PARAMETERS DESCRIPTION

Conf
Confidence in forecast. Subjective view of the duty forecasters. Given as High, Medium or Low.
Dir
The mean compass direction from which the wind is blowing.
Ws10m
Forecasted Wind Speed. The wind speed averaged over 10 minutes at 10 m above surface level.
Wg10m
The maximum 3-second wind gust at 10m above surface level. The gust is typically between 1.25 and 2 *ws10.
Ws50m
The wind speed averaged over 10 minutes at 50m above surface level.
Wg50m
A sudden significant increase in or rapid fluctuations of wind speed 50m above surface. The duration is usually less than twenty seconds. Typically equal to 1,5 times
the wind speed at 50 m, but the factor is highly depending on the weather situation. In turbulent showery weather gust factors can exceed 2 times the average winds.
Hs
Forecasted significant wave height. Equal to four times the standard deviation of the sea state. Also approximately equal to the mean of the 1/3 highest waves.
Hmax
Maximum individual wave height from peak to trough. Typically is 1.6 - 1.7* Hs over a 1-hour period and 1.8-2.0 for a 3-hour period.
Tz
The mean wave period of the sea state. The average period of time between successive wave crests.
Tp
The spectral peak period, which is the most energetic part of the wave spectrum.
Dir
The mean direction of the windwaves, defined as the compass direction from which the waves are coming.
H
Significant wave height of the windwaves. Equal to four times the standard deviation of the windwave sea state.
T
The mean wave period of the windwave component.
Dir
The mean direction of the swell, defined as the compass direction from which the waves are coming.
H
Significant wave height for swell. Equal to four times the standard deviation of the swell part of the sea state.
T
The mean waves period of the swell component.
T2m
Air temperature at 2 m above the surface.
Vis
Horizontal visibility. Maximum value is 10 km /10000 m / 5.4 miles indicating clear conditions.
