TABLE OF CONTENT
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this method statement is to describe the methodology involved for pre-bore
works and its related activities for pre-bore works and to details out the steps to be taken to
meet the specific requirements.
This Method Statement covers all pre-bore works as detailed in approved construction drawings
and project specifications.

5.3 It is the responsibility of Safety officer that all personnel are issued with a safety
procedure. And safety procedure will be applied and controlled full time by experienced super
visor.
5.4 Sub-Contractor Site engineers will ensure that all works are performed safely as per latest
‘Construction’ drawings & specifications.
5.5 The relevant Sub-Contractor supervisor will ensure that all the work is conducted in
accordance with this method statement and project specification.
5.6 The QC Inspector (if necessary) will ensure that all work is executed according to
requirement of quality is fulfilled.
Prior to the commencement of drilling operation, the pegged pile position is checked by
the supervisor and countercheck on site by the COW/RE. If the utilities or services are
known to be on the pre-bore alignment or in close vicinity, they will be marked according
to the latest information provided and the piloting done prior to work commencement.
Setting out of pile location to be sign off by all parties (Surveyor/GC) prior drilling activity.
The pile point is determined by a license surveyor and position the drill rig on top of the
point. The first drill rod with a drill bit is placed above the drill point. Ensure verticality is
achieved before starting drilling works. This is done by checking the verticality of the
first drill rod and the mast by using a spirit level.
a) For drilling in soil and rock, the pre-bore hole is formed by pressure air from high
pressure compressor through soils/rock strata. The advancement of hole is
achieved by an auger head which is attached to the drill rod and connected to the
rotary head which is powered by hydraulic motor.
All details of drilling are to be recorded in the standard drilling records. (Please provide
the Standard pre-bore Record Form).
