idea about listening strategies?
Very good.

-Listening strategies Are techniques or

Can you please read what is listening activities that contribute directly to the
strategies? comprehension and recall of listening input.
Thank you for reading, so listening strategies
serve s our guide, in which it can help us to
easily understand what we are listening .
-are we clear? -Yes, Ma’am.

(Student will read the next slide)

-Can you please read the next slide. “To train your listening skills, it is important
to listen actively.”

-which means to actively pay attention to

what you are listening to. Make it a habit to
listen to audio books, podcasts, news, songs,
( Students are actively listening)
etc. and to watch videos and films in the
foreign language. It will help you to become
better in listening.
-we also have suggestions in improving your
listening skills, can you please read the first
one.
(Student will read the first suggestion)

1. Be Attentive “Be Attentive – practice mindfulness by

consciously eliminating distractions from
your mind and body.”

Any idea about be attentive? “ Ma’am be attentive meaning you have to

remove the distractions on your mind and
focus on what you are listening.”
-Yes very good,be attentive, meaning you
have to focus yourself on what you are
listening for you to better understand what is
being said on the text. (Student will read no. 2)

-Can you please read no. 2? “Ask Questions – one of the ways you can
live in the moment is by asking clear
questions. “

“It is important ma’am, especially if there are

-Class, why is it important to ask a question?
things you don’t understand.”
-Yes very good, asking questions will make
things clear to you. Often times, people's
comments are open to interpretation to ( Students are actively listening)
understand their desire to understand what
they hear one of the ways you can stay in the
moment is to ask clarifying questions.
“Yes ma’am.”
-Is it clear?

(student will read the slide)

“Use the acronym WAIT, Why Am I

The third one is Don’t interrupt unnecessarily
Talking? to keep your comments relative to
, can you please read.
the speaker’s thoughts.”

Every time that there is someone speaking

( Students are actively listening)
in front, never interrupt someone who is not
yet finish talking especially if it is an
important thing, you may ask your question
or clarification when she/he is done talking.
Understood?

( Student will read the slide)

-anyone, who wants to read no. 4?
“Use body language – being able to
understand and interpret body language can
help you grasp other people's unspoken
questions, problems, or negative feelings.”

Thank you, we all know that there are

people who have disabilities were they can’t
understand what people are saying, body ( Students are actively listening)
language is very important to learn. There are
also speaker who use body language in
giving information, so for you to understand
what they want to convey or to say, you have
to learn body language.

“Yes ma’am”
Are we clear?

The next one is the Empathize, will you (student will read the slide)
please read.
The ability to perceive the feelings of
others, as well as to imagine what someone
else is thinking or feeling.
Thank you for reading. So in empathize
you are able to perceive the feeling of the
speaker, if she/he is happy, sad etc. The ( Students actively listening)
emotions that she/he is giving is same with
the emotions or feeling that you will receive.
Can you give me another example of “Ma’am excitement.”
emotions or feeling?
Okay very good, that is another example
of feeling or emotions.

Who wants to read the last one? Take notes. ( Student read the next slide)
“Take notes – it provides you with a
permanent record to refer back to. Good note
taking will improve your active listening,
comprehension of material, and retention.”

So class for you, why is it important to take “Ma’am it is important because it will serve
note? as our guide.”

Okay, very good idea, so take notes are very

important, because if you forgot something,
you have something to look for.
There are tips before you listen, the first one
is
Think about the topic of the text you are
going to listen to. What do you already know ( Students are actively listening)
about it? What could possibly be the content
of the text? Which words come to mind that
you already know? Which words would you
want to look up?
So you have to think first what topic you are
going to listen, it is important that you are
interested on the topic that you are going to
choose, because that will be your advantage.
“Yes ma’am”
Clear?
Will you please read the next slide. -(student will read the next slide)
“Think about what type of text you are
going to listen to. What do you know about
this type of text?”

So you have to think on what kind of text

( Students are actively listening)
you are going to listen, so that it will be easy
for you to make your own thoughts in that
text.
-Please read the next slide.
(student will read the next slide)
“Relax and make yourself ready to pay
attention to the listening text.”
It is important to relax yourself, focus on
your work, focus on listening.
“None ma’am.”
Any question before we proceed to the next
slide?

Now we are going to talk about the tips

While You Are Listening.

Can you please read the first one.

( student who volunteer will read the slide)
“It is not necessary to understand every
single word. Try to ignore those words that
you think are less important anyway.”

Thank you, so meaning, you don’t have to

understand each word being said by the
speaker, all you have to do is pick up those
important words, you can take down notes
for the words you think are “Yes ma’am”
important.Understood?

Let’s move on on the next slide. Will you

please read.
-(student who volunteer will read the slide)
“If there are words or issues that you don't
understand, use your general knowledge as
well as the context to find out the meaning.”

“Ma’am experience.”
-Thank you, what do you mean by general
knowledge class? Any idea?
\
Very good, it could be our experience, or (The student who volunteer will read the
the knowledge we have learned. next slide)
“If you still don't understand something, use
a dictionary to look up the words or ask
Please read the next slide.
someone else for help.”

So if you are having hard time thinking

about something, you can use some other
source where you can look for the meaning
of it.
“Ma’am google/ internet.”
Aside from dictionary, what other thing or
resources you can use in looking for a
meaning of a word?
Yes, very good, you can use internet, ( Students are actively listening.)
nowadays people are using dictionary,
because what’s on dictionary is only on
internet, and it is more easy to use.

We are done in “while listening”, now let us

move on on “after listening.

-(student who volunteer will read the first
Will you please read the first bullet. bullet)
Think about the text again. Have you
understood the main points?

After listening, think if you really ( Students are actively listening.)

understand the text, if not, try to play it
again. Focus and observe what’s the main
point of the text.
Can you please read the second bullet? (Student will read the second bullet)
“Review your notes.”

So after listening, you have to review your

notes to understand and to recall what’s the
main point of the text.
“None”
Is there any question or clarification?
“Yes ma’am.”
Are you sure?

“Yes ma’am.”
Now lets proceed to our activity, are you
ready?
