4 E’s LESSON PLAN IN Discipline and Ideas in Applied Social

Sciences

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the learners must be able to:
a.) Define Counseling.
b.) Recognize the roles and functions of counselors.
c.) Identify the specific work areas where counselors work.

II. CONTENT: Professionals and Practitioners in Counseling

CONTENT STANDARD:

The learners demonstrate an understanding of the various Roles,


Functions, and Competencies of Counselors.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD:

The learners shall be able to

 Demonstrate a high level of understanding of the basic concepts of


counseling through a group presentation of a situation in which
practitioners of counselor work together to assist individuals, group, or
communities involved in difficult situations (e.g. Bullying, Teenager’s
Suicide, Compulsive gambler, Battered wife, Poor academic
performance.)

LEARNING COMPETENCY:

The learners shall be able to

 Show understanding of the roles and functions of counselors.

A. ENGAGE
1. Present to the students a picture representing/resembling counseling.
 Group Activity- Fix Me Up Challenge)- What is Counseling?

Divide learners into two (2) groups. Each group will be given a cartolina,
permanent marker and an envelope containing jumbled letters of the
word Counseling. Once they figure out the word, they will paste it unto
the cartolina and write a brief idea about the word. They will be given five
(5) minutes to complete their work. Each group will post their work on the
board and will choose a member to explain their output in front.

B. PRESENTATION
Present a visual aid showing the topic that we are going to tackle:
Counseling and its definition.
1. Base on the picture shown to you. What would be our lesson for today?

C. EXPLORE

 Group Activity–Act Me Up) – Deepening of discussion on roles and


functions of counselors base on their competencies.
The class will be divided into three (3) groups. Each group will have a
representative to pick a scene that they’re going to act. And they’re going
to apply the counseling. They will role play any of the following: Bullying,
Teenager’s Suicide, Compulsive Gambler, Poor Academic Performance
and Battered Wife. The learners will be given Ten (10) minutes to
complete the task. Five (5) minutes to practice and the remaining five (5)
minutes is for the final performance.

D. EXPLAIN
Show a visual aids in front referring and discussing about the roles
andfunctions of counselors.
E. ELLABORATE

Present to the class a small box which will contain strips of paper of
careeropportunities or specific work of a counselor. Each learner will take
turnspicking inside the box. They must provide or identify which specific
workarea it does belong, whether it is in industrial, school and clinical. The
boxwill rotate among the learners until all the strips of papers are answered.
