MongoDB Mission Statement and Values
One of the most important parts of MongoDB is our employees, and ensuring we are all
aligned in our Mission Statement and Core Values, which keep our culture strong and
unified, as we accelerate our growth and disruption of the database space. The goal is
to build on the best aspects of our culture and create a common language that defines
who we are and what we value. We strive to live and work by this statement and the
values every day!
OUR MISSION:
MongoDB empowers innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by
unleashing the power of software and data
OUR VALUES:
Build Together
We achieve amazing things by connecting and leveraging the diversity of skills,
experiences and backgrounds of our entire organisation. We discuss things thoroughly,
but prioritise commitment over consensus. We are good listeners and always
communicate with clarity and respect. We create and support a positive, inclusive and
accepting environment.
BE Intellectually Honest
We embrace reality. We apply high-quality thinking and rigor. We have courage in our
convictions but work hard to ensure biases or personal beliefs do not get in the way of
finding the best solution.
WORK WEEK
Your work week hours may vary with your team. We encourage you to work with your
manager to ensure you have a schedule that works for both you and your team.
MongoDB India follows a 40 hrs/week schedule. However, office schedules may vary so
please work with your Manager to ensure you have a schedule that works for you and your
team. To ensure smooth and efficient running of the organization, employees may be
expected to work beyond their assigned working hours depending on demands of their work.
DRESS CODE
The dress code at MongoDB is casual but use your judgment in the choice of what
clothing is appropriate for the workplace! MongoDB employees working at customer
sites should follow the dress code of these companies.
We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information.
You can find out more about our Privacy policy here.
BUILDING SECURITY
MongoDB strives to provide everyone with a safe and secure working environment.
Security procedures are established that are specific to each office location. Contact
your office manager for more information.
PAID LEAVE
In order to give our best at work and also live a well-balanced life, we all need to take
time off for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation! The vacation year begins on 1st January
and ends on 31st December. The full details of the Paid Leave policy are available here.
SuccessFactors is used to track your holidays and approval. Please raise a Zendesk
ticket for any clarification. As a good practice, we suggest you get your planned leaves
approved by your manager well in advance.
PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
We recognise all statutory public holidays and publish our holiday calendar each year
here for ease of reference. All employees are entitled to a paid day off without advance
approval. If you are required to work on a public holiday that is recognised on the
MongoDB portal, you are entitled to get an additional vacation day in your holiday
balance. You must have an appropriate business reason and your manager’s approval
prior to commencing work on any such holiday.
PARENTAL LEAVES
We recognise the importance of supporting new parents at this exciting time and are
committed to aligning our policies and practices with our key values. Employees may be
eligible for maternity, paternity or any other parental leave, depending on their personal
circumstances. Check out the Zendesk article for more information and raise a Zendesk
ticket for any clarification or to talk about what other leave you might be able to avail in
India.
UNPAID PERSONAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE
We understand that there may be occasions when you will need extended personal
time off, including leave to care for others. If you need personal time, request this with
your manager and Employee Experience will review your request. Check out the
Zendesk Article to read more about unpaid leave policy in India.
Benefits
MongoDB continually evaluates its benefits and we strive to provide a comprehensive
and competitive program for employees! Generally, MongoDB employees who are
classified as regular full-time or regular part-time, as per their employment agreement,
are eligible for some or all of MongoDB’s benefits. All of our specific plan details can be
found on Zendesk here and if you have any questions please log a ticket - the team is
there to help!
For booking business travel we use TripActions and we use Concur for submitting
business expenses . The full T&E policy is on the wiki. If you have any specific questions
on Concur or TripActions, you can reach out to our travel team at
[email protected]. The sooner you get your expenses logged in Concur, the sooner
you will be reimbursed! The accounts team pays out expenses weekly and once
approved the amount should arrive in your account within a few days. If you have any
queries on expenses, drop the team an email
Performance And Growth
Getting feedback on your performance is an important part of your career development
and professional success! Having a performance and growth conversation is your
opportunity to align with your manager on performance (what you accomplished and
how you did it) and growth goals.
DIGNITY AT WORK
MongoDB is committed to protecting the dignity of employees and we strive to provide
a supportive workplace where all employees can work in an environment free from all
forms of bullying and harassment. All employees are expected to comply with this policy
and the Company will take appropriate measures to ensure that bullying or any kind of
harassment doesn’t occur. The Dignity at Work policy details MongoDB’s approach to
creating a supportive environment, where employees carry out their work free from
bullying and harassment. Please take some time and read the full policy here .
MongoDB's misconduct policy is there to ensure that all employees are treated fairly in
investigating and dealing with any allegations of misconduct or capability issues.
GRIEVANCES
The Company understands that when people work together, there may be
misunderstandings or issues that need to be resolved from time to time. At MongoDB
we pride ourselves on good communications and willingness to listen and cooperate,
which means these issues can be resolved informally. However the Company
understands that if these things are not resolved, they can become grievances. Our
policy allows employees to express concerns they may have and to have them resolved
quickly and in a fair and consistent manner. Employees may utilize this policy whenever
they feel it is required.
WORKPLACE SAFETY
The Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) and Employee Wellbeing Guidelines reflect
MongoDB’s commitment to a safety culture that extends beyond the traditional view of
physical injuries sustained from accidents in the workplace, to the physical and
psychological health and wellbeing of our employees. MongoDB recognises its moral
and legal responsibility to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all
employees, contractors, customers and visitors. All accidents must be reported to an
individual’s manager and the Employee Experience team immediately. Please review
our full Health & Safety policy here.
WORKPLACE VIOLENCE
MongoDB is committed to providing a safe and violence-free work environment.
Therefore, MongoDB prohibits violence or threats of violence in the workplace. There is
no excuse or justification for a MongoDB employee to engage in any type of conduct in
the workplace that violates this policy. Any MongoDB employee who engages in conduct
that is prohibited by this policy will be subject to discipline, up to and including
immediate dismissal and the filing of criminal charges in accordance with law.
WEAPONS
Possession of firearms, knives or any other weapons by MongoDB employees, contractors,
guests, customers or vendors on company premises, while engaged in company business,
or at company sponsored events is strictly prohibited. Only authorized executive protection
personnel are permitted to possess weapons on MongoDB property or at company
sponsored events.
Examples of conduct that violates this policy include, but are not limited to:
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
At MongoDB we are committed to providing equal opportunity in employment to all
employees and applicants for employment. No one should be discriminated against in
the terms and conditions of employment on the basis of race, color, religious creed,
national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, marital status,
membership of the Traveller community, or any other classification protected by
applicable law. All employees should familiarise themselves with our policy on Equal
Opportunity.
CONSENSUAL RELATIONSHIPS
Misunderstandings can occur when relationships change, and such relationships have
the potential to create favoritism (real or imagined!), resentment and morale problems.
Consequently, MongoDB strongly discourages its managers and supervisors from
dating subordinates, including one not directly reporting to the supervisor. Any
MongoDB employee involved in such a relationship should inform Employee Experience,
so that we can support you to minimise any potential problems.
WHISTLEBLOWER POLICY
MongoDB is committed to complying with all laws and regulations that govern its
business, including those that govern our accounting and auditing practices. We
encourage you to promptly report any complaints about possible violation of law,
MongoDB policy or confidential complaints about another employee’s behaviour to your
manager or Employee Experience Team. If you don’t feel comfortable reporting it to
your manager or Employee Experience Team we encourage you to report it as per our
Whistleblower policy. The Whistleblower Policy is applicable to all MongoDB
employees.
FRAUD PREVENTION
In order to maintain MongoDB's internal controls to prevent or detect fraudulent
activity by its employees, all prospective employees are required to authorize a
background check prior to joining MongoDB. MongoDB has the right to revoke an offer
of employment upon receipt of an unsatisfactory background check. In addition,
MongoDB will conduct post- employment background checks on a need basis for those
employees who are deemed by management to be in sensitive positions with an
opportunity to commit fraud.
Termination of Employment
VOLUNTARY TERMINATIONS
Please refer to your employment contract for specific details regarding terminations. It

potential areas for improvement in its relationship with its employees.

applicable law. An employee who is involuntarily terminated will be given their final
payment as per the final agreement.
All departing employees will be paid in full through their last day of work; however
