Abstract

This paper presents the development and implementation of a

Body Mass Index (BMI) calculator, designed to assess individual
health status based on weight and height metrics. The BMI
calculator utilizes the formula of weight in kilograms divided by
the square of height in meters to determine an individual's BMI. It
provides immediate feedback, categorizing the result into health
ranges such as underweight, normal weight, overweight, and
obesity, according to the World Health Organization (WHO)
standards.

The tool is designed with a user-friendly interface to ensure

accessibility for a wide audience, including individuals with limited
technical skills. The development process involved rigorous
testing to ensure accuracy and reliability. Additionally, the
calculator is adaptable for integration into various platforms, such
as mobile applications and healthcare websites, enhancing its
utility in different settings.

The BMI calculator aims to promote awareness of healthy body

weight and encourage proactive health management. It serves as
an educational tool, highlighting the importance of maintaining a
healthy BMI for overall well-being. Despite its benefits, the
limitations of BMI as a sole health indicator are acknowledged,
including its inability to account for factors such as muscle mass,
distribution of fat, and individual metabolic differences. The paper
discusses these limitations and suggests complementary methods
for a more comprehensive health assessment.
