A Detailed Lesson Plan in Grade 7 Mathematics

Geometry

Teacher John Eric D. Saymo Grade 7

Date February 14, 2024 Learning Area Mathematics
Time Quarter 3

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of the key concepts of geometry of
shapes and sizes and geometric relationships

B. Performance Standards The learner is able to create models of plane figures and formulate and
solve accurately authentic problems involving sides and angles of polygon.

C. MELC with Code The learner derives relationships of geometric figures using measurements
and by inductive reasoning; supplementary angles, complementary angles,
congruent angles, vertical angles, adjacent angles, linear pairs,
perpendicular lines, and parallel lines. M7GE-IIIb-1
D. Objectives At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
1. Describe parallel, and perpendicular lines.
2. Illustrate parallel, and perpendicular lines
3. Participate actively during class discussion

with 85% proficiency.

II. CONTENT Illustrating Parallel Lines, Perpendicular Lines, and Intersecting line
III. LEARNING RESOURCES

IV. PROCEDURES
Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity
A. Preliminary 1. Prayer
Good morning class Good morning, sir

Before we start our class today, let’s pray first. (Students will pray)
____ please lead the prayer.

2. Greetings
Once again, good morning class

How are you today? We’re okay sir

Are you ready for our new lesson today? Yes sir!

3. Checking of attendance
Class monitor, how many is absent? No sir

No one is absent, very good.

4. Cleaning
Before we start our class, kindly pick-up
pieces of papers under your chair

5. Motivation
Since yesterday was Valentine’s Day. Let me
share you something. There are different
types of love stories.

May mga taong itinadhana para sa isa’t-isa.

May mga taong pinaglapit, pero hindi
nagkatuluyan, friend zone kung baga.
Mga taong pinagtagpo, pero nag hiwalay.
May mga taong pinagtagpo pero hindi
tinadhana.

Ga’non talaga, ang buhay. Not all love stories have

a happy ending.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Activity Moving on, let’s go back to our lesson.

I have here set of pictures; I want you to take a

look at it. Observe it properly, I have some
questions later on.

Are you now ready? Yes sir!

2. Analysis Okay times up!

What do you observe? UA library, cyclone wire fence,

electric post, two orange road lines.
What is the meaning of the two-orange line on There is absolutely no passing or
the road? crossing the double solid yellow
line at any time.

How about the post? Electric wires

What does it look like? A cross

Very good!
3. Abstraction Now let’s connect this activity to our lesson for Illustrating parallel, intersecting, and
today, which is, illustrating parallel, intersecting, perpendicular line.
and perpendicular line.

Based on our activity, what do you think is parallel

line? Do you have any idea? Non sir

Parallel lines are, please read. Parallel lines are those lines that are
equidistant from each other and
never meet, no matter how much
they may be extended in either
direction.

Parallel lines are lines that has an equal distance,

but they never meet each other.

For example, I have here two lines

A B
C D

We read this as line AB is parallel to line CD.

Or we could be written in symbol AB‖ ´ CD ´

This is an example of parallel lines that we can see

around.

Another example

E F

G H
How do we read this? Line EF is parallel to line GH

Now let’s define intersecting line.

Please read. Intersecting lines are two or more
lines which share exactly one
common point
Intersecting lines are two or more line that as an
intersecting point. They have only one
intersecting point.

Example

How do we read the figure above? Line AD intersect line BC sir.

Very good, it is read as line AD intersect line BC at

point E.

This is the example of intersecting lines.

Any clarification? Non sir

Now let’s proceed to perpendicular lines.

Please read.
Perpendicular lines are lines that
intersect at a 90 degrees angle.

Perpendicular lines, are intersecting lines that has

a 90°or right angles

Example

Line AB is perpendicular to line BC

sir.
How do we read this?

In symbols we write it this way

´ ⏊ CD
AB ´ . Point E sir.

What is the point of intersection?

Very good.
Example of perpendicular lines Non sir.

Is there any clarification?

It is clear to you the difference between parallel,

perpendicular, and intersecting line?
Generalization Well, let see.

What is parallel line? Parallel lines are two lines that are
equal distance, and do not intersect.

How about perpendicular line? Two lines meet at one point and
form 90° angles sir.

How about intersecting line? Two lines meet at any point sir.

Now, identify whether the following shows

parallel, intersecting or perpendicular lines.

L O

V E Parallel lines
e

Perpendicular lines
1. Application Very good!

Since you already know the difference between

parallel, intersecting, and perpendicular lines.

Now, try to look the object around you, together

with your seat mate, draw things or object that
represent parallel, perpendicular and interesting
line within 5 minutes.

Any clarification? No sir.

V. Evaluation
Write the letter of the correct answer.
1. Which pair of lines are parallel lines?

b. \\\/\ c. d. e. \\\/\
\\\/\
\\\/\ \\\/\
\\\/\ \\\/\

2. Which of the following shows perpendicular lines?

3. Which situation tells about parallel lines?

a.Capital letter L
b.A Corner of a table
c. Hands of a clock at 6:00
d.Striped t-shirt

4. Which is not a true statement?

a. two intersecting lines meet at one point.
b. Perpendicular lines form square corners.
c. Parallel lines do not meet.
d. Intersecting lines do not cross each other.

5. Which is true about the figure?

a. d ‖e b. d ⏊e c. d ‖f d. d ⏊f
