Lesson Plan in Mathematics

Estimate and Measures Length using Non-standard Units of Linear Measures

I. Learning Objectives

At the end of the lesson with with 85% accuracy, the pupils will be able to:

A. Discuss measure of length using non-standard units of linear measures;

B. Estimates and measures the length of an object using non – standard

units of linear measures; and

C. Show appreciation and importance of being able to estimate and

measure the objects around them using non-standard measurement.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic: Estimate and Measures Length using Non-standard Units of Linear

Measures

B. Materials: Visual Aids, Printed Materials, Worksheets, Laptop

“Ako ay maging Mabait, Marespeto at Aktibo. Pramis!

4. Checking of Attendance

The teacher will check the attendance by calling the pupils

alphabetically.

5. Motivation

The teacher will have a game activity called “Determine the Length
(Long and Short). the teacher will present a pictures of an object and
the pupils will determine which object is Long and Short.

B. Developmental Activities

1. Presentation

The teacher will introduce the topic about “Estimate and Measures
Length using Non-standard Units of Linear Measures” by having a
“Posting a Problem” activity. The pupils will be asked to participate
actively to the activity.

Posting A Problem

(The teacher will show a picture of a girl having a pencil and some
paper clips in front of her.)

Rose has a pencil and some paper clips. She

wants to find the length of the pencil using

paper clips. If you were Rose how would you

do it?

2. Analysis and Discussion

The teacher will ask these following questions and the students will
answer correctly. Thereafter, she will discuss by unlocking difficult
terms and by giving examples.

2.1.Who is the girl in the picture?

2.2. What does she have?

2.3. What does she want to do with the pencil and paper clips?

2.4. What is length?

2.5 How many paper clips do you think is the length of

Rose pencil?

Estimate and Measures Length using Non-standard Units of Linear

Measures

Non-standard Units of Measurement - estimating and measuring the length of an

object without the use of measuring tools.

Examples: Measuring Length using Non-standard Unit

3. Generalization

3.1. What is Non-standard Units of Measurement?

C. Post Activities

1. Application

The teacher will conduct a group activity. The teacher will divide the class
into four (4) groups and each groups will be given one object to measure.

Criteria: CUTE

C – cooperate with your group mates

U – use soft voices

T – take the task seriously

E – encourage everyone to participate

Group 1

How many paper clips do you think is the length of the colored construction
paper?

Group 2

How many paper clips do you think is the length of the pencil?

Group 3

How many paper clips do you think is the length of the paper?
