Introduction
Smartphones are now a necessary part of our daily lives in the digital age. They serve as
our primary means of information, communication, and entertainment. The issue of battery life
has risen in importance as consumer demand for more advanced, feature-rich devices increases.
Two strong competitors in the smartphone market, the Poco F3 and the Infinix Note 12, take
different approaches to addressing the balance between power and performance. This study aims
to shed light on the battery life of these devices, which is an essential component of their
functionality. We aim to compare the battery life of the Poco F3 and Infinix Note 12 by
conducting a methodical and quantitative analysis, with a focus on two key usage scenarios:
gaming and everyday smartphone use. This study aims to offer useful insights into which of
these smartphones offers the best battery endurance and power efficiency in an era where
consumers prioritize a dependable power supply for uninterrupted mobile experiences. We aim
to provide an empirical foundation for informed decision-making in the constantly changing field
of smartphone technology through rigorous testing and data analysis.
This study's main goal is to quantitatively and impartially evaluate the battery life of two
well-known smartphones, the Poco F3 and Infinix Note 12, with a focus on two critical usage
scenarios: gaming and everyday smartphone use. The following objectives of this study are to be
accomplished: Provide Empirical Data: By conducting thorough and standardized testing of the
battery life in both gaming and regular usage scenarios, the research seeks to fill the existing gap
in empirical, data-driven comparisons. We hope to provide manufacturers, tech enthusiasts, and
users with a thorough understanding of how these devices function in actual use by collecting
quantitative data. Inform Consumer Decision-Making:
The study aims to arm consumers with factual information to help them decide on a
smartphone in an informed manner. Users can better match their preferences with the practical
performance of these devices by comparing the battery life of the Poco F3 and Infinix Note 12,
increasing their satisfaction with their smartphone choices. Support Technological
Advancements: The research makes a contribution to the larger field of mobile technology by
shedding light on the relative battery endurance and power efficiency of these smartphones. It
offers data and metrics that can guide the design and development of smartphones in the future,
potentially leading to improvements in user experience and battery optimization. Contribute to
Knowledge: By presenting quantitative findings that can be used as a guide for future research
on smartphone battery performance, usage patterns, and consumer preferences, this study aims to
contribute to the academic and practical knowledge base. By pursuing these objectives, this
study aims to offer valuable insights into how long the Poco F3 and Infinix Note 12's batteries
last, ultimately helping both end users and the larger mobile technology sector.
Significance of the Study
In our research, we don't need to rely on complex theories or broad concepts to compare
the battery life of the Poco F3 and Infinix Note 12. Instead, we can use simple ideas and tenets to
direct our research. Here are some easier concepts we can consider: Increasing Battery Life:
Look into ways to extend the life of smartphones' batteries. This entails investigating ways to
manage power, increase efficiency, and employ clever tactics to prolong battery life. User-
Friendly Design: Consider how smartphones are created to be user-friendly, taking into account
factors like ensuring the battery life is adequate.
Consider how people choose to play games on their phones based on how long the
battery can last if you're researching gaming scenarios. Examine how the battery life of a
smartphone affects the user's overall experience with it. Do users prefer a battery that lasts
longer? Consumer Decisions: Research how consumers select their smartphones based on battery
life. Do they give preference to phones with longer battery life? Consider how smartphones
manage their power sources, such as electricity, and how they make effective use of this power.
While we don't have to delve into complex theories, these easier concepts can deepen our
research and improve our comprehension of the results.
Research Method
For our research method, we used an experimental type of research method, which we
will use to gather data for our study. We used this type of research because the objective of using
the experimental method is to produce more conclusive results than can be obtained from
correlational research regarding the causal relationships between the variables in our research
study. Here are some examples, for instance.
a. Selection of Testing Scenarios: Define precise test cases that correspond to actual
usage. Choose common tasks and gaming scenarios, for instance, for everyday smartphone use.
b. Standardized Testing Conditions: Ensure that both smartphones are tested under uniform
conditions. This entails keeping the environment at a constant temperature, connecting to the
same Wi-Fi network, and charging both phones completely before each test.
c. Battery Measurement Tools: To accurately track battery consumption, use specialized apps or
measurement tools. These instruments can deliver accurate data. d. Conduct numerous tests for
every testing scenario to lower variability and improve data reliability. Repeat the same gaming
or usage scenario on both smartphones several times.
This research study focuses on a specific type of phone. Infinix Note 12 and Poco F3 are
the specific phones that are used in this study, and as for battery testing, the scope for these
specific testing scenarios is gaming and regular smartphone usage. In this research, the practical
limitations of conducting the study include keeping the number of devices in each model used in
the study to a manageable level. And for the delimitation of this study, do not include variations
in environmental factors that are outside of our control, such as temperature changes, and restrict
the study to controlled testing environments. Another one is to exclude the impact of individual
user behavior or habits and concentrate on measuring battery life under standardized usage
conditions. We only included gaming and regular smartphone usage because we only focused on
evaluating its gaming performance in terms of battery life.
Summary
This research focuses on comparing the battery life of the Poco F3 and Infinix Note 12
using simple concepts like increasing battery life, user-friendly design, and consumer decisions.
The experimental method is used to gather data, with testing scenarios chosen based on actual
usage. Standardized conditions are maintained, and specialized apps or measurement tools are
used to track battery consumption. The study is limited to gaming and regular smartphone usage,
with limitations such as limiting the number of devices and excluding environmental factors. The
study aims to provide conclusive results.

Recently, Infinix launched the Note 12 in the Philippines, and it is a promising budget
smartphone given its impressive specs for the price tag. While there’s a Note 12 version that’s
powered by a Helio G88 processor, this specific Note 12 that Infinix released in the Philippines
is powered by a MediaTek Helio G96 processor. This version also features a triple camera setup
with a 50MP main camera, as well as a large 5,000mAh battery. The biggest thing about the
Note 12 though is its price. This phone’s 128GB variant is priced at only PHP 8,999. Given that
the Helio G96 is a capable smartphone processor, the Infinix Note 12 is definitely a great
smartphone when you look at the specs sheet. Overall, the Infinix Note 12 is a budget
smartphone that doesn’t disappoint when it comes to gaming performance, display quality, and
battery life. The rear camera quality is not too shabby either. Though there is some room for
improvement here, especially when it comes to the fingerprint scanner placement and OS bloat.
Plus, it would’ve been nice to see at least an ultrawide camera for its rear shooters. But at the
starting price of PHP 8,999, the Note 12 is worth picking up for users who value having good
gaming performance and a great display without spending a lot. (Nicolo Manaloto, June 2022)
It may surprise you to learn which of those sources have the most impact on a battery.
Displays are large nowadays and they consume a lot of energy. What about the rest? Which is
more draining: GPS, Wi-Fi, GSM or Bluetooth? How should we prioritize consumption issues
from this list? It can be difficult to tell how much energy each hardware part consumes. Of
course, measures depend on a particular device, usage type, and apps being used. But there are
common trends that could help us while developing mobile applications. Let's take a look at
every part of the smartphone and analyze its energy consumption. This will help us draw some
conclusions on how to develop more battery efficient apps. (Dmitry Melnikov, September 2023)
