Limited Warranty
Seller warrants articles of its manufacture against defective materials or workmanship for a period of one year from the date of shipment to Purchaser, except as provided in any warranty applicable to Purchaser on or in the package containing the Goods (which warranty takes precedence over the following warranty). The liability of Seller under the foregoing warranty is limited, at Sellers option, solely to repair or replacement with equivalent Goods, or an appropriate adjustment not to exceed the sales price to Purchaser, provided that (a) Seller is notified in writing by Purchaser, within the one year warranty period, promptly upon discovery of defects, with a detailed description of such defects, (b) Purchaser has obtained a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) from Seller, which RMA Seller agrees to provide Purchaser promptly upon request, (c) the defective Goods are returned to Seller, transportation and other applicable charges prepaid by the Purchaser, and (d) Sellers examination of such Goods discloses to its reasonable satisfaction that defects were not caused by negligence, misuse, improper installation, improper maintenance, accident or unauthorized repair or alteration or any other cause outside the scope of Purchasers warranty made hereunder. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Seller shall have the option to repair any defective Goods at Purchasers facility. The original warranty period for any Goods that have been repaired or replaced by seller will not thereby be extended. Compatibility
AdminManager is compatible with Unison Firmware Release 5.6 and earlier versions. New firmware releases have reclassified some faults as warnings or status messages, and some warnings as status messages. When the system contains a mix of old and new firmware versions, AdminManager can display a fault, warning, or status icon for the same problem depending on the firmware version of the unit.

SECTION 2
AdminManager Overview
AdminManager software runs on a PC/laptop. You can use it to configure, maintain, and query status of InterReach Unison, Accel, and MetroReach systems, locally or remotely. It allows you to: Configure a system Query system status Save event reports and logs
2.1
Reporting Alarms
InterReach Unison and Accel
AdminManager provides complete alarming for InterReach Unison and Accel, down to the field replaceable unit (that is, Main Hub, Expansion Hub, Remote Access Unit, Accel Hub) and the cabling infrastructure. Unison reports all alarms to AdminManager. AdminManager can filter these alarms to show: Faults Faults and warnings Faults, warnings, and status. Use AdminManager to query fault and warning status. The system communicates events to AdminManager using the hubs front panel serial port which connects directly to a PC or to a modem.
MetroReach
There are two configurations of MetroReach. One consists of a simple MFM/RFM link. The second, identified as Prism, consists of a MFM/RIM link as well as multiple remote sectors.
D-620020-0-20 Rev G
2-1
AdminManager Overview
The term MetroReach identifies either configuration, but Prism is used when information is specific to a MetroReach configuration with sectors. AdminManager provides complete alarming for MetroReach Prism, down to the field replaceable unit (MFM, RIM, PMM, SMM, and RSMs). MetroReach reports all alarms to AdminManager. AdminManager can filter these alarms to show: Faults Faults and warnings Faults, warnings, and status Use AdminManager to query fault and warning status using the MFMs front panel serial port. You can also directly connect to the RIMs front panel serial port for local maintenance.
2.2
Connectivity
Figure 2-1 shows different AdminManager connectivity options. AdminManager can ONLY communicate with one system using one connectivity option at a time: You can access InterReach Unison, Accel, and MetroReach directly using a NULL modem cable connected to the PCs serial port (or an expansion serial port) and the Hubs front panel RS-232 port. For MetroReach, you can directly connect to the MFMs front panel RS-232 port or the RIMs front panel RS-23 2 port. However you cannot use certain commands when connecting to the R IM. Refer to Section 4.8. You can access InterReach Unison and Accel remotely using a modem connected through the public switched telephone network, or an Ethernet-to-RS-232 converter identified by an IP address. You can access MetroReach remotely using the modem connected to the MFM, but only for query purposes.

Schedule System Test allows periodic, automatic execution of the system end-to-end test. Just like Perform System Test, a Schedule System Test suspends normal service for the duration of the test; calls are dropped, and no new calls can be established during the test. Test duration depends on the configuration (number of Expansion Hubs and RAUs) and requires one or two minutes to complete. After completion of the system test, the scheduled system test time is updated to the next test time, and an event log entry is made. There is no battery backup on the Hub, so the current date/time clock resets to 00:00:00, 1 Jan 2000 on a power cycle or reset. The scheduled system test date/time and test interval settings are saved, but the periodic execution of the system test is disabled.
Figure 4-26
The Scheduled system test checkbox enables (checked) or disables (unchecked) the scheduled system test. To change the current date and time, click the Set System Time button. AdminManager considers the Next test time invalid if it is earlier than the Current system time. You can specify the test intervals in days, for 1 to 30, or in weeks, from 1 to 4. The OK tab updates the scheduled system test parameters and closes the dialog box. The Cancel tab leaves the current system test parameters unchanged and closes the dialog box.

If you are using a modem connection, local time may be different between the Hub and AdminManager. Remember that system time is the local time of the Hub.
NOTE: The software date/time clock is driven by the 106.6667 millisecond interrupt on the MC68HC812A4 micro controller. Hardware accuracy is 30 to 50 ppm (over temperature), which results in a 2.6 to 4.3 second error per day, or 1.2 to 2.2 minutes per month (30 days), or 15.8 to 25.2 minutes per year. The software clock should be resynchronized periodically to minimize drift. LGC recommends updating the current time a minimum of twice per year at daylight savings transitions, to resynchronize the software clock as well as reflect this shift in time.

Troubleshooting AdminManager
Table 6-1
Scenario Cant open port x! Port may be in use. System is off, cable is disconnected or has an incorrect COM port selected; check Connection Settings message is received immediately when the AdminManager starts.
Action Another application is using the COM port Make sure to power on the Main or Accel Hub for at least 2 to 5 minutes (depending on the size of system). Check the cable and connection; disconnect the cable, reconnect it and wait 1 minute to allow the Main or Accel Hub time to sense the change of state and then execute the Refresh System Status command if the status did not refresh automatically. Try another Null modem cable. Note: The null modem cable must support full hardware handshaking (refer to Appendix A).
Communication is attempted and System is off, cable is disconnected or incorrect COM port selected; check Connection Settings message is received after about 30 seconds. The AdminManager is asking for a password when trying to issue a device command. Command timeouts.
Cycle power to the Main or Accel Hub and wait 2 to 5 minutes, depending on the size of system, to reboot. If the message persists, replace the Main or Accel Hub.
The default password is password. If this is changed, ask the responsible person for the correct password. If password is lost, contact LGC support. Fiber communication problems between the Main Hub and Expansion Hub can cause significant command response delays. Try the command again.

Use File->New when moving between Main Hubs to keep data organized. Make sure filter preferences are set to faults, warnings, and status. Always save the logs from each session. A password is required when changes are attempted. AdminManager cannot diagnose disconnected devices, or devices with communication problems. The LEDs are the only means available for troubleshooting. After a system is commissioned, use the Get Service Information command to record the system configuration. This data can then be used as a baseline to compare to in the future.

Refer to Section , Edit Modem Initialization String, on page 4-17 for more details. On the wireless modem side, LGC recommended the following commands. The wireless modem should be configured for a data connection with a 9600 bearer in non-transparent mode (CICB=0 and CBST=7,0,1). ATS0=1 AT&D2 AT+ICF=2,2 AT+IFC=0,0 AT&S0 On the AdminManager side of the connection, LGC recommends the following initialization commands, assuming you are using a POTS modem: ATZ4 ATE0&N6 ATS0=1 LGC recommends you attempt to get the modem-to-modem connection working first using two PCs and a HyperTerminal. It is much easier to debug the link when you have easier access to the modem responses and can easily change the modem configuration from the keyboard. Once you have the link working, you can program the correct initialization strings into the Main Hub and AdminManager.
