1. A rectangular loop of area 20 cm × 30 cm is placed in a magnetic field of 0.3 T with its plane (i) normal to
the field (ii) inclined 30° to the field and (iii) parallel to the field. Find the flux linked with the coil in each case.
2. A small piece of metal wire is dragged across the gap between the pole pieces of a magnet in 0.5 s. The
magnetic flux between the pole pieces is known to be 8 × 10-4Wb. Estimate the emf induced in the wire.
3. The magnetic flux through a coil perpendicular to the plane is varying according to the relation:
ϕ = (5t3 + 4t2 + 2t - 5) Wb
Calculate the induced current through the coil at t = 2s, if the resistance of the coil is 5 Ω.

magnetic flux linked with the copper ring increases. The current induced in the ring opposes
the downward motion of the magnet.
(b) When the ring has a cut, emf is induced across its ends but no induced current flows
through it. Therefore, motion of the magnet is not opposed. The magnet falls with
acceleration due to gravity.
20.Figure shows two identical rectangular loops (1) and (2), placed
on a table along with a straight long current carrying conductor
between them.
(i) What will be the directions of the induced currents in the loops
when they are pulled away from the conductor with same velocity
v?
(ii) Will the emfs induced in the two loops be equal?
Justify your answer.
21. A long straight current carrying wire passes normally through the centre of circular loop. If the current
through the wire increases, will there be an induced emf in the loop? Justify.

expressions for the (i) emf induced in the rod (ii) current induced and (iii) heat dissipation, if the resistance
of the rod is R.
26. A wheel with 10 metallic spokes each 0.5 m long is rotated with a speed of 120 rev / min in a plane
normal to the horizontal component of earth's magnetic field BH at a place. If BH =0.4 G at the place, what is
the induced emf between the axle and the rim of the wheel? Note that 1 G = 10-4 T.
27. A 0.5 m long metal rod PQ completes the circuit as shown in Fig. The area of the
circuit is perpendicular to the magnetic field of flux density 0.15 T. If the resistance
of the total circuit is 3 Ω, calculate the force needed to move the rod in the direction
as indicated with a constant speed of 2 ms-1.

(i) the emf induced across the arm 'RS'
(ii) the external force required to move the arm, and
(iii) the power dissipated as heat.

0.1 m2? The coil, lying in the X-Y plane is rotated, in this plane, at the rate of 50 rpm, about the Y-axis, in a
region where a uniform magnetic field, ⃗B = (0.01) k̂ tesla, is present. Find the (i) maximum emf (ii) average
emf, generated in the coil over one complete revolution.

angular speed of 50 rad s-1 in a uniform magnetic field of magnitude 3.0 × 10-2T. Calculate the maximum value
of the current in the coil.
