Introduction

In today's digital age, the term Big Data has become one of the most important buzzwords in the

technology and business world. It refers to the management, analysis and exploitation of large

volumes of data that organizations continuously generate and that exceed the capacity of traditional

data processing tools.

Big Data represents a revolution in the way organizations understand and use data. As technologies

and analytics capabilities continue to advance, the potential of Big Data to transform industries

and improve decision-making will continue to grow. However, to capitalize on these benefits,

organizations must confront and overcome the challenges associated with handling large volumes

of data, ensuring effective and secure management that maximizes the value of the information

obtained.
Methodology

Activity 1. Conceptual Map

For the development of this exercise, it is necessary to review the references in the Learning

Environment (Unit 1 - Historical interpretation and review of Big Data-Contents and bibliographic

references).

After reviewing the suggested references, the student must make a conceptual map with the

following concepts:

1. Origin of Big Data.

2. Implications of Big Data.

3. Main definitions of Big Data.

4. Big Data motivations.

For the construction of the conceptual map, tools such as Cmaptools, GoCongr, PowerPoint,

among others, can be used; then, this conceptual map has to be shared in the discussion forum.

Activity 2. Description Of The Historical Review Of Big Data:

Using an illustrative scheme, you should portray a timeline of the development of Big Data,

including the following points:

1. Development of Big Data Analytics.

2. The Necessities of Big Data.

3. Some application fields for the Big Data.

Figure 2. Historical Review Big Data. From the autor.

Activity 3. Big Data Implication

Based on the references you should make a comparison chart, where you add and explain 6 pros

and cons of the Big Data Implications.

Figure 3. Pros and Cos of Big Data in Science, Technology and Innovation. From the autor.
Activity 4. The distinction of 5V in Statistics Domain for Big Data definitions

Based on the references, make a comparative table, where you record and explain the importance

of the 3V both in Statistics and Business Intelligence.

Activity 5. Reflection on the motivation for the 5Vs in the Data Management Taking into
account the readings and previous activities, you should make a reflective writing of the
motivation of 3Vs for the Management Data in the industry.

In today's digital age, the term Big Data has become one of the most important buzzwords in the

realm of technology and business. It refers to the management, analysis, and exploitation of large

volumes of data that organizations continuously generate and that exceed the capacity of traditional

data processing tools.

Big Data is not simply a matter of quantity; it is a multidimensional concept that includes data

management with three key characteristics: volume, velocity, and variety. These attributes define

the scope and complexity of Big Data, which in turn poses both challenges and opportunities for

organizations:

1. Volume: It refers to the enormous amount of data that is generated and stored in

organizations. With the proliferation of connected devices, social media, and digital

transactions, the volume of data is growing exponentially.

2. Velocity: Data is generated at a dizzying speed. From social media updates to real-time

transactions, the ability to process and analyze this data quickly is crucial to obtaining

useful and timely insights.

3. Variety: Data comes from multiple sources and in different formats, such as text, images,

videos, sensor data, and more. This diversity makes data integration and analysis complex,

requiring advanced technologies to manage it effectively.

Big Data represents a revolution in the way organizations understand and use data. As technologies

and analytics capabilities continue to advance, the potential of Big Data to transform industries
and improve decision making will continue to grow. However, to capitalize on these benefits,

organizations must confront and overcome the challenges associated with handling large volumes

of data, ensuring effective and secure management that maximizes the value of the information

obtained.
Activity 6. Socialization in the Forum

Share the development of Activity 3 in the forum and make comments about Exercise 3 that a

colleague also shared.

Conclusions

1. Big Data has revolutionized decision-making in organizations by enabling deep, detailed

analysis of large volumes of data. The ability to extract meaningful, data-driven insights

improves the accuracy and effectiveness of decision-making, overcoming the limitations

of traditional approaches based on intuition or limited data.

2. Managing Big Data brings with it significant challenges, including the need for adequate

infrastructure for storage and processing, ensuring data quality and veracity, and protecting

data privacy and security. Organizations must implement robust measures to address these

challenges and ensure that data is accurate, secure, and used ethically.
