
coupling for each extractor shaft. At one end of the extractor shaft there is a
pressure sensor through which the note contact pressure and the message
'Cassette pushed in' are checked. A forward motion of the notes is brought
about by an additional roller in the cassette. Preliminary separation is achieved
by means of an extended inlet slope in the cassette.
The cassette can readily be pushed into the rack with dispensing unit(s). They
engage in place and are locked in the final position. The cassettes can be
unlocked with the release lever on the rack.
Voltages and signals from the controller to the cassette are redirected through
the cassette connector.

Description of the components Double dispensing unit with DDU

Adjustment eccentric
The adjustment eccentric is part of the dispensing unit with which the
dispensing gap (V gap) can be set.
There are three settings for the
eccentric: Setting A, B and C.
In new deliveries, they are always set
to position A. If a replace dispensing
unit is supplied, its maximum setting
is B.

If the double dispenses from a single cassette in the CMD V5 become more
frequent, the V gap on the corresponding dispensing unit can be decreased by
increasing both eccentrics (respectively to left and right of the shaft) by one
step, e.g. from A to B. If the V gap is set too high, than no dispensing from the
corresponding cassette will be possible.

Double dispensing unit with DDU Description of the components

Photosensors in the dispensing unit

The message DMx_PS2 (Photosensor empty (cassette empty message)) is
triggered if there are no longer any banknotes in the cassette. The
photosensor ray is guided back to the receiver in the dispensing unit through a
prism in the pressure carriage of the cassette.

Pressure sensor
The pressure sensor (DMx_PS1) provides the position as an analog value and
thus the pressure of the extractor shaft.

Description of the components Cassette handling

Cassette handling
If a new cassette was inserted, the dispensing pressure should be build after
that. If the dispensing pressure is not possible, you can hear an acoustic
signal three times.
After this, the data of the cassette memory is read.

The following data is stored in the cassette:

Cassette ID
The 7-digit value contains the serial number of the cassette if it gets
delivered. It can be set customer-specific by the system.
Currency characteristic
This is a 3-digit currency characteristic acc. to ISO 4217 (codes for
representation of currencies and funds) e.g. EUR.
Release date
The release date of the bank notes contains an additional 4-digit ID (YYMM
of the edition). This allows the CMD to process notes with the same
nominal value but different note properties.
Denomination
This value determines the denomination of the bank note (8-digit).
After cassettes were replaced, the new cassettes need to be confirmed by the
system software. If this is not happened, the dispensing commands for the
corresponding cassette positions will be rejected (the state of the cassette
remains 'new inserted').

Processes in the CMD V5

Start-up behavior
With Reset or after the power up, you can check whether the CMD V5 is ready
to operate, but this can only work if the command has been executed without
errors!
After a device reset the CMD V5 is in a defined state.
After the performance of a command, the detection of the first error is
cancelled. Error causes can be detected with the D&S platform (see chapter
"Troubleshooting").

Controller test
During the reset the same routine runs as during the power up. But the
controller test will not be performed. The controller test needs approx. six
seconds.

Firmware test
The validity of the downloaded firmware is checked.

Memory reset
The internal markers are reset.
In addition to the general storage area, there are also program and parameter
areas, which contains remains even if the supply voltage fails because of a
support battery.

01750214538 A Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 3-15

Processes in the CMD V5 Start-up behavior

Determination of the device type

With the help of the connected components on the controller board via the
corresponding connectors, the device type gets automatically determined
(quantity of dispensing units, shutter available (yes/no), output direction).

Checking the cassettes

First type and quantity of the available cassettes are determined. The values of
the cassette storage are compared to the internal data. If there are differences,
the corresponding cassettes get marked as 'new.'
To operate correctly, the device requires a minimum of one ready cash-out
cassette and the reject/retract cassette.

Checking the transport paths

If there are or were bank notes in the customer access, at first a retract is
performed.
If there is a bundle in the clamp during the reset, a bundle reset is performed.
After the output transport was emptied, the transport motor is switched on for
approx. five seconds. All determined notes are transported to the reject
cassette.
Then an init is performed.

Checking the shutter

If one is installed, the functioning of the shutter is checked by opening and
closing of the flap.

01750214538 A Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 3-16

Processes in the CMD V5 Dispensing

Dispensing
Checking the basic condition
A check is run to determine if:
the transport paths are free.
all requested cassette positions are ready and logged on.

The requested number of notes is subtracted from every cassette via the
system interface. The dispensed notes are transported to the multiple-note
detection unit.
All 'good notes' are stored in the stacking position of the clamp. If a 'bad note'
is recognized during the dispensing, a bundle reject or a single reject is
performed after that (depending on the configuration). The dispensing
command gets repeated.

Dispensing ends when:

the required number of notes has been achieved.
a cassette empties during a dispense process.
the requested number of notes cannot be presented in one minute.
the note dispensing is not possible from a cassette.

Multiple dispense/note dimensions outside the

tolerance values
If the multiple-note detection unit recognizes double or overlapping notes, that
is a 'multiple dispense.' In this case the dispensing command is interrupted
until all notes have reached the clamp. Then a bundle reject is performed.
Finally, the dispensing is repeated.

01750214538 A Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 3-17

Processes in the CMD V5 Dispensing

Undefined notes
If more notes reach the stacking position of the clamp as were dispensed, a
bundle reject is performed. Thereafter, the original command is repeated.

Dispensing of notes not possible

If the CMD-V5 does not succeed in dispensing a note, the dispense
transaction is initiated again.

Banknote jam
A banknote jam may occur during the dispense process. If a note jam occurs,
power is applied to the transport motor for approx. another two seconds. This
ensures that transportable notes reach the stacking position of the clamp.
After this a banknote is dispensed from the bottom cassette and transported to
the stacking position of the clamp.
If the note reaches the stacking position of the clamp, the transport route is
empty again. A bundle reject is performed. In a standard dispensing, the
original command gets repeated.
If the note does not reach the clamp, this process is repeated twice.
Afterwards, a non removable banknote jam is clearly ascertained. There is no
further device operation.
But an inspection is mandatory; the note jam needs to be removed by hand.
Correction must be completed with a reset.

01750214538 A Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 3-18

Processes in the CMD V5 Transport

Transport
With the transport function, dispensed notes can be output or stored in the
reject/retract cassette.

The generic term 'transport' sums up the following functions:

Transport in standby position
Bundle reject
Cash presentation (incl. waiting for the removal)
Cash output
Cash retract with storage
Cash retract without storage
Shutter test / open / closed

Transport in standby position

This command is performed by the actual cash output. With it, the note bundle
is transported from the stacking position of the clamp to the standby position.
Which is right before the shutter.

Bundle reject
This function is used to transport note bundles which were not yet in customer
access, to the reject box.

01750214538 A Cash Media Dispenser Version 5 - Service Manual 3-19

Processes in the CMD V5 Transport

Single reject
This function is only available, if the systems were delivered in a country out of
the European Union.
If a 'bad note' is recognized during the dispensing, this note gets rejected and
a spare note gets dispensed. Max. two banknotes per transaction can be
stored in the single reject box. After a completed transaction, the notes in the
single reject box get transported in the reject/retract cassette.

Cash presentation (incl. waiting for the removal),

cash output
Before the transport, the shutter is opened (if available). After this, the notes
which were in the parking position get provided to the customer.
The further handling is controlled by the system.
Cash out-put
In this case, the note are provided for so long until all photosensors are
free.
Cash presentation
The notes are transported until the bundle is in customer access. After this,
it waits for the removal.
After the note output, the shutter gets closed and the clamp goes back to its
stacking position. The function ends, if the shutter is completely closed and the
clamp could reach its stacking position.
If single notes were parked in the single reject switch, they get transported by
the clamp in the reject box of the reject/retract cassette.

Cash retract with storage

The bundle is transported to the parking position at first with this function. The
shutter is closed. After this the notes are stored in the retract box of the
reject/retract cassette.

Processes in the CMD V5 Transport

Cash retract without storage

Function see section "Cash retract with storage"
After the closing of the shutter, the clamp moves back in the stacking position
and flips open. The note bundle remains in the clamp, so that an assignment
between customer and note bundle is possible.

The flag is also active during a power failure; it won't be reseted by a reset. So
that after the disposal of the note bundle, the CMD V5 can be still operated,
the device lock needs to be unlocked.

Troubleshooting
With the product-specific software (e.g. T-SOP, in the following, only T-SOP is
mentioned), you get notes regarding the operation or regarding the
troubleshooting.
If a special state occurs during the process of one of these commands, this is
displayed in the T-SOP and remains until the next device command is made.
Additional displays can occur during the initialization, after the switch on or
after a reset.
It is also possible to check the operability of the CMD V5 with an internal test.

i If a reset should be performed after error elimination, move the clamp

to its home position (stacking position of the clamp in the stacker).

Checking the cash paths Troubleshooting

Checking the cash paths

Before checking the banknote paths, you should perform the following steps:

Activate the product-specific software (refer to the operating manual of the

basic ProCash device, chapter "Basic Operation", section "Calling the
product-specific software").

Open the safe door (see the operating manual of the base device).

Pull the CMD V5 as far as possible out of the safe by the green release
lever (see chapter "Removal/Installation of Components", section "Pulling
out/pushing in the CMD V5").

i If the release lever of the CMD V5 is blocked, you have to check on

which position the clamp is. If it is possible, push the clamp carefully
back to its initial position. Perform a reset with the T-SOP. Now check
if the CMD V5 can be pulled out (see also section "Release lever
blocked").

Troubleshooting Checking the cash paths

Release lever blocked

If the release lever is blocked by the routing disk, as soon as the disk moves
from its home position.
If you cannot use the release lever, a reason could be that the banknote clap
is not in the stacking position or there is an error on the routing disk.

i Make sure that the banknote clamp is in the stacking position,

because if it is not, the clamp could fall down during the pulling out
and the ribbon cable could be damaged.

Remove the reject/retract cassette (see chapter "Device Overview and

operation", section "Removing the cassette") and check in which position
the banknote clamp is.

If the banknote clamp is not in the stacking position, try to move the clamp
carefully downwards in the stacking position.

If the banknote clamp is down, you can

use the emergency release (1) on the
CMD V5 and pull out the CMD V5.

Maintenance and service
The information required for carrying out troubleshooting and maintenance on
the individual components can be found in the various sections in this manual.
When carrying out work on components and sub-assemblies that carry
an electrical charge, these pieces of equipment must first be
disconnected from the power supply. As a result of system design, it is
not sufficient to switch off the device using the power switch on the
power distributor. In addition, the rubber plug must also be
disconnected from the power distributor.

Maintenance

Maintenance Intervals
Preventive maintenance on the CMD V5 should be carried out every two years
or no later than after 200,000 transactions.

Performing maintenance

i All of the photosensors should be cleaned only in a dry state.

The preventive maintenance is comprised of the following points:

If available, evaluate error statistics according to error sources and take

these into particular account during maintenance (replace components if
necessary).

The quality of the photosensors needs to checked with special test

commands after maintenance work has been accomplished. The quality
needs to be at least Service Level (Status * 2).

Environmental protection

Environmentally and recycling-friendly

product development
This product has been designed according to our corporate guideline
'Environmentally and recycling-friendly product development'.
This means that crucial criteria such as long life, choice of material and its
labeling, emissions, packaging, ease of disassembly and recyclability have
been taken into account. This saves resources and relieves the strain on the
environment.

Saving energy
Please switch on devices that need not be constantly running only when they
are actually needed. They should also be turned off when they are not needed
for longer periods of time.

Disposing of used consumables

Please dispose of printer consumables, batteries and cleaning and
maintenance materials according to national regulations (where relevant
complying with vendor specifications).

Labels on plastic case parts

Please do not stick any labels on plastic case parts since that would make
recycling more difficult.
