CLASS VI

SUBJECT HOMEWORK

ENGLISH PROJECT WORK


Learning objectives-By the end of this project:

1.​ ​Students will understand what are verbs and how their forms
change to depict different tenses(time).

2.​ ​Students will learn new words, their meanings and use those
words while making sentences. It will help in enriching
vocabulary.

3.​ S
​ tudents will have the clear understanding of tenses.

4.​ ​Students will be able to create variety of sentence structures


using different tenses.

5.​ ​Students will be able to write a paragraph in logical


sequence.

ACTIVITY – Prepare a Portfolio

A)​ P
​ repare a chart of three forms of verb. A-4 size ruled sheets

B) ​Write at least 100 verbs and their three forms. (present/past/past

participle)

e.g. GO WENT GONE

C) Using these verbs and ​adding more write 3 paragraphs in


100-120 words.

D) ​All these paragraphs should be compiled and arranged in a

sequence to create a portfolio (Thin booklet).

Paragraph 1 Topic-: Braced up for the new class - lockdown


announced

(Depicting past tense)

(How excited students were to commence their classes in middle


school when the lockdown was announced).

In this students may express their excitement about coming to class


6 and how they had prepared themselves. They may write about their
anxieties, preparations and how they felt when the lockdown was
announced and they got to know that they could not go to school
soon.

Paragraph 2 Topic -: Virtual class room- A novel way of learning


.

(Depicting Present tense)

(How the definition of classroom has changed completely in the


present day)

In this students may write about the present day scenario where they
are dependent on computers and how the teaching-learning process
has changed completely. They can mention the pros and cons of this
new method of learning.

Paragraph 3 Topic -: Rejoice in hope- Waiting to go back to


school

(Depicting Future tense)

What do children expect from school when they join back, how
excited they are and how do they want to spend the remaining
session? Students can also mention the changes which they are
expecting to see in school.

Note: Students may use pastel/ coloured or plain sheets for the
projects. Try to create/ design folder for the same. Portfolios should
be aesthetically designed and work should be done very neatly. In
case the student doesn’t have access to stationery, he may submit
the soft copy of the same.

MATH

LEARNING OBJECTIVE

·​ ​Students
will be able to understand the implication of art in
Mathematics.

·​ ​Studentswill be able to learn, understand and imply the concepts of a


new topic which they will undertake in self study.

1.​ ​Make a card using ink string pattern as discussed in class. Show the
line of symmetry.

2.​ ​Selfstudy chapter 13 ( Symmetry) for presentation of key points/ terms


in class .

After going through the chapter do the following on an A4 size pastel


sheet or white paper.

i)​ ​Write 5 capital alphabets which has only horizontal line of


symmetry.

ii)​ ​Write 5 capital alphabets which has only vertical line of symmetry.

iii)​ ​Write 4 capital alphabets which has both vertical and horizontal
lines of symmetry.

iv)​ ​Write all the 10 digits and draw lines of symmetry where possible.

SCIENCE POSTER: (Compulsory for all students):

LEARNING OUTCOME​: To make students aware about the


current pandemic outbreak, its effect and forces in forefront
helping in tackling and overcoming the situation.

Prepare a poster on covid- 19 highlighting the role of


various heroes (doctors, nurse, policemen etc.) involved in
fighting this pandemic. It should be done in an A3
sheet/pastel sheet.

PROJECT: ​(Individual activity)

There are four projects. ​The allotment of the project is


done roll number wise. Each student has to do only
one project as per their roll number.

I. ​INDIAN FOOD DELICACIES AND ITS


INGREDIENTS (ROLL NUMBERS: 1-5 AND 21-25)
LEARNING OUTCOME​: The students will correlate the
ingredients used in our Indian foods and understand about
the nutrients that they generally obtain from it.

Prepare a chart on food items and ingredients used in


preparing them. The students have to list 4 food items (two
north Indian dishes and two south Indian dishes). This
should be done in a pastel sheet.

It should be tabulated in this manner.

Collage Making- Ensure that the project is done on an A4

delicacies by pasting pictures on one side of the sheet.

LEARNING OUTCOMES​: The students will understand the


importance of a balanced diet. This will also help the
student to understand that in their particular diet which
nutrient should be given more emphasis according to their
age. This will also help the child to prepare his/her own diet
plan to maintain a healthy life. ​Students will be able to
interpret and apply nutrition concepts to evaluate and
improve the nutritional health of their family.

Prepare a chart indicating the meal you take for a week.


This should be done in a pastel sheet. It should be
tabulated in this manner.

LEARNING OUTCOME: ​The student will be able to


acknowledge different fabrics around them. The detailed
study on particular fabrics will enhance their knowledge
about it. The study about the properties will help them in
upgrading their knowledge about it. The comparative study
between the types of fibre (natural and synthetic) will make
them understand the usage of a fabric in a particular
weather conditions.

A. Collect as many different pieces and scraps of fibre and


fabric. Gather information on one natural and one synthetic

4​. CHANGES AROUND US (ROLL NUMBERS


16-20, 36-40 AND 41-45)

LEARNING OUTCOMES: ​The students will correlate


the different changes taking place around them. The
student will be able to distinguish various events
occurring in their day to day life under different
categories of changes. Students will visualize that
new substances are formed, properties of the initial
substance have changed and new substances have
come in form.
Observe eight changes around you. Then tabulate those
changes in a pastel sheet and classify the events as
physical/chemical changes, reversible/irreversible changes,
slow/fast changes and desirable/ undesirable changes.

1)Project topic: ​Harappan Civilization
It is an individual project. You have to prepare a case
study on any one site of the Harappan civilization. It
should cover the following topics:
1. location
2. discovered by
3. importance of that site
4. description of any two artefacts found there
5. comparison of any one aspect of the site with its
present-day condition
6. mark that site on a political map of India and its neighbours
7. You can create a 3-d model of any artefact found in that
site using any material available.

2)Project topic- Egyptian Civilization *


​This is a group project consisting of 5-6 members only. Imagine
that you are a group of writers/journalists working for a
Bangalore based book company. Your project is to come up with
a Children’s book about Ancient Egypt.

Format of the book


1.Title Page​- Book’s title (be as innovative as you like)
2.Map/Geography​ – Draw a map of Egypt, locate these features:
Memphis, Cairo, Nile, Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, upper and
lower Egypt.
3.Chronology/timeline​ - of Pharaohs and queens, including King
Tutankhamen, King Ramses II, Nefertiti and Akhenaten, Queen
Hatshepsut, King Amenhotep IV also include the dates when they
ruled.
4. Daily Life​- What was everyday life like in Ancient Egypt?
Write one paragraph each about family life, education, food,
clothing, shelter, recreation, and religion.
5.Funerary Customs/Mummies​: How were mummies made?
List the steps involved in mummification
6. Rosetta Stone/Hieroglyphics​: Translate each of your group
member's names into hieroglyphics. Include them in your book.
7. Pyramids​: Draw a pyramid and label and describe the parts.
Describe how a pyramid was built. Make sure you answer these
questions:
● How big is a pyramid?
● How many blocks are used? How heavy are the blocks?
● How were they built?
● Name some of the well-known Egyptian pyramids.
8. ​Ancient Egyptian Occupations​: Choose an ancient Egyptian
occupation and describe the typical life for a person who
practiced that occupation.

*The work will be compiled in school later when the school


reopens.

1. Use A4 size sheets.
2. It should be a ​handwritten project​ (blue or black pen
should be used)
3. You can paste photos or draw diagrams.
4. Each illustration should be supported with a write up
relevant to it.
