all about .”

“ Can anyone tell what a basic “A basic sentence pattern refers to

sentence pattern is?” the typical arrangement of words in a
sentence to convey meaning clearly
and effectively. In English, the most
fundamental sentence pattern follows
the subject-verb-object (SVO)
structure. This means a sentence
begins with a subject (the person or
thing performing the action), followed
by a verb (the action or state), and
then an object (the entity receiving
the action). For example, in the
sentence "She reads books," "She" is
the subject, "reads" is the verb, and
"books" is the object. Variations of
this basic pattern include subject-
verb (SV) structures where no object
is needed, like "He sleeps," or more
complex patterns that incorporate
additional elements like complements
or adverbial phrases, but the SVO
structure is a foundational template
in English sentence construction.”
“Excellent, now, I will discuss to you

D. Discussion

“In English grammar, there are 5

basic sentence types you need to be
familiar with.It would be more difficult
to understand the basic sentence
patterns in English if you are not
familiar yet with the basic sentence
structure in English.
One of the basic sentence pattern is
S-TV-IO-DO or the Subject+Transitive
Verb+Indirect Object+Direct Object.
These patterns refer to the
arrangements of the elements of a
sentence. It starts from the most
basic, to the most complex.
 - S (Subject): The person or
thing performing the action.
Example:
My mother baked my brother
a cake.
The teacher gave the student
a test
The word mother, and teacher is the
subject who perform the action.
 - TV (Transitive Verb): A verb
that requires a direct object to
complete its meaning.
Example:
My mother baked my brother a
cake.
The teacher gave the student
a test
The word bake and gave is the
example of verb that complete in the
sentence
 - Indirect Object: The person
or thing who benefits from the
action. It answers the question
"To whom?" or "For whom?"
after the verb.
Example:
My mother baked my
brother a cake.
The teacher gave the
student a test
The word my brother and the student
is the the person who benefit from
the from the action
 - DO (Direct Object): The
person or thing that receives
the action of the verb.It
answers the question "What?"
after the verb.
Example:
My mother baked my
brother a cake.
The teacher gave the
student a test

thing that receive the action “

F. Generalization

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

“In the basic S-TV-IO-DO sentence
pattern, the sentence structure
follows this order: Subject (S) +
Transitive Verb (TV) + Indirect
Object (IO) + Direct Object (DO).
This pattern is used when an action
(expressed by the transitive verb) is
performed by the subject and affects
two objects: the indirect object, which
receives the benefit of the action,
and the direct object, which is the
thing being acted upon.

For example, in the sentence, "She

(S) gave (TV) her friend (IO) a gift
(DO)," the subject "She" performs the
action "gave" on the direct object "a
gift," with the indirect object "her
friend" receiving the gift. The
sentence always follows this logical
progression, ensuring clarity about
who is doing the action and what or
who is involved in it.”
“Do you have any question? If none,
let’s proceed to our assessment”
