Xylar Series
Product Description:
Inorganic ceramic metallic basecoat (that can be used with or without a Xylan top coat) to provide an excellent
level of corrosion and/or abrasion resistance( >5000 hours possible when combined with Xylan topcoats). Xylar
2 is the cornerstone of a generation of hard, cermet finishes. Almost twice as hard as the best organics, it offers
a tough, sacrificial barrier to corrosion and wear. The Xylar series also offers several high temperature sealers in
addition to the standard Xylan topcoats.

of a range of Xylan topcoats. salt laden environments.
Typical End Use:
A wide variety of equipment and fasteners where high temperatures and exceptional corrosion resistance is
required and abrasive environments exist such as connectors, valves and downhole tooling.
Recommended Preparation:
Substrate: Degrease. Gritblast using aluminium oxide or shotblast.
Mixing: Mix material adequately before use - shake or stir until base solid material is dispersed.
Viscosity: Optimum results are obtained at ‘room temperature’ 15-30°C / 59-86˚F.
Other: To adjust viscosity refer to PDS.
Recommended Application Conditions:
Product designed for spray application (dip/rack spin variants are also available). Use a spray gun with a siphon
cup or pressure pot. Select a fluid nozzle and air cap that meet application needs. The proper amount of
coating should be achieved with two or three passes of the spray gun across the work piece. Apply the coating
to a uniform, full wet appearance. Flash of solvent at 100-150°C for 10 minutes. Please refer to the Whitford
