INTRODUCTION –
Course planning refers to planning course of instructions. In curriculum planning, there were key
to successful teaching and good planning. It severs as a guideline for the teacher as well as for
the students in creating the atmosphere conductive for worthwhile learning and purposeful
activities. Course planning is the developing of an educational plan for a specific course of study
comprising of several short subject courses and each courses with many interrelated units leading
to an award of a diploma or a degree after its successful completion.
DEFINITION -
“It is defined as a process of planning the entire content of the program which has to be
done before the commencement of course.”
PURPOSE –
To ensure autonomy.
It gives stability.
It helps to solves the problem
It supports the curriculum process.
It secures future progress
It brings about improvements.
It promotes utilization of resources.
PRINCIPLES –
The state the objective in behavioral terms which has to be achieved.
Establish sequence.
Organize the content focusing on the students rather than subject matter.
It should allow for individual differences & according to the level of the students.
There should be a logic in organizing units and also should allow for problem solving.
Promote cumulative learning.
Integration.
Avoid repetition.
The course should provide variety in modes of learning.
University level
Institutions level
Instructional level.
Organize the organization content topic wise, unit wise. Or lesson pan wise.
guided practice.
The extent, to which a teacher will plan course individually, will vary from institution to
institution.
The general objectives, general area of subject matter and evaluation measures for each
course will be determined at the institutional or faculty or instructional level of ensure
continuity and progression in learning, to avoid gaps and non-productive repetition in
subject- matter content and to provide the reinforcement of previous learning.
CONCLUSIONS
In conclusion, teachers need to be ready to modify at any given time, as no two classes, or
students for that matter, are going to learn alike. I believe that having a few back up plans are
always going to be in a teacher’s best interest for the success of their students and really for
themselves as a teacher as well.
