Windows/File Management Quiz

1. On the Documents folder create 3 folders named as follows:


 Your name, for example Alvin Lee
 Cumberland County College
 Quick Check Questions

Here are the three new folders, Alvin Lee


and Cumberland County College, Quick
Check Questions.

Note that the folders are displayed in both

2. Create three separate Microsoft Word documents with the following filenames:
 One
 Two
 Three
and save each file into the folder named your name.

The three Word files saved into your folder.


3. In your folder create the following sub folder:

 Practice

The sub folder Practice.

Note that the folder is displayed in both panes.

4. In the Cumberland County College folder create the following sub folder:

 File Management

The subfolder of Cumberland County


College named File Management.

Note again that the same folder is displayed in


both panes.

5. In the Practice folder (which is a sub folder of your folder)


save a Word document with the filename:
 Four

The file named Four saved in the Practice


folder (which is a sub folder of your folder).

6. In the
File Management folder create and save a Word
document named:

 Five

The file Five saved in the File Management folder


(which is a sub folder of the Cumberland County
College folder).
Note the plus symbol next to your folder which
indicates it has a sub folder (Practice).
7. Cut and paste (move) the file One from your folder into
the Practice subfolder.

The file One has been cut from your folder and
pasted into the Practice folder.

now shows the sub folder (Practice).
8. Cut and paste (move) the file Two into the subfolder File
Management. Can you remember which folder it is in?

The file Two has been cut and pasted into the
File Management folder

9. Cut and
paste (move) the folder Cumberland College into your
folder so that it becomes a sub folder of your folder.

The Cumberland County College folder is now a


sub folder of your folder.

Practice was already a sub folder of your folder.


10. Rename files and folders as follows:

 Three – to become Name Change


 One – to become Football
 Practice – to become Homework

The Practice folder renamed as Homework

11. Copy and paste the file named Two, (it should be in the
File Management folder), into the Cumberland County
College subfolder. The file should now be in both
Cumberland County College and File Management.
