Heroism
Heroism
The idea of a hero can be perceived in many different ways, mainly dependingon someone s personal life experiences. I believe, however, that a hero is anyone thatmakes a significant impact on someone s life, and can be looked up to as a role-model. To understand heroism we need to understand a hero.
One characteristic that defines a hero is their ability to help you through any situation. For this reason, I would classify my very closest friends as my heroes. Even in a situation that is almost unbearable, they still find a way to comfort me. I often have a difficult time expressing my words, however, they can sometimes help find these lostwords that I have difficulty finding, for they can relate to me in many different ways. Without them, life would be even more difficult than it already is. Aside from friends, I would also say my parents are my heroes. In spite of the fact that they are constantlyworking, they still do their best to guide me through things. In a sense, they are the essence of who I am. My siblings can also be considered my heroes too. My older siblings, for example, give me someone to look up to. They have done many things that can set a good example for me, and the actions that they are not proud of doing are theones I will choose not to make the same mistake. Although I may not like certain things about my family at times, I understand that they are always there for me to talk to, and are there to help me throughout my life. Aside from personal experience, there are many heroes who have changed ourlives, and have discovered things that we now take for granted.
For example Mahatma Ghandhi, Nehru, Subash Chandra Bose, Bhagat singh etc. These people have given up their lives for the sake of our country and for the sake of freedom. Their sacrifices are the reason we can call our country an independent nation. Some of them fought wars, other went on strikes and still others laid their lives. But all of these founders often go appreciated. There are many memorials and services dedicated to them but people rarely shown them any respect or concern.
As individuals and human beings, it is only natural for us to often not recognize who our heroes really are. Whether it is your family, friends, or people who have affected the entire world, we need to be thankful for our heroes, and take the time to understand that our lives would be even more difficult without them.
