2. SCOPE
2.1. The scope of this procedure covers the general procedure for doors and windows installation.
The purpose of the documentation is to implement the procedure & to ensure that the quality
control aspects are maintained and accurate records are established.
2.2. The objective is to ensure that the construction plan is executed, controlled and documented
in compliance with Contract Drawings & Specifications
3. DOCUMENT CONTROL
3.1. This project procedure is a controlled document as required by the project quality plan and
issued in accordance with section 5 CONTROL OF DOCUMENTED INFORMATION.
3.2. Revisions of this document will be issued in accordance with the project quality plan CONTROL
OF DOCUMENTED INFORMATION when the main text changes or when an appendix is added.
Revised appendices for substitution will be issued separately and, where appropriate, will
include a separate schedule of contents.
4. DEFINITIONS, TERMS AND ABBREVIATIONS
4.1. NWC: National Water Company.
4.2. AWPT: Al Khorayef for Water & Power Technologies.

5. RESPONSIBILITY
5.1. Project Manager will ensure that the works have been carried out as per Project requirements
with regards to Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment.
5.2. Construction Manager will directly supervise the Land surveyor, the Project Engineer and
Foreman. He is responsible to ensure that all the correct procedure have been followed, and
that any necessary permits for the works have been obtained in advance He has full control
over the use of the labour, plant & equipment. He reports directly to the Project Manager.

5.3. Project HSE Engineer ensures that all operations are carried out in a safe manner and in
accordance with the minimum requirement set out in the health, safety and environmental
regulations and related documents.
5.4. Technical Manager ensures that the works are carried out as per the project IFC Drawings /
Shop drawings and technical submittals as required.
5.5. Site Engineer is responsible to ensure the works have been carried out as per approved
drawing and this Method Statement.
5.6. QA/QC Inspector/Engineer is responsible for ensuring the works are carried out as per
approved Method Statement, Specifications and the requirements of the Project.
5.7. Equipment Operator is the only authorized person to operate any equipment to be used in
the project.
5.8. Saudi Prefab Houses factory is responsible for supply and installation of metal doors as per
the specification, approved drawings and the requirements of the project.
5.9. IBRAD Contracting Co. is responsible for supply and installation of windows as per the
specification, approved drawings and the requirements of the project.

9. SEQUENCE OF WORKS
9.1. Site Planning & Preparation

10.1.2 All doors will be packed with plastic and cardboard protection to the edges.
10.1.3 Store flat over level surface above the floor on wood blocks.
10.1.4 Each door and frame are tagged with a sticker indicating the door number and location.
10.1.5 All doors and frames delivered with finished factory painting, if there is any paint damages
final touch will be at the site before handing over.
10.2.2 Anchoring: Install minimum four anchors per jamb. Locate the anchors at the hinges and as
close to the bottom as feasible, in the hinge jamb and in a corresponding position in the shim
strike jamb
10.2.3 Wall Preparation: Place the frame in the completed wall opening. Check for square ness.
Mark the wall through the holes in the jamb provided at the anchor points. Drill appropriate
holes at the marks. Install the sleeve anchors.
10.2.4 Frame installation: Insert bolts (3/8 in. flat head sleeve anchors must be sed on the fire rated

frames) through the frame soffit into the expansion shield. Shim behind anchors above bolts
to ensure a plumb frame
10.2.5 The methods of plumbing the frame and the use of the spreader noted under masonry wall,
also apply to this wall condition.
10.2.6 Tighten the screws continually check plumb, square and twist in the jambs as tightening
progresses.
10.2.7 Doors installation: After installation of frame doors will be installed and aligned properly.
10.2.8 Grouting of frames: Plaster guards and junction boxes are intended to protect hardware
preparations and tapped mounting holes from masonry grout of 4 in. (100 mm) max. slump
consistency which is hand toweled in place. If a lighter consistency grout (greater than 4 in.
(127 mm) slump when tested in accordance with ASTM C143) is to be used, special
precautions must be taken in the field to protect the hardware preparations. Any grout or
other bonding material shall be promptly cleaned off of frames or doors following
installation. Hollow metal surfaces shall be kept free of grout, tar or other bonding materials
or sealers. Grouting materials which require air to dry (cure) are not recommended for use
in any closed section, such as a mullion.
10.3.3 Reference line should be set up at appropriate location to facilitate proper alignment of the
wall openings and installation of the window frames.
10.3.4 Close dimensional control on wall opening should be exercised to ensure the gap between
the wall and window frame is within the range of 7-20mm wide.
10.3.5 Place the window frame and mark the location for anchors and drill appropriate holes at the
marks. Install the sleeve anchors.
10.3.6 Insert bolts through the frame soffit into the expansion shield. Shim behind anchors above
bolts to ensure a plumb frame.
10.3.7 Check the levelness and squareness of the installed frame by carrying out a diagonal
dimensional check as shown the figure
10.3.8 After fixing the window in their opening the glass doors will be installed.
10.3.9 Apply silicone sealant at aluminum window frame boundary. Cleaning is required before
applying silicone sealant to ensure that the contact surfaces are clean enough.

Important Note: This checklist has multiple sections. ALL Contractor Method Statements for construction works MUST be
accompanied by a completed, contemporary HSE Assessment Checklist in order to be accepted for the works to commence.
EACH TIME the checklist is used, ALL sections MUST be completed by the Contractor’s authorized, competent person (HSE
representative) and then the completed checklist must be given to the Supervision Consultant, who must highlight the checklist
with requirements for NWC work permit(s) associated with specific HSE risks expected to be encountered during the described
work activities.
Method Statement – must be drafted by the Contractor’s responsible person before passing it to the Contractor’s HSE
representative (pre-authorized, competent specialist in construction works HSE).
NWC Permit to Work – requirements for permits under NWC’s own system are to be highlighted on the checklist after the
Contractor’s HSE representative has recorded his assessment of the Method Statement.
