CLASS - 11th SUBJECT – Physics
Maximum Marks: 20 Time: 1:30 hrs.
• All the questions are compulsory.

Multiple choice questions ( 0.5×4 = 2)

1. The components of a vector R along x axis will have maximum value, if

A. R is along positive y axis.
B. R is along positive X axis.
C. R makes an angle of 45 degree with the X axis.
D. R is along negative y axis.
2. Consider the quantities pressure, Power, energies, impulse,
gravitational potential, electrical charge, temperature, area out of
these the only vectors quantities are-
A. Impulse, pressure and area.
B. Impulse.
C. Area and gravitational potential.
D. Impulse and pressure.
3. A ball is travelling with uniform translatory motion. This means that-
A. It is at rest.
B. All parts of the ball have the same velocity( magnitude and
direction) and the velocity is constant.
C. The path can be straight line or circular and the ball travels with
uniform speed.
D. the centre of the ball moves with constant velocity and the ball
spins about its centre uniformly.
4. A body of mass 2 kg travels according to the law, x(t) =pt+qt^2+rt^3,
where q=4m/s^2, p= 3m/s and r=5 m/s^3.The force acting on the
body at t=2 second is
A. 136N
B. 134N
C. 158N
D. 68N

In the following questions 2 statements are given One is Assertion

(A) and the other is reason (R). Select the correct answer to these
questions. ( 0.5 × 2 =1 )

A. Both assertion and reason are true and real Is the correct explanation
of assertion.
B. Both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct
explanation of assertion.
C. Assertion is true but reason is false.
D. Assertion false but reason is true.
5. Assertion: Action and reaction forces do not cancel out each other.
Reason: It is because both do not act on the same body.
6. Assertion: Displacement vector is defined with respect to origin.
Reason: Position vector is defined with respect to origin.

These questions are case study based questions. Read the following
paragraph and answer these questions . ( 1×4 = 4 )

Newton has given 3 laws to describe the motion of objects. According to the
Newton’s first law when the net external force on a body is zero. Then the
body is either at rest or moving with constant velocity. The first law gives the
definition of inertia. Inertia means resistance to change in state of rest or
motion.

7. Name the property by which anybody tries to maintain its original

state.
8. why does a cricket player lower his hands while catching a ball.
9. An object of mass 50 kg is initially at rest. It gets the speed of 10
metre per second in 5 seconds. Calculate the force applied by engine
of car.
10. An object of mass 10 kg jumps on a floor. Calculate the average
force applied by the floor to the object.

Very short type questions (1 × 2 = 2)

11. Understand the triangle law of vector addition.

12. Define the impulse with its dimensional formula.

Short type questions (1.5 × 4 = 6)

13. A rocket with a lift off mass 20,000 kg is blasted upward with an
initial acceleration of 5 metre per sq. second. Calculate the initial
thrust of the blast.
14. A person of mass 50 kg stands on a weighing scale on a lift. If
the lift is descending with a downward acceleration of 9 met sq.
second. What would be the reading of the weighing scale?
(g=10m/s^2)
15. Two Forces whose magnitude are in the ratio 3 : 5. If the angle of
their inclination is 60°. Then find the magnitude of each force.
16. Cricketer can throw a ball to a maximum horizontal distance of
100m. With the same speed how high above the ground can the
cricketer throw the same ball?
Horizontal range is maximum when angle of projection is 45°.

Long type questions (2.5×2=5)

17. Derive maximum velocity of circular motion of a particle at

banked road.
Or
State the newton's 2nd law of motion. Derive F = ma.
18. Explain the dot product or scalar product.
Or
Derive the relation between linear velocity, v and angular velocity, w.
( V = rw )
