INTRODUCTION
Fractal-scaling is a mathematical term to
describe irregular geometrical structures
whose shape appear to be self-similar
regardless of the level of magnification
at which it is viewed.Fractals are created
by an infinite recursion of a simple
process and their appearance embodies
the structural complexity of the systems
that create them
IMPORTANCE AND HISTORY
Fractals can be found everywhere, from trees
and flowers to clouds and waves. The history
of fractals traces a path from mainly
theoretical studies to modern applications
such as in computer graphics, with several
notable people contributing along the way. A
common theme in traditional African
architecture is the use of fractal scaling,
whereby small parts of the structure tend to
look similar to larger parts, such as a circular
village made of circular houses.
EXAMPLES
FRACTAL TREES
Fractals are seen in the branches of trees from the way
a tree grows limbs. The main trunk of the tree is the
origin point for the Fractal and each set of branches
that grow off of that main trunk subsequently have their
own branches that continue to grow and have
branches of their own. Eventually the branches
become small enough they become twigs, and these
twigs will eventually grow into bigger branches and
have twigs of their own. This cycle creates an “infinite”
pattern of tree branches. Each branch of the tree
resembles a smaller scale version of the whole shape.
ANIMAL BODIES

Another incredible place where Fractals

are seen is in the circulatory and
respiratory system of animals. If you take
the human respiratory system, you will see
a Fractal that begins with a single trunk
that branches off and expands into a much
more fine grained network of cavities.
CURRENT STATUS
Appliations:
• Cities

• Medicine

• Image compression and

resolution

• Antennas

• Art
FRACTALS IN COMPUTERS
Computers have unlocked our ability to explore
fractals at an incredibly detailed level, and because
fractals are derived from mathematical equations, we
can explore these shapes at an infinity deep
level.Beyond just the practical applications of using
computers to research and build Fractals, the
computer’s capability calculating incredible numbers
gives us the ability to use complex Fractal equations
for many different real world applications like 3D
Modeling and terrain modeling where incorporating
Fractal equations adds to the level of realism or
accuracy of the project.
INNOVATION
• There is experimental evidence that neurons, which themselves are
fractals, will connect better to a fractal-patterned electrode than they do
to more traditionally shaped electrodes, allowing better signal
transmission between the implant and the brain

• Neural implants are already being used to help people with conditions
ranging from Parkinson's disease to spinal cord injury.

• A chip is used that stimulates a particular spot within the brain can help
reduce tremors or even restore the ability to move, speak or see.

• To successfully send signals to the brain or the eye, an implanted

electrode needs to be able to connect to a network of existing neurons.
• Most electronics aren't shaped like that; they're
designed for use inside machines, not living
things.

• The main goal is that neurons should connect to

an electrode in a pattern that fits their tendency.

• fractal patterned electrodes would be more

effective than traditional electrode shapes.

• These fractal patterned, bio-inspired electrodes

could have uses ranging from brain implant
research to implants in other parts of the nervous
system as well
CONCLUSION
Fractals have revolutionised our understanding of
the world.Fractals surround us in so many different
aspects of life.We depend on so many fractal
based systems without even realising. Fractals are
used to detect and capture the complexity of
various structures. They are also used to analyse
bacterial patterns and other biological
processes. With current research efforts we hope
to have more efficient implants as well as use
fractals to train AI, the applications are limitless.
