PERFORMANCE TASK – Sports Officiating (100 Points)

Instructions:

1. This group task is your final activity.


Note: No PE uniform, No Performance Task. You must wear proper attire to prevent injuries or
incidents.
2. You are tasked to:
a. Bring necessary materials:
• Badminton Racket
• Shuttlecock
• Materials for officiating badminton
3. Create or improvise your own badminton game, either Singles or Doubles Edition, and must be properly
documented using a Word file. The following will be observed:

1. Own Mechanics (this includes scoring system)


2. Rules and Regulations
3. Management Committee
4. Utilization of digital equipment and improvised materials.

Optional: You may include the following badminton officials.

The referee is in overall charge of a badminton tournament or championship(s) of which a match forms
part of upholding the Laws of Badminton and Competition Regulations in the BWF Statutes.

Individual singles matches require a total of six officials:


• An umpire who oversees the match, the court, and its immediate surroundings
• Four-line judges (two for each side of the court positioned at the baseline) who will indicate
whether a shuttlecock landed 'in' or 'out' on the line(s) assigned.
• A service judge.

Doubles matches require a total of eight officials. This is as above, but additional two-line judges are
sometimes added (one for each side of the court positioned at the doubles service line).
