II. Course description
This course is designed to guide students with the input of essential language skills
by navigating a variety of everyday situations. Students will start by learning how to
discuss and describe their daily routines, make plans, weekend activities, and so
on. Moreover, they will expand their vocabulary and improve their grammatical
structures to handle discussions about special occasions, including expressing
certainty and addressing important dates and events. Additionally, the course will
cover the development of communicative competence by developing the four
macro skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
III. Objectives
General objective:
● By the end of this course, students will make noticeable progress toward
A1-level proficiency according to the CEFR. They will be able to participate
in simple, everyday conversations, understand the main ideas in basic texts,
and demonstrate their skills through course assessments.
Specific objectives:
● At the end of the course, students will be able to use time prepositions ('in',
'on', 'at') correctly when talking about their daily routines.
● At the end of the course, students will be able to formulate questions using
the simple present and 'Wh-questions' about weekend activities.
● At the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe their daily routines
using time expressions and appropriate time prepositions.
● At the end of the course, students will be able to discuss their weekend
activities using WH- questions and the simple present tense.
● By the end of the lesson, students will be able to correctly use time
prepositions ("in", "on") in written sentences related to months and holidays.
● By the end of the lesson, students will be able to correctly form questions
using "When" and "How long" about the timing and duration of festivals and
events.
● At the end of the course, students will be able to discuss holidays and
events in different months, describing when they happen and sharing their
own holiday traditions with classmates.
● At the end of the course, students will be able to answer questions about
festivals, including when they take place and how long they last.
● At the end of the course, students will be able to use frequency adverbs
accurately to describe how often they perform household chores and
incorporate them into sentences with appropriate grammatical structures.
● At the end of the class, students will be able to practice using phrases and
sentences to apologize and respond to apologies, ensuring correct
grammatical use of frequency adverbs in their responses.
● By the end of the lesson, students will employ daily vocabulary like first
dating and locations by forming and responding to Wh- questions in
scenarios, using simple present tense, achieving clear and effective
communication.
● By the end of the lesson, students will express in conversations dates or
different types of dates, demonstrating a clear understanding of main ideas
and details.
IV. Methodology
This course employs a situational methodology, combining virtual and face-to-face
sessions to enhance mastery of authentic communication. Along with course
materials, authentic resources such as online articles, videos, and interactive
exercises will immerse students in real-world language.
Activities range from accuracy-based exercises (e.g., fill-in-the-blank, sentence
transformation) to fluency-focused tasks (e.g., discussions, problem-solving, role-
playing). Reading, listening, and video activities will contribute to language
development.
The course includes synchronous online sessions four times per week, with in-
person meetings focused on practical applications. Students are expected to
complete all assignments before actively participating in these sessions.
