X-64m Series - Commercial M.2 Solid State Drive
32 GBytes, 50 GBytes, and 100 GBytes
1 Ordering Information
The following table lists the part number associated with the changes identified in this document.

Table 1: Available Part Number

Density Form Factor Part Number
32 GBytes 2242 SFSA032GM3AA1TO-C-LB-21A-JUN
50 GBytes 2242 SFSA050GM3AA2TO-C-LB-21A-JUN
100 GBytes 2280 SFSA100GM3AA4TO-C-LB-62A-JUN
100 GBytes 2280 SFSA100GM3AA4TO-C-LB-62C-JUN*
*The "C" in "62C" indicates PFAIL support.

2 Product Changes
The Juniper M.2 2242 and 2280 Solid State Drives (SSDs) are identical to the Swissbit® standard X-60m2 devices
with the exceptions identified in the following sections.

2.1 Hardware Changes

The Juniper SSDs are built with the generation 3 printed circuit board (PCB) and 4-plane NAND.

2.2 Performance Specifications

The X-64m2 read/write sequential and random I/O performance benchmarks are detailed below in Table 2.

Table 2: Read/Write Performance1

Sequential Read Sequential Write Random Read Random Write
Drive Capacity
(MBPS) (MBPS) (IOPs) (IOPs)
32 GBytes 315 85 26,500 20,500
50 GBytes 520 170 51,000 41,500
100 GBytes 520 315 69,500 61,500

2.3 Drive Geometry Changes

The drives are set to report industry standard LBA setting per the IDEMA standard (LBA1-03) as shown below.

Table 3: Drive Geometry

Total LBA User Addressable Bytes
Drive Capacity User Capacity2
Decimal (Unformatted)
32 GBytes 32 GBytes 62,533,296 32,017,047,552
64 GBytes 50 GBytes 97,696,368 50,020,540,416
128 GBytes 100 GBytes 195,371,568 100,030,242,816

1
The values are measured using CDM across the full drive density. Performance depends on flash type and number, file/cluster size, and
burst speed.

2.4 Endurance
Because the over-provisioning affects the write amplification factor, the endurance numbers are different for
these devices. See the following table for the endurance represented as both TeraBytes Written (TBW) and full
Drive Writes Per Day (DWPD) for three different application scenarios.

Table 4: Endurance3
Drive Client Enterprise Embedded
Capacity TBW DWPD TBW DWPD TBW DWPD
32 GBytes 49.08 1.43 10.22 0.30 14.42 0.42
50 GBytes 96.37 48.83 83.71
1.80 0.91 1.57
100 GBytes 192.74 97.66 167.41

2.5 Identify Device

Words 100-103 of the Identify Device return the user-addressable sectors listed in Table 3.

2.6 S.M.A.R.T. Data

Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting (S.M.A.R.T.) data for the Total Flash LBAs Written attributes (EBh and
EDh) report values in increments of 64 KBytes instead of 32 KBytes.

2.7 PFAIL Support

Model number SFSA100GM3AA4TO-C-LB-62C-JUN offers additional power loss protection (PFAIL). These drives contain
an array of holdup capacitors designed to supply voltage to the controller long enough for data hardening to
complete. If the voltage drops below a specified threshold, the PFAIL signal is asserted, notifying the controller
of the voltage loss. The controller then begins the process of hardening data and switches the power supply to
the power manager from the host to the capacitor array. This allows the controller to complete any writes that
were in progress at the time of power loss.

3
Client and Enterprise workloads follow the JEDEC JESD219 standard; the Embedded workload creates a 4 KByte file and appends it.
Enterprise workload values are measured based on 168 hours of runtime.
