II.ASSERTION AND REASON QUESTIONS
For the following questions ,two statements are given –one labeled assertion A and other labelled as
Reason R. Select the correct answer to these questions from the codes a, b, c, d as given below
a)Both A and R are true and R is correct explanation of A
b)Both A and R are true and R is not correct explanation of A
c)A is true but R is false
d)A is false and R is also False
1.Assertion(A):The direction of induced emjif given by lenz law .
Reason (R) : The direction of induced emf always such as to oppose tohe change causes it.
2.Assertion(A):In the phenomenon of mutual induction ,self induction of each of the coils persists.
Reason (R) :Self induction arises when strenght of current in the same coil changes.IN mutual
induction ,current is changed in both individual coils.
3.Assertion(A): Lenzs law violates the principle of conservation of energy.
Reason ( R):.Induced emf always opposes the change in the magnetic flux responsible for its
reproduction.
4.Assertion ( A):If the inner solenoid was much shorter than (and placed well inside)the outer
solenoid ,then we could still have calculated the flux changeN1 Φ .
Reason ( R):The inner solenoid is effectively immersed in a uniform magnetic field due to outer
solenoid.
5.Assertion(A):A bulb connected in series with a solenoid coil is connected to an ac source .The bulb
glow becomes dimmer when soft iron core is introduced in the coil.
Reason( R):On introducing soft iron core in the solenoid coil, its inductance increases.
III.CASE STUDY
According to Faradays law ,Whenever the amount of magnetic flux linked with a circuit changes ,an
emf is induced in it. Induced current is determined by the rate at which the magnetic flux changes.
Mathematically ,the magnitude of induced emf in a circuit is equal to the rate of change of magnetic
flux through the circuit.
