ORDER
As per the University Order read (1) above, the University has introduced a new grade, Low
Pass Grade (LP) designed to benefit students who achieve at least 40% in the End Semester
Examination (ESE) but fall short of the pass threshold due to low Continuous Internal Examination (CIE)
marks.
Subsequently, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor has ordered to place the following matters regarding
implementation and integration of "Low Pass Grade" into Grading System, before the Academic
Council.
Discussion on modifying regulations for the specified programs to include the Low Pass Grade.
Approval to incorporate LP into Consolidated Grade Cards and other official documents.
As per vide read (2) above, the Academic Council considered the matter as item no: 027.03.12 in its
27th Meeting and resolved as below.
I. The Academic Council approved the modifications as proposed, to the following regulations
1. Clause 6 (q) of the B.Tech 2015 Regulations
2. Clause R-6.16 for B.Tech 2019 regulations
3. Clause 07 (O) for B.Arch. 2016 Regulations
4. Clause R6.(19) B.Arch 2021 Regulations
5. Clause 07 (O) for B.Tech (Evening) 2016 Regulations
Modifications of Regulations:
BTech 2015 scheme
1.Clause 6 (q) of the B.Tech 2015 Regulations including Low Pass Grade are modified as:
Grades and Grade Points
Grades Grade Point (GP) % of Total Marks obtained in the course
O Outstanding 10 90% and above
A+ Excellent 9 85% and above but less than 90%
A Very Good 8.5 80% and above but less than 85%
B+ Good 8 70% and above but less than 80%
B Above Average 7 60% and above but less than 70%
C Average 6 50% and above but less than 60%
P Pass 5 45% and above but less than 50%
LP Low Pass 4 ESE mark 40% and above but less than 45%
F Fail 0 Less than 40%
FE Failed due to eligibility criteria 0 -------------

B.Tech 2019 Scheme

A+ Excellent 9 85% and above but less than 90%
A Very Good 8.5 80% and above but less than 85%
B+ Good 8 70% and above but less than 80%
B Above Average 7 60% and above but less than 70%
C Average 6 50% and above but less than 60%
P Pass 5 45% and above but less than 50%

II. The Academic Council also noted that the regulations for BTech (Part Time) 2020 scheme is same
as that of the BTech 2019 scheme.
III. The Academic Council also resolved to include the Grade definitions as above in the respective
Consolidated Grade Cards, Official Transcripts and other similar documents.
Considering the whole matter in detail, sanction has been accorded by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor
to implement the resolution of the item no.027.03.12 of the 27th meeting of the Academic Council,
subject to reporting to the Board of Governors.
Orders are issued accordingly.
