WHATISQRCODE?
WHAT ISQR CODE?
Created by Japanese corporation
Denso-Wave in 1994. Effectively and
efficiently connecting the physical
world with the electronic world, QR
stands for ‘Quick Response.’

WHAT ISQR CODE?

It allows the readers to decode information at
a high rate of speed. This is popular in Japan
and is is also used by companies as they attach
their QR code in their products. It usually gives
URL linking you to a website or immediately
provides the salient information about the
product.

WHAT ISQR CODE?

Quick response (QR) codes are a type of bar
code that is made up of black and white squares
which can store encoded data. They are printed
on many products in order to give extra
information about the object.

QR codes can be used to provide
information in a variety of ways:
They can be used on foods to share more about
the company who makes the product, or about the
product itself and its nutritional information.

They are used for marketing purposes. They are

printed in magazines or other advertising outlets to
attract a user into scanning them and viewing the
marketing material.

many sectors and business types. QR Codes have
applications in marketing, retail, education,
healthcare, travel and many more.

more data storage capacity than traditional
barcodes. This provides the ability to store and

Codes are a more economical and environmentally
friendly solution compared to traditional printing
and distribution methods. It reduces paper waste

Codes, you must have a smartphone or a
compatible device.

information shared through QR Codes may cause
problems.

4. User Awareness and Training- In order for QR

Codes to be used effectively, users need to know
how to scan QR Codes and be trained on this
subject.

3.
ISSUESOFQRCODE
As they are based on image processing, the QR
code can only be scanned if there is enough light
for the code to be fully recognized by the camera.

Companies have to be very careful about QR codes

being distorted when they are resized, as the image
may not be exactly the same as before and
therefore will not scan and link to the information.
As QR codes often act as a link, if you do not
have a stable internet connection, then you
may not be able to access the linked
information.

Ten Interesting Ways to
IntegrateQR Codes in Your
Teaching
Create Interactive and Engaging Content
You can enrich the content you teach
in a class by using QR Codes that link
to other readings and resources. You
can link to a pdf. A video production, a
website, a document, or an audio file
among others.

Scavenger Hunts
Create an interactive classroom
activity such as the Scavenger’s Hunt
by using QR Codes that provide
directions or instructions resulting in
better learner engagement.

Share Resources
Learners can use QR Codes to share
educational resources with each other
(e.g. lecture notes, web content, how
to-do videos.
Enhance Classroom Library
Create QR Codes of students’ brief write-ups about
why they enjoy their book and put them right in or
on the books in the class library. Students can use
these QR Codes to find out more about the books.
By integrating QR codes in these ways, you can
make the classroom library more interactive,
informative, and engaging, encouraging students to
explore and enjoy reading.
Use in Classroom Activities
The QR Code can be used in giving instructions in
class and pin them up inside the classroom
instead of providing them with thick copies of
printed materials giving instructions on how to do
an activity. By incorporating QR codes in these
ways, you can make classroom activities more
engaging, interactive, and efficient, enhancing the
overall learning experience.
Gather Students Feedback
You can create surveys, polls, and forms
using google form and share them with
students as of QR Codes which can be easily
scanned and accessed. These methods
facilitate immediate and convenient
feedback, helping you to quickly gauge and
respond to students’ needs and opinions.
Provide Help With Homework
A detailed instruction can be made into a
QR Code which students scan at home and
use the information to help them comply
with their assignments.

Research Project
Make students create QR Codes linking
other resources and web content to their
research work.

Communicate with Parents or Partners

You can share information to parents on
school events or activities in school.
However, be sure to orient the parents on
how to use QR Codes.
