How Time Management Affects Criminology Working Student’s Stress Levels and

Academic Results

Introduction

According to (Brigitte, Claessens, Ferde and Rutte, 2005) Time management plays a
vital role in improving student’s academic performance and achievements. Each and
every student should have time management ability which includes setting goals and
priorities, using time management mechanism and being organized in using time. Here
time management is only possible through self-motivation; performance, ability and
motivation.

Time Management is an essential skill for student, as it significantly affects both

academic achievement and personal well-being. With the demands of assignments,
exam, and extracurricular activities, managing time effectively allows students to
prioritize their task, minimize stress, and maintain a balanced academic and personal
life. Developing strong time management skills enables students to concentrate better,
avoid procrastination and complete task on time.

Time Management as a working student is essential for managing several obligations,

particularly for those working students in criminology who are working for their daily
needs. Among Criminology students who often face intense study loads. Time
management can become effective and crucial to individuals in preventing stress as
they balanced their academic and personal interest in life.

According to the studies student found Time management skills improve the academic
results of male but not female students when controlling for the usual effect of prior
academic ability. While previous research has revealed a positive link between time
management and academic results within civilian environments, there is a lack of
research on this link in dual military or employment and academic settings. Our
research also extends on many national and international studies by researching the
efficacy of a direct training intervention in time management skills. (Robert Wilson,
Keith Joiner, Alireza Abbasi) Journal of university Teaching and learning practice 2021
Furthermore time management is a process by which defined goals or objectives are
established, determining the tools that favor time management, keeping in mind the
time available verifying the use that is given to time; that is the perception of control that
individual has over the use of time. ( Herrero, Perello and Ribes 2019)

This research aims to know how ineffective time management can result in high levels
of stress, slow academic performance, and a decrease in productive criminology
students.

The study recognizes the unique challenges these students face due to the demanding
nature of their field and the need to balance work and studies. It examines how effective
time management can help reduce stress and improve academic results. The research
will likely explore various time management strategies such as prioritizing tasks,
creating study schedules, breaking down large assignments, and policymakers to
promote student success and create a supportive learning environment.
