EXAMINATION PAPER – MAY/JUNE 2022
Question 4 [20]
An art gallery has contracted you to organise their new art exhibition in Cape Town.
You are the project manager. However, owing to budgetary considerations, you only
have four employees (John, Busi, Jade, and Lukas) at your disposal. Construct/draw a
work breakdown structure (WBS) up to level 3, with responsibility assignment matrices,
that incorporates the following five categories: advertising, lighting, website, food and
drinks, and tickets. Each category should have at least one WBS item underneath. Due
to other work commitments, Jade can only do the website and Busi only the tickets.
Question 5 [31]
You are the PM on a new IT project that is started at Mega IT company. The project
goal is to transfer all the systems to be cloud-based, but no one knows how big this job
is or even what the WBS would be. There is a concern that the scope will keep
growing. The project steering committee decides to approach the project by using
progressive elaboration.
However, the company executives expect the project to be finished within a very short
space of time and they want you to commit to an end date. Moreover, they have told
you that you will be sharing resources with two other important projects. The
methodology you will be using to do all development is required to be Agile, although
the company has up until now only followed a waterfall method of development.
