Symptom
You want to use serial number functionality in BAPIs belonging to SD sales order processing, e.g.
BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2

Reproducing the Issue


Create sales orders using BAPI interface.

Cause
BAPIs have restricted usability compared to online transactions e.g. VA01. For further information please see SAP note:
414058

Resolution
Serial number functionality cannot be used together with BAPIs belonging to sales order processing. It is a missing
functionality in standard SAP systems.
A possible workaround could be the use of the function module SERNR_ADD_TO_AU. This function module could be used
to add serial number to existing sales order items. However, this function module is not released for customers, therefore
restrictions of SAP note 109533 apply:
"SAP does not support problems that occur if the customer used
non-released function modules.
