SCHEDULE OF SPORTS ACTIVITIES FOR


S.Y 2023-2024

TO: ALL SCHOOL HEADS, TECHNICAL OFFICIALS,


COACHES

1. The 1987 Philippine Constitution under Article XIV, Section 19, mandate all
educational institutions to undertake regular sports activities throughout the country
in cooperation with athletic clubs and other sectors.
2. AS PER DIVISION MEMORANDUM NO. 196 s. 2023 promotes physical
education and encourage sports program league competitions, and amateur sports,
including training for international competitions to foster self-discipline, teamwork,
and excellence for the development of a healthy and alert citizenry.
3. In line with this mandate, this Office sets schedule for the Sports Activities as
follows:
School Level – October 13-14, 2023
District Meet – October 20-21, 2023
Municipal Meet – November 10-11, 2023
Legislative District Level – November 24-25, 2023
Isabela Athletic Association Meet – February 6-10, 2023
4. The Identified Events for both Elementary & Secondary are as follows:
1. Basketball - Boys & Girls
2. Athletics (runs, jumps, throws) Boys & Girls
3. Swimming – Boys & Girls
4. Chess – Boys & Girls
5. Badminton – Boys & Girls
5. Athletes must have undergone the Physical Fitness Test and found to be
physically fit in joining sports activities.
6. Age requirement for athletes are the following
Elementary: Born January 1, 2011
Secondary: Born January 1, 2006
7. Techers who will be assigned as coaches and officiating officials shall earn
appropriate Service Credits while Non-Teaching Personnel shall earn
Compensatory Time Off (CTO) for services during weekends.
8. Enclosure 1: List of Technical Official, Trainors, Coaches for the said events
Enclosure 2: Contextualized Guidelines in the conduct of Sports Activities.
9. Immediate dissemination of this memorandum is earnestly desired.

Contextualized Guidelines in the Conduct of Sports Activities from the School to
Higher Level of Athletic Meet
1. Athlete must be a Pilipino Citizen enrolled in a public, private recognized school,
(schools with recognition/permit to operate or in Philippine School Overseas (PSO) at
the beginning of the current year and have attended and completed the curriculum year,
regardless of the delivery mode of learning, except those enrolled under Alternative
Learning System.
2. Must be an Official Member of the registered School Sports Club and have undergone
the Physical Fitness Test (PFT).
3. In case of transfer of learner athlete from one region to another region, a one-year
school residency requirement is imposed and shall commence at the beginning of the
school year except for those who are incoming Grade 7 and Grade 11.
4. In case of transfer of learner athlete from one school to another school within the
division or from one division to another division within the region concerned, the one
(1) year prohibition shall not apply.
5. Schools shall organize their sporting events based on their strengths and available
resources such as sports equipment, trainers and qualified coaches including
playing/training grounds.
6. For team events, a Winner Take All Policy shall be implemented in all levels of sports
competition; (Athletes must be enrolled in one school only).
7. Preparations including the training of athletes shall be done after class hours or during
weekends to avoid disruption of classes as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 34, s. 2022.
8. Adherence to the provisions of DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 (Instituting Measures
Increase Engaged Time On Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith) and Child
Protection Policy is hereby enforced during the preparations and practices of student-
athletes. Affected school days during the game proper from School to Division Level
shall be replaced with Saturdays to offset the missed classes.
9. Ensure the presence of Medical team and DRRM personnel in all levels of sports
activities
