My Secret Unicorn

My dad runs a pet rescue. He helps lots

of different animals to find a home.

Dad saw a small box on the doorstep of the

pet rescue last night. It looked like a rainbow!
Dad picked it up and took it inside.

Dad found a tiny,

golden egg inside
the box. The egg had
a crack along the
bottom. Dad knew
that it would hatch
soon. He put it into
a warm box.

The egg hatched. Dad brought the

creature straight home and told me not
to tell anyone about it. That is when I
met my secret unicorn for the first time.

My Secret Unicorn

My dad runs a pet rescue. He helps all

sorts of amazing creatures to find a home.
Dad is great at what he does. I used to
think that Dad would be able to find a
home for every creature… until today.

The pet rescue was about to close

last night when Dad spotted a
small box on the doorstep. It was
lots of different colours and it
seemed to sparkle. Dad picked it
up and took it inside.

Dad put the box on the counter and he

carefully lifted the lid. He was shocked
to see a tiny, golden egg resting on a red
velvet pillow. The egg had a small crack
along the bottom. Dad knew that the
creature in the egg would hatch very soon.

“I’ve never seen anything like this before,”

said Dad. He put the golden egg into a warm
box to help it to hatch. 'It must be a rare
bird,' he thought.
Dad found out what was inside the egg this
morning and it was not a bird. Dad brought
the creature straight home and told me not
to tell anyone about it. That is when I met
my secret unicorn for the first time.

My Secret Unicorn
My dad runs the biggest pet rescue in
Runcorn. He takes in all sorts of amazing
creatures and helps them to get better
before finding them a brilliant home.
Last week, he found the perfect home for
a lonely African land snail called
Stan. Dad is great at what he does
and there’s not a creature that Dad
wouldn’t be able to find a new home
for. At least, that’s what I
thought until today.

Last night, the rescue centre was about

to close when Dad spotted a small box
on the doorstep. This has happened
before but this box seemed different.
It was lots of different colours and it
seemed to sparkle even though it was
dark outside. Dad picked it up and
brought it inside to have a closer look.

Dad placed the box on the counter. He

carefully lifted the lid just a crack and
peeped inside. Dad was shocked to
see a tiny, golden egg resting on a red
velvet pillow. The egg was wiggling
slightly and it had a small crack
along the bottom. Dad knew that the
creature in the egg would hatch very soon.

My Secret Unicorn

“I’ve never seen anything like this before,”

said Dad as he gently held the egg. ‘It
must be some sort of exotic bird,’ he
thought. He placed the golden egg into
a warm box to help it to hatch. “We will
find out in the morning,” he said.

Dad found out exactly what was

inside the egg when he got to work
this morning and it wasn’t an exotic
bird. In fact, Dad brought the creature
straight home and told me not to tell
a single person about what had been
dropped off at the rescue centre last
night. That is when I met my secret
unicorn for the first time.
