Factors to considered in the construction of school building

1. Cite the salient features of the topic discussed today

The topic discussed by the reporter is about the factors that needs to consider
before constructing school building. The process that needs to be consider was
listed as school persona, shared space in school building, Technology In Schools -
Plan For The Future, The Eco-friendly School Building and lastly school design
considerations. This are the things that we should carefully plan before constructing
school building in order to have successful and firm building. Because school
campuses are usually large, building a school can take a long time, the modular
construction procedure is less time-consuming, it can be advantageous to construct
school structures. The method of fabricating and producing building components at
off-site manufacturing factories is known as modular construction. It's critical to
keep school buildings in good working order if you want to provide high-quality
instruction. More importantly, school facilities can be maintained for a long time by
investing in effective preventative maintenance programs. The Benefits of School
Maintenance. Schools have a legal responsibility to protect the health and safety of
their employees, students, and visitors, but as we all know, a school building is
subject to a lot of stress, so it's critical that it's maintained to a high quality on a
regular basis.

2. Give your reaction or reflection regarding the topic presented

Schools should consider the current rate of technological advancement as
well as school's future technological needs when planning and designing
buildings. The overall sustainability and environmental impact of a school is
another important factor to consider before it is built. It takes a lot of time
and effort to plan and build a school. We must not only think about the
school's physical appearance, but also the progress of education over time.
The use of technology is widespread, and learning is lot more participatory
than it used to be. Children's learning environments should reflect this while
still allowing for future development.
The buildings and infrastructure of the school are exposed to all kinds of
weather, including sun, rain, and other elements. In order to keep the space
in good working order, it is critical that there be a regular maintenance and
repair schedule for the school, as well as a yearly plan. Rooms must be
restored, drains must be unclogged, walls must be repainted, floors must be
refinished, and roofs must be repaired. There are so many details that need
to be considered. The lack of some educational amenities, such as an
insufficient number of computers for each student or a deficit of teachers and
instructors, may not be as obvious to the general public. Many people
overlook the fact that school infrastructure is a critical component of learning.

3. What is the implication of the topic to your present position

Our second home is the school when we were still students, we spent about half of our waking
hours in the classroom and now as a teacher its became really our home that we should make it
safe and comfortable not just for us but for our learners. Our schooling and education have a
significant impact on how we view the world, just as our upbringing has a significant impact on
how we conduct our lives. Assisting in the appearance of the school as well as providing comfort
and amenities for the pupils. Aside from providing students with education and learning, it is
also the school's responsibility to make the process of education and learning as enjoyable as
possible for them. Because this is such a vital part of a high-quality education, the school's
facilities are in good functioning order.
Because most public school systems do not have the funds to do both little and large repairs, the
damage accumulates over time and everyone realizes at once that the school has become a
collection of old, run-down, and poor facilities. We must spend the time and money to enhance
the quality of the school infrastructure itself if we want to increase the quality of education in
our schools and boost the standards of our graduates. As it is, the topic has been a point of
controversy for a long time, and no compromise is expected in the near future, especially with
the global financial crisis.Looking after the school through regular maintenance and repair
will not only be pleasing to the eye but more importantly, an area more conducive to
learning. At this point in time, improving school infrastructure is has to be a priority.
The school Site

1. Cite the salient features of the topic discussed today

The word ‘site’ is a very familiar one. It generally stands for the area or exact plot of land
or ground on which anything or a structure or group of structures is, has been or is to be
located. School site is just the piece of land or plot of ground on which a school plant is
built or is to be built. It is on the site that school buildings are erected. It is on the site that
foot paths and walk ways, car parks, and play grounds and all other structures that make
up a school are constructed. It is important that wherever possible, the school site should
be of adequate size to accommodate all the structures, services and activities required to
conveniently implement an educational programme.

Requirements in acquisition of school sites are first is the Location/Environment - provides an

environment conducive to learning - far from cockpits, malls, gambling dens, cinema houses,
beer and videoke joints, jails, industrial establishments, military quarters, public markets,
slaughterhouses, or garbage dumps. Second Accessibility - easily accessible to the greatest
number of pupils/students. Then third is the Topography - level and should have no irregular
boundaries. And lastly is the Soil Condition - agricultural land with sandy loam.
Part also of school sites is its external areas that are likely less prioritize but we can can see
that it must be focus since it is also part of the school. This are External Areas in the School first
is Agriculture area - traditionally known as the school garden. Then Playground area - needed
for physical education. Third is Circulation area - intended to facilitate movement within the
school site. Next is School fence - to secure the school against stay animals and against
squatters. Fifth is School gate - main entrance on the front side of the school and Flagpole - to
display the Philippine National Flag. And of course the Signboard - to indicate the name
location of the school building.

2. Give your reaction or reflection regarding the topic presented?

The process of selecting and securing suitable school sites is a critical component of the school plant
planning process. The location of a school is one of the aspects that might help or hurt the
implementation of the school's instructional and non-instructional programs. One of the aspects that
can determine how valuable a school plant is to members of the local community is the location. As a
result, school administrators should be concerned with the current and future demands of their school
campuses.
It is self-evident that there will be no physical facility known as a school without a school site. The school
site's size, location, and nature might help or hinder the implementation of the school curriculum, as
well as the children's learning opportunities. For example, if a school site is tiny, it may not be able to
accommodate all of the physical structures required to efficiently conduct the school curriculum. It
might not have any play areas or leisure areas. Attempts to solve this problem may result in expensive
costs for specific school design and construction. Alternatively, it may result in the school being run on
two or more campuses, causing coordination and transportation issues.

3. What is the implication of the topic to your present position?

It is critical for school administrators and heads to keep a close eye on their schools' site
demands, which may occur as a result of increased student enrollment and the resulting need
for new structures to accommodate them. When new facilities are required to accommodate
current instructional equipment and materials, site demands are also mentioned. When
obsolete school buildings are demolished to make room for new ones, the same is true when
there is a need to accommodate the educational program and housing the school employees
and pupils.
School site affects the importance the public holds of its schools. It also conditions how
visitors and newcomers perceive the school. It is possible that it also affects how children in
a school perceive it. The location of the site may also affect the children’s attitude to school
attendance and possibly the achievements of some of them at school.

As a teacher I’ve seen that the location, environment and the school sites affect the behavior
of the learners. That’s why it is very important that the top management carefully plan where
the school must be place. Some instances that attitude of the learners was adopted from its
environment, if the school was located in place where leisure is surround such as billiard
place, computer shop and mall, some learners might go to that place instead of school and
will lead to cutting classes. We must considered also that school should be accessible to
everyone since our main objective is making sure that everyone will have education or
education for all.

The school buildings
1. Cite the salient features of the topic discussed today
Physical environment is a major concern when planning hospitals and prisons, it is often disregarded
when creating schools. Many school buildings, particularly in secondary schools, have suffered from
years of neglect due to a lack of scientific evidence on the value of the school environment. The age of
the structure, lighting, color, noise, graffiti, cleanliness, and pupil density are all proven to influence
learning. Future studies should take a more comprehensive approach to studying the factors that
influence student accomplishment, including the physical environment. According to the findings,
students should be involved in the design and maintenance of school buildings and grounds to ensure
that they satisfy their needs.

Two avenues of inquiry were pursued during the year-long investigation. The first was student
information, such as age, gender, and math, reading, and writing performance levels at the beginning
and conclusion of the academic year. The second looked at the whole classroom environment, taking
into account factors including classroom orientation, natural light and noise, temperature, and air
quality. Flexibility of space, storage facilities, and organization, as well as the use of color, were all
considered. To determine what constitutes an effective learning environment, the holistic assessment
included both classroom design and use factors. Notably, the building environment parameters
examined in this study may explain 73 percent of the variation in kid performance at the class level.

2. Give your reaction or reflection regarding the topic presented?

According to a new study, the quality of school buildings can either aid or hinder learning and teaching.
As per the findings, well-designed buildings and pleasant surroundings can lead to improved attendance,
concentration, motivation, and self-esteem, all of which can increase performance. Helen Clark's famous
statement sums it all well. "Physical features such as light, space, furnishings, and equipment can make
people feel valued - or not, affecting their behavior and attitudes and potentially enhancing or
obstructing the learning process. Creating stimulating environments can raise parents' and teachers'
expectations and act as a powerful motivator in bringing about positive change."

Environmental quality, indoor and outdoor settings, furniture and furnishings, and building design all
contribute to a high-quality education. Our structures are developed to foster behaviors that enhance
teaching and learning, thus bridging the gap between quality education and the built environment. The
entire school plant should have a bright, appealing, and pleasant appearance. The school's surroundings
should be appealing and provide a stimulating environment for students to study and participate in co-
curricular activities more effectively. The school plant should be appealing to the eye. As a result, it is
critical for schools to have adequate infrastructure in order to boost student performance and the
school's system. Good design aims to imagine a campus that is well-placed in the landscape, with a
unified style throughout the architectural environment and well created social spaces. It also, crucially,
relates the constructed environment to the school's beliefs.

3. What is the implication of the topic to your present position?

There are numerous factors that influence teacher retention, but the majority of teaching takes place in
a specific physical location within a school building, and the quality of that site can effect teachers'
ability to teach, morale, and retention. Teachers' health and safety are extremely important. Despite the
necessity of school building maintenance, major flaws have been observed, particularly in large, urban
schools. Many elements influence the quality of a school building, which has an impact on the quality of
teacher life. The results of education Poor indoor air quality, for example, is ubiquitous, and many
schools suffer from "sick building syndrome," which increases student absenteeism and lowers student
performance. Since current student-focused asthma research demonstrate that students miss significant
school time due to poor indoor air quality.

Another factors affects students and teachers behavior is location of school building where there are
instances that they are located at place full of noise. The final facilities issue we'd want to bring up is
noise levels. The evidence linking acoustics and learning is clear and defined first is excellent acoustics
are essential for successful academic performance. There are three important findings namely schools
with less external noise have higher student achievement, outside noise causes increased student
dissatisfaction with their classrooms, and excessive noise increases stress in students. Noise levels in
classrooms and schools are equally important to teachers. Teachers believe that noise has a negative
impact on their students' academic achievement. External noise appears to make teachers more
uncomfortable and reduce their productivity than it does students. Again, according to our research,
schools are failing to offer this basic educational input.

School design also affects teachers and pupils because School designs that are effective offer secure,
innovative learning spaces that engage students, promote teaching and learning, and serve as a hub for
community activities. The most effective and inventive school designs, according to experts, result from
thorough consideration of both educational aims and local circumstances. Things makes it entertaining
for the kids and motivates them to come to school, which boosts attendance and student enthusiasm in
studying.

Students are more eager to learn, and their grades improve as a result. It also aids in the improvement
of classroom behavior. Students feel more motivated in class when their parents and teachers
communicate more; their self-esteem and attitudes in class improve. The benefit is available to people
of all ages. Teachers make abstract topics accessible to students by simplifying the complicated.
Teachers also introduce youngsters to concepts and topics that they might not otherwise encounter.
They can broaden their pupils' interests and encourage them to accomplish better. Make sure you
believe in their ability to succeed and that you push them to their boundaries. Encourage them to try
again and work harder even if they fail.

1. According to a new study, the quality of school buildings can either aid or hinder learning and
teaching. According to the findings, well-designed buildings and pleasant surroundings can
lead to improved attendance, concentration, motivation, and self-esteem, all of which can
increase performance. The ultimate goal of school construction activities is to provide
adequate space for good schools that are child-friendly and inclusive, as well as to attract
students, improve attendance rates, retention and completion rates, improve learning
achievement rates, and provide safe, welcoming environments for all children.
Equipment and furniture

School is an essential component of our life. It transforms us into civilised humans as a constant supply
of knowledge. Along with teachers and content, school furniture plays a vital part in creating a dynamic
learning environment. Their usefulness in assisting children in learning and exploring numerous sectors
of education cannot be overstated. Administer an educational institution and frequently neglect the
importance of school furniture in classroom design.

The significance of school furnishings cannot be overstated. It has a substantial impact on student
learning effectiveness. What effect does school furniture have on learning? The correct school furniture,
on the other hand, helps to kids' comfort, posture, and support, all of which improves their capacity to
concentrate and work. This provides opportunity for schools to boost student engagement by
concentrating on student furnishings. High tables, sit-stand tables, and tilt tables have all been identified
as useful learning aids. High-achieving students require classroom furnishings from an early age. It
emphasizes the importance of lightweight seats and desks for primary kids. Lightweight school furniture
makes switching between small group activities a breeze.

Everyone, whether a child or an adult, craves comfort when using furniture. Likewise, Classroom
Furniture Exporters must be able to comfortably accommodate students. Children have limited
attention spans, so it's critical to adjust to their preferences. Biological changes occur at a rapid rate
during that age range. As a result, when purchasing school furniture, their height and weight should be
taken into account. The more at ease they are, the more they will be able to concentrate on their
academics. Everyone, whether a child or an adult, craves comfort when using furniture. Likewise,
Classroom Furniture Exporters must be able to comfortably accommodate students. Children have
limited attention spans, so it's critical to adjust to their preferences.

Classroom furniture that is both comfortable and well-fitted enables for movement and promotes good
posture. These factors have a vital role in encouraging youngsters to learn and improving their academic
achievement. Too much movement was thought to degrade focus, but it was later discovered that
offering flexible furniture complements the body's natural tendency to shift and vary positions. We can
help kids learn more comfortably by accommodating that natural phenomenon. As a result, school
furniture plays an important role in creating a learning atmosphere that keeps kids engaged and
comfortable. Although highly qualified teachers and basic amenities are required for any school, it
cannot be regarded complete without school furniture.

Textbook and other instructional materials

The importance of textbooks and other learning and teaching resources in boosting learning quality and
student performance is well acknowledged. When you visit classrooms, you'll notice that most, if not all,
of them use a standard textbook series. The reasons for this vary depending on the curriculum's design
and focus, the administration's mandates, and/or the level of expertise among classroom teachers. A
textbook is a collection of the knowledge, concepts, and principles of a specific topic or course. usually
It's written by one or more teachers, college professors, or edutainment experts. Most textbooks come
with teacher guides that include additional teaching materials, ideas, and resources.

Textbooks offer various benefits in the classroom: Textbooks are especially beneficial for new teachers.
The topics to be covered and the layout of each lesson are meticulously detailed. Textbooks provide you
with well-organized work units, all the plans and lessons you'll need to cover a topic in depth, and a
balanced, chronological presentation of material. Textbooks are extensive instruction manuals that tell
you what to do and when to do it. There are no surprises because everything is clearly stated.
Administrators and instructors can get a whole program from textbooks. The series is usually based on
the most up-to-date research and instructional methods. Good textbooks are valuable educational tools
that benefit both teachers and students.

A textbook and supplementary materials are only as excellent as the teacher who employs them. It's
also crucial to realize that a textbook and other materials is just one weapon in your teaching armory,
albeit an important one. Teachers sometimes place too much reliance on textbooks and fail to examine
alternative teaching aids or materials. Some teachers reject a textbook-based learning strategy because
the textbook is obsolete or does not adequately cover a topic or subject area. As a teacher, you will have
to make several options, one of which is how you want to use the textbook and other supplementary
materials. Textbooks, as good as they may appear on the surface, do have some limitations. The table
below shows some of the most prevalent flaws in textbooks, as well as solutions to those problems.

FINAL EXAM

1. Given a chance to be a school administrator, what strategies will you use to

assist teachers in improving their instructional methods, and what kinds of
professional development would you recommend for faculty?

if I become an administrator, the strategy I will use to improve the instructional materials of teachers is
collective style all available resources will be used by teachers and will need to be developed or localized
to make it easier for learners to understand. Examples of this are learning resources produced by DepEd
commons, Etulay, DepEd youtube and various other websites that can be obtained. Self-produced video
lessons and activity sheets made by teachers can also be used. Different schools are also collaborating to
produce various learning resources and video lessons. This is a great help to meet all the needs of
teachers and students in learning resources. As a principals I will focus on the quality of
instruction in order to boost achievement. They assist in defining and promoting
high expectations, combating teacher isolation and fragmented effort, and
establishing direct contact with teachers and classrooms. I will also promote
ongoing professional development. They stress research-based ways to improve
teaching and learning and encourage team and individual teacher conversations
regarding instructional approaches. Despite the wishes of many teachers to be left
alone, they pursue these techniques. In practice, this implies that school
administrators must become intimately aware with the "technical core" of
education - what it takes to increase teaching and learning quality.
As a principal I’ll encourage my teachers for continuous education effort for
educators as form of teacher professional development. It's one technique for
teachers to develop their abilities while also improving student outcomes. It is
possible to learn in both formal and casual situations. Conferences, courses,
seminars, retreats, and workshops will also be part of the plan for their continuous
professional development. Independent study or investigation, peer learning
initiatives, or simply conversing with a colleague in the staff room are in line with
my teacher professional development. Instructors receive professional
development on a variety of levels, including district-wide, among teachers at a
specific school, and even in the classroom or individually. It goes without saying
that good teachers are more effective at instructing students. Instructors are
better suited to become successful teachers when they have access to ongoing
learning opportunities and professional development tools, especially whether
their pupils have special needs or are performing below or above grade level. "The
most successful professional development brings together groups of teachers to
focus on their kids' needs. They collaborate to learn and solve problems so that all
students succeed." Professional development can assist new and veteran teachers
get the confidence they need in the classroom. Professional development that is
effective helps teachers shape career-long learning. Teachers' professional
development and skills will be enhanced by ongoing training and seminars, as well
as encouraging them to pursue graduate studies.

2. What steps will you use to help maintain a safe learning environment?*

A safe learning environment encompasses all aspects of providing students with a

positive experience. To maintain safe learning environment students must feel protected. They
must be comfortable in order to participate. Teachers can do a variety of things to make their
classrooms feel safe and well-organized. To begin, ensure that the classroom is clean, tidy, and
welcoming. Examine classroom and determine whether it is a distracting environment or one
that encourages kids to perform their best. Distracting environments include papers on the floor
and items falling out of desks. Make it safe for students to interact and ask questions. Make it a
habit to reply with respect to anything a learner says. Respect yourself and your students, and
teach them to respect one another.
A secure learning environment includes keeping students safe from pandemics.
Different rules, standards, and regulations should be followed in order to keep our time at
school safe. Wash your hands frequently, always with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, to
protect yourself and others. Keep your hands away from your face, eyes, nose, and mouth.
Sharing cups, eating utensils, food, or drinks with others is not a good idea. Share what you've
learned about disease prevention with your family and friends. Sneezing or coughing into your
elbow and washing hands are helpful habits to model for younger family members. If you're
sick, tell your parents, another family member, or a caretaker, and ask to stay at home. In the
age of coronavirus disease, returning to school has taken on new significance and a new set of
concerns for parents and other caregivers (COVID-19). In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic,
schools must now balance the intellectual, social, and emotional requirements of their pupils
with the health and safety of students and employees.
During the school year and during a pandemic, schools may use one or several ways.
Being prepared for a range of school settings can help you and your child feel more empowered
and lessen worry. In each scenario, you can take actions to limit COVID-19 risks, ensure your
child's safety, and make educated decisions throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The physical location is vital, but the interactions between students, teachers, and the learning
community as a whole are equally crucial. It is much simpler to teach effectively in an orderly
and mutually respectful classroom, and one of the most essential things teachers can do to
enhance learning is to create classroom conditions where kids feel comfortable. It's especially
crucial to build a classroom where students feel comfortable asking questions and participating
to conversations if you're employing interactive tactics like small groups and cooperative
learning.

3. Given a chance to be a school principal in a particular school, how will you

ensure security in the implementation of the important concerns regarding
the school system? Discuss specific structure, policy guidelines, activities
and techniques you will be initiating as a school head.
School leaders serve as a vital link between educational authorities, teachers,
students, and communities. When the heart fails, the entire system fails, just like it does in our
own bodies. School administrators have been under tremendous pressure to put together an
emergency response to education in the event of a pandemic. They require more time and
energy in times of crisis than ever before to focus on the immediate difficulties. Due to the
increased workload and increased collaboration among stakeholders brought on by the
pandemic, school leaders may be required to work longer hours than statutory limits allow.
One of the techniques that I will use is peer collaboration between
teachers which is extremely effective because it improves teacher
relationships, allows teachers to share best practices, and allows new
teachers to learn from more experienced educators. In many cases, it's
especially beneficial if teachers teach the same subject or grade level.
Consider establishing a mentorship program or allowing novice instructors
to shadow seasoned teachers in the classroom. It will improve the quality of
education at school by doing so. As a principal I will Seek for the greatest possible
training in instructional management, organizational development, and change management -
all of which we know are important since being a principal requires a unique set of skills and
abilities. There's a larger knowledge base to capture, and not every place we go to improve our
talents will contain those parts. Find the right support and training as quickly as possible.
Approach this with the mindset of "I'm going to form a team." It isn't going to have to be just
me. My goal is to hone in on the expertise, talents, and capacities of the people with whom I
work, grow them, and bring them together.
As a principal they are responsible for not only coordinating methods to maintain
learning continuity throughout the lockdown and school closures, but also ensuring a safe
learning environment after schools reopened. If I will be a principal I will provide supportive
learning environments that help children grow and develop. To cultivate such an environment,
school leaders must manage and promote collaboration across the often complex network of
stakeholders: education authorities, teachers, students, parents and local communities. In a
sense, school heads are the glue that holds everyone together.
