I NOW
NOW (Network Oriented World) is a Web based (100% Java-J2EE)ERP which manages End to
End Business Processes across all the Textile and Apparel supply chain segments like Spinning,
Knitting, Weaving, Processing and Apparel Manufacturing in multiple products like Shirting,
Denim, Wool-Worsted, Non-Woven, Home Textiles, Carpets, Technical Textiles, etc.

It can be deployed on premise as well as on cloud and accessed using web browser like Mozilla
Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome etc.
1. NOW Base

Base modules take care of Organization level definitions and master data required for all the
modules of the NOW Package. It takes care of templates definitions of Sales, Purchase,
Manufacturing etc. and master data like Item Type, Product Master (including Bill of Material,
Routing, Unit of Measures, etc), Business Partner, Order Partner (Customer and Supplier) etc. It
would also enable creation of multiple divisions / locations / companies / profit centers / cost
centers.

A Base module in NOW includes User Management, Menus and user level authorities. UI-XML
is functionality of NOW to allow Process Level as well as field level security definitions. It allows
screen designing or field management even for each user or user group level.

2. NOW Sales
Sales Module takes care of Overall Sales Functional Cycle starting from Sales Inquiry / Open
Order to complete Sales Invoicing process. Sales Modules is fully integrated with Sales
Commercial Cycle including Export Documentation.

3. NOW Commercial/Export Documentation


There are many unique requirements owing to the need of Plant Invoice, Custom invoicing, and
Commercial invoicing with Bill of lading and export benefits (incentive calculations). Also there is
Letter of Credit master to manage the LC needs.
4. NOW Merchandising
1. Easy product creation with approval process.
2. Products are created with properties of Unit of measurements (three UoMs
allowed), quality levels and stock keeping units as required.
3. Manage Customer or Destination Specific sizes
4. Garment Bill of Material with Components of Accessories, Cut Part, and Fabric
with consumption, wastage, extra allowance and placement details
5. Minimum data entry for creating Bill of Material by using user definable rules for
Color and Size combination so that BoM and Routing need NOT be defined for all
size and colors of a same style.
6. Manage destination specific BoM component in case of one Order having multiple
destinations for a same style
7. Pre order costing using price lists and standard routing based on SAM/ SMV
values.
8. Order budget and control on budget consumption at purchase module
9. Receive purchase requisitions from planning and convert to Purchase order based
on predefined Supplier (nominated or otherwise).

5. NOW Planning
NOW Planning takes care of Material Planning as well as Production Planning required across
the entire Textile Supply Chain. Thus, in case of an order of Finished Garment, it will plan
material requirement for Fabric, Sewing Trims, Packing Trims, etc for the entire order. It will
also calculate the production quantities at intermediate levels such as Cut Product, Sewn
Product and Finished Product, etc. In case of Finished Fabric, it will calculate Greige Yarn
Requirement – for Warp and Weft (in case of Knits it will calculate over all Yarn requirement)
and Dyes & Chemical requirement. It will calculate production quantities at intermediate
levels of Dyed Yarn, Warp Beam, Greige Fabric, Finished Fabric, etc.

NOW Planning works for MTO as well as MTS scenarios. It can also manage mixed scenario
as required by many Textile organizations. The Planning is governed by organization specific,
totally configurable rules to arrive at the right plan It allows Sales Inquiries / Orders to
explode automatically and generate Production Demands and Purchase Requests at multiple
levels automatically. It takes care of netting, allocation, batching and optimization rules at
multiple levels.

6. NOW Production /Manufacturing


Production Module has unique Production Demand and Production Order structure. This
structure allows one entity (Production Demand) for detailed tracking and scheduling and
another entity (Production Order) to manage grouping of jobs based on individual process level
needs of shop floor departments.
Production module has following functions. These functions will be configured for all the
business operations of Spinning, Weaving, Processing, Garmenting, Lamination, Texturizing
Printing and Trading etc.

7. NOW External Order/ Job work Management


NOW manages the Orders those are produced externally. The raw material is sent to the Job
Worker and finished, or semi-finished material is received from the Job Worker which can be done
at stage of Supply Chain progress.
8. NOW Purchase
This module takes care of functionalities of Purchase Cycle starting from Purchase Requisition
to Booking of Material and Expense Invoices of Supplier and managing the Purchase and
Produced Inventories.

Extensive features are available to take care of Inter Division/Plants transaction using Internal
Document and related transaction functionalities.

12. NOW Quality Management


This is a special module catering to advanced requirements of Quality Management. It has been
seamlessly integrated with Sales, Purchase, Production modules.

This module has following functions:


1. Inbound, In Process and Outbound Material Quality management
2. Definition of Quality Standard for Individual Products, Group of Products by Individual
Customer and Supplier
3. In-Line, End of the Line as well as Pre-Shipment Quality Inspection
4. Samples and Final Production Testing and QA
5. Definitions of Multiple Standards with number of parameters with allowed range values
6. Ability to create quality certificates at lot/ element level

13. NOW Costing


Costing Module takes care of Multi Plant/Multi BOM/ Multi Routing scenarios for Product
Costing. It manages Price Simulation, Standard, Budgeted and Actual costing as per
organizational requirements. It is based on BoM, Routing and Internal Price Lists.

It allows detailed analysis at cost Element Level, Cost Group Level, Cost Product Level, Cost
Center/ Work center level etc.

It allows plan v/s actual, controls and analysis: Actual costs available with comparisons between,
standard, planned, actual. These are calculated perpetually as production progresses, can be
seen by period and once production orders are closed.
14. NOW Finance
NOW Finance has various functionalities across General Ledger, Account Payable, Account
Receivable, Assets Accounting. Below are the basic features:
1. Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet (Companies’ Act and management formats)
2. Audit Trail using Drill down facility to go down from the Balance sheet - Trial balance -
Ledger - Base transaction voucher.
3. Facility for creating any number of User definable Balance Sheet formats.
4. Facility for user defined voucher types with Control Authority.
5. Full-fledged Asset accounting module Companies Act as well as Income Tax Act.
6. Cheque printing.
7. Bank reconciliation (automatic and manual).
8. Ageing reports of Customer and Vendor Out standings.
9. TDS calculation & TDS Certificate Generation.
10. Loans / Advances to employees are controlled through Payroll.
11. Facility to post a transaction in future dates (PDC) as well as in back date.

15. NOW JSP Handheld

JSP – Java Server Page is User Interface (UI) screen on a Handheld device. JSP uses NOW
database.

JSP functionality is used for recording shopfloor transactions on handheld devices for real
time entries of shopfloor activities in ERP.

JSP screens are designed as per business user requirements (depending on the operations of
material issue/ warehouse transfer/ packing list creation etc).

The data is entered against NOW entities and given back to NOW against those entities as
configured in NOW. JSP needs an active connection with NOW for it to function.

16. NOW Activity Management


AM functionality developed on NOW platform. It is developed using ABS, Java J2EE and will
be accessible over internet using a any web browser.

AM is an organization wide collaboration platform for creating work projects where multiple
team members can plan and track project related tasks/ work items. User can see his
calendar, activities, project status and scheduled meetings. User can update the activity
performed with actual timelines and comment to track the progress of any project.
17. WorkFlow:

Datatex has developed a standard interface between NOW and Activiti open source Work
flow engine which includes a module for the definition of the work flow triggers and the
events resulting from the flow inside the now ENTITIES.
The module also includes the user dashboard displaying the resulting activity list with the
required action and a possibility to log into the detailed entity as authorized.
Access to the dashboard and the entity can also be thru a link in an email received from the
workflow engine.
The NOW dashboard also displays a graphic view of the involved workflow.
The WF product Activiti includes many opportunities for existing and new business processes,
since this is something which cannot be defined before starting the implementation and
because the requirements increase and change in time, the following is the delivery scope of
this module:
The set up and tailoring of the Workflow application to the required business processes is
not included in the scope of this agreement.
Datatex has defined a fixed number of consulting days which can be used for training, for
customizations and set up of the Workflow or as recommended to train while creating the
first level of customizations.
Any additional days above the number in defined scope will be charged as additional days as
per agreement.
It is also evident that in some cases customization on the NOW entities both to trigger the
flow and to accept the results will be needed to fulfil new business processes.
Datatex will provide the work flows already available as standard as regards to requisition,
purchasing and sales orders approval by user definable authorization matrixes.
Activity required to integrate workflow to the company mail server is not included in scope
may result in additional assistance as required.

II Datatex MCM – Machine Capacity Management


MCM is a graphic tool for finite as well as infinite capacity balancing across the plants and work
centers. It is typically used by organizations having wide range of work centers or multiple plants.

MCM input is the Production demands from MRP planning from all the levels of Spinning,
Weaving/ Knitting, Processing and Garmenting. It plans the capacities at all the departments.

It helps planners to see the booking of the work centers on a time line of their choice and plan
optimum utilization while meeting the delivery dates expected from customers.

III Datatex MQM – Machine Queue Management


MQM is user friendly, graphic semi-automatic tool to schedule jobs on specific machines. It is pre-
integrated with Datatex NOW from where MRP Demands are pushed to MQM.
1. It can be used for any kind of machines. Be it Ring-frames, Weaving Looms, Dyeing
Vessels, Finishing Machines or it Is cutting Tables, Sewing Lines or Washing/ Dyeing
Machine
2. Pick & Drop, Split the Jobs, Group the Jobs on Planning Board Itself. (One Customer PO
on multiple Sewing Lines)
3. User definable rules to identify the Best Machine for a Job (yarn vs Spinning Lines, fabric
type vs Plain/ Dobby/ Jacquard loom, GSM vs knitting m/c, type of dye vs dyeing
machine, or garment style vs sewing line, etc)
4. User definable rules to identify Best Sequence for a job on a Machine (White orders/
Light/ Dark Orders in processing, garment style continuation in sewing lines)
5. Inter-linked Scheduling Like Weaving Plan is linked with Finishing Plan, Cutting Plan is
linked with Sewing Plan

IV CAMS – Computer Aided Machine Supervision


CAMS is a very useful IT solution for Shop Floor/ Production floor. It is a man and/or machine
interface tool which enables user to enter the data in customized screens.

It is used for recording shop floor activities like material issue to production batches, production
recording at each machine level, stoppages recording, warehouse transfers in user defined, easy
navigation screens.

CAMS can be used by integrating with Barcode or RFID solutions to track material status in production
department. It can also be used for Shopfloor Monitoring to see status of each machine along with
online details of currently running batch.

Typical usage of CAMS is weighing scale integrations at production department or dye/ recipe kitchen
and integration with machine or machine OEM software.

The screen layout, data entry process and even screen transition is developed for each organization
to suit the production department needs.

IV CATS For Fabric Inspection

Datatex CATS is a specialized solution used for recording of defects during fabric inspection. It allows
online recording inspection related other events. It is very easy to use for Operators.

It can be configured as per End Customer Requirements in terms of Defect Points, Meter per roll,
Cuttable defects, etc. Once configured, it creates the Cut Plan with an Optimization Tool for
maximizing the yield of first quality fabric.

A highly useful tool to increase the Inspection Department efficiency and availability all the related
information – Inspector, Shift apart from defect mapping in each roll. When integrated with NOW,
all the information is available in NOW which enriches the ERP with the data and which can be used
for analyzing the defects with back tracking of machines on which it was run, processing lot it belongs
and so on.
V PDM – Product Development Management
PDM is a tool for Product Development and collection management at style or collection level. It
can be used for product development of yarns, fabrics, processed fabrics, or garments. It manages
typical development details like lab dip, strike off, garment protos with product descriptions,
season, customer, along with development Lifecyle specific for each customer or type of
development.

It has features of attaching images, documents for each development project. Easy Bill of Material
and Routing with Additional Data fields make the development tracking process quicker. For
garment products it has features of size and color matrix with color folders.

PDM manages the versions of each development to keep a track of changes along the
development – be it BoMs, Routings or Costing.

VI BOARD – Business Intelligence


BOARD is a Business Intelligence tool and is used for Top Management Reporting and Analysis of
various aspects of the business.

BOARD is pre-integrated with NOW and can work with other databases as well. Below are the
typical reports which are developed by organizations as per respective KPIs:

VII Sales App (on Tablet)

The Sales App t empowers the sales channel of our NOW Customers to transact on a Tablet device.
The sales channel includes the direct Sales and the Agent Partners of the NOW Customer. Intended
to be used by the sales channel in exhibitions and fairs, to transact on the ERP system, where there
could be no Data connectivity.

Features:
• Ability to send the created Customers to NOW after due editing of the information.
• Ability to get all the customers as configured in NOW for the sales channel who is using the
App
• Ability to navigate into the Product through a catalog
• Setting a filter for products based on the sales channel
• Ability to see the current stock of the product based on the configured warehouse

VIII Vendor Portal (On Web):


The Vendor allows role-based interaction with the entire RFQ lifecycle, from concept to sampling,
purchasing and logistics. Depending on where the contributor is located on the supply chain, the
Vendor Insight Portal allows tailored interactions that add value. Additionally, the cloud-based
architecture means that there are very little infrastructure requirements for supplier partners

• Dashboard that enables the supplier to analyze his Offer success rate and other critical data;
• Request For Quotation (RFQ) can be viewed by the supplier;
• Quotations can be created by the supplier or updated until the RFQ is valid;

IX CRM:
CRM is web browser accessed portal that manages the lead generation to Customer finalization
