Challenge Exercise(s)
You have now learned the workflows and processes in this workbook. You have began to store them into memory. You are now ready for a
Challenge Exercise.
Challenge Exercises are designed to further cement those same workflows and procedures into memory. This is accomplished by hands on
practice. They are not meant to be a step by step, directed, “click here” exercise but rather begin with a small amount of guidance and a
general understanding of the outcome.
It allows the learner to take charge of their own learning. We guide less, you explore more, it let’s you guide and deepen your personal
learning experience and realize the joy of self discovery.
If questions arise, they too can be answered by a Bentley Instructor, in our regularly scheduled MicroStation Ask the Instructor sessions.
We also encourage you to create your own versions of these exercises, using your own data based on your own unique experience.

Challenge Exercise: Extend the Project
For our Challenge Exercise we will create a Phase II. The project will be extended past the current End of Project.
Use the same symbology (attributes for level, color, line style, line weight) as for Phase I.
Create the project centerline for “Phase II”. This consists of a tangent line, curve, and a tangent line.
Create: Edge of Pavement, Roadway shoulder, Curb, Front and Back of Walk as from “Phase I”.

Create the curb returns using a 20’ [6.10m] radius. Possible tools to use may be the Break Element, Construct Circular Fillet, and Trim
to Element commands. Do this for the extension of Phase II as well as for the South and West Entrance Driveways.
