CHAPTER I

Introduction

Examining how social media use affects mental health is the


main focus of this study. In a time when social media is now a
necessary component of everyday life for billions of people
globally, it is critical to comprehend how social media affects
mental health. Numerous methods for connecting, sharing and
communicating are available to users on social networking sites,
including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. Alongside the
advantages, though, worries have been raise regarding possible
detrimentalk effects on mental health. Overuse of social media,
for example, has been connected to addiction, anxiety, sadness,
and feelings of inadequacy. Furthermore, problems like social
comparison, cyberbullyinh, and exposure to unaatainable norms
can make mental health concerns worse.
The importance of this study is to understamnd how social
media deeply itegrated in modern life, shaping how adolescents
perceive themselves and interact with others. By examining its
effects on mental health, this study contributes to a deeper
understanding of the psychological consequencies of digital
technology.
The motivation behind why the researcher chose this study
stems from a genuine concern for the well-being of adolescents in
the digital age. The researcher witness the extensive influence of
social media on daily life and observing its potential effects on
mental health prompted a desire to delve deeper into this
phenomenon.
Purpose. To the end of the introduction use another
paragraph to discuss the objectives of the research.
