INTERNSHIP WORK RESPONSIBILITIES

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

During my two-month internship at Mehta Excel Private Limited, I was placed in the Human Resources
department with a specific focus on the recruitment and selection processes. My role as an HR Intern was
designed to provide me with hands-on experience in various aspects of HR, allowing me to apply the
theoretical knowledge gained during my academic studies to real-world scenarios.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As an HR Intern, my responsibilities were multifaceted and required me to engage in various activities that
are critical to the recruitment and selection process. These included:

1. Resume Screening and Shortlisting:

One of my primary tasks was to assist in the initial screening of resumes. This involved reviewing
applications against the job descriptions and requirements provided by the hiring managers. I was
responsible for shortlisting candidates who met the basic qualifications and forwarding their resumes to the
next stage of the recruitment process.

During the tenure of the internship, I contacted around 300 candidates for initial screening. Out of these
around 50 were shortlisted by me in which 21 got selected for the job.

2. Coordinating Interviews:

Another key responsibility was to coordinate the interview process. This involved scheduling interviews
between candidates and the interview panel, ensuring that all parties were informed and prepared. I also
managed the logistics of the interviews, such as booking meeting rooms and arranging any necessary
equipment.

3. Conducting Preliminary Interviews:

I had the opportunity to participate in conducting preliminary interviews with candidates. These interviews
were designed to assess the candidates' suitability for the positions they applied for, focusing on their skills,
experience, and cultural fit with the company. This experience allowed me to develop my interviewing skills
and gain a deeper understanding of what makes a candidate a good fit for a role.

4. Evaluating and Analyzing Recruitment Processes:

In addition to the hands-on tasks mentioned above, I was also involved in evaluating the effectiveness of the
current recruitment processes at Mehta Excel Private Limited. This involved analyzing data from previous
recruitment cycles, identifying any bottlenecks or inefficiencies, and proposing improvements to streamline
the process.

5. Participating in HR Meetings:

I regularly attended HR meetings where we discussed ongoing recruitment efforts, challenges faced by the
team, and strategies for improvement. These meetings provided me with valuable insights into the strategic
aspects of HR management and the importance of aligning recruitment efforts with the company’s overall

understanding of the recruitment landscape.

Skills Acquired During the Internship

1. Resume Screening and Shortlisting –

o Attention to Detail: Developed the ability to meticulously review resumes, identifying relevant
qualifications, experiences, and skill sets that matched the job requirements. This task required a
sharp eye for spotting key information, even in lengthy or complex resumes.

o Data Management: Gained proficiency in handling large volumes of resumes, organizing them
systematically, and ensuring that all relevant candidate data was recorded accurately for further
stages of the recruitment process.

2. Interview Coordination and Conducting –

o Scheduling and Logistics Management: Learned to efficiently coordinate interview schedules,

taking into account the availability of candidates and interviewers, and ensuring that all necessary
arrangements were in place for a smooth interview process.

o Communication Skills: Enhanced verbal and written communication skills through frequent
interactions with candidates and team members. This included sending out interview invitations,
follow-up emails, and communicating feedback.

o Interviewing Techniques: Acquired practical interviewing skills, including crafting effective

questions, assessing candidate responses, and making objective evaluations based on predefined
criteria. This also involved learning to maintain a professional yet approachable demeanor during
interviews.

o Analytical Thinking: Engaged in a project focused on improving the recruitment and selection
process, which required analyzing past recruitment data to identify inefficiencies and areas for
improvement. This enhanced my ability to think critically and approach problems methodically.

process, such as the integration of automation tools for resume screening, leading to more
efficient and accurate candidate selection.

4. Documentation and Process Standardization –

involved researching best practices, consulting with senior HR professionals, and compiling the
information into a cohesive document. This task sharpened my ability to gather, synthesize, and
present information clearly.

on projects that required adherence to company standards and procedures, ensuring that
recruitment processes were consistent across departments.

department, demonstrating a willingness and ability to learn new processes and tools, which is
crucial for continuous professional growth.

These skills have not only enhanced my HR expertise but have also equipped me with a versatile skill set
that will be valuable in any professional setting.

Projects and Contributions

One of the most challenging yet rewarding projects I worked on was an analytical study aimed at
improving the recruitment and selection processes within the company. This project involved extensive
data analysis, where I reviewed past recruitment data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for
improvement. I was able to apply my analytical skills to suggest process enhancements that would make the
recruitment cycle more efficient.

In addition to this, I contributed to the development of a guide for interviewers, aimed at standardizing the
interview process across different departments. This guide included best practices for conducting interviews,
which I compiled after researching industry standards and consulting with senior HR professionals. This
project not only improved the consistency of the interviews but also ensured that all candidates were
evaluated on a level playing field.
