It’s been (1) ______________________. Washington and Hanoi are already major
trading partners, with the U.S. importing nearly 130 billion dollars from Vietnam in
2022. But their union is (2) ____________________.
(U.S. President Joe Biden) “Partnerships like this landmark deal signed between

______________________________, and to abandon its hegemony and (8)

Biden, though, is rejecting criticism that its cozying up with Vietnam has anything
to do with China. (U.S. President Joe Biden) “It’s not about isolating China. It’s about
making sure the rules of the road, everything from airspace and (x2) space in the ocean,
[the international rules of the road] are (x5) abided by.”
It’s Vietnam that will have to do (9) ___________________. It considers both
Washington and Beijing allies and can’t afford (10) __________________.
