Lesson Plan in Mathematics 7

Teacher’s Name: Lyndee Star E. Ledda Date: July 16, 2024

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

a. define integers;
b. distinguish the rules of the basic operation in integers;
c. solve the given problems using the basic operation in integers;
and
d. discuss the importance integers in real life scenario through oral
recitation.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Operation on Integers

Materials: Cartolina, Colored Paper, Marker, Bond Paper, Laptop, Pojector
III. Procedures
A. Preliminary Activities
 Prayer
The teacher assigns the prayer leader of the day.
 Greetings
The teacher greets the students and inspires them to learn.
 Checking of attendance
The teacher checks and records the attendance of the students.
 Review
The teacher asks one student about the previous discussion.
 Motivation
The teacher conducts a game called "4 Pics, 1 Word". The class
should guess the word of the pictures provided by the teacher. The
student who guess first the correct answer is given an award.
B. Lesson Proper
A. Activity
The teacher conducts a game called "Group Me". The class is divided
into two. Each group are going to group the given numbers its either
positive number or negative numbers. After sorting the numbers, each
group are going to choose one representative to present and explain
their output. The teacher then check if their answers are correct.

Negative Positive
Numbers Numbers

B. Analysis
The teacher asks random questions to the class.
 What have you observed to the given problem?
 What learning have you discovered in doing such activity?Would
you be able to use this in your life? How and why?
C. Abstraction
The teacher posts a visual aid on the board and discusses the
following to the class:
The four (4) operations on integers.
 Addition
 Subtraction
 Multiplication
 Division

Addition

Rules in Adding Integers

To add integers having like signs:

a) Find their absolute values;

b) Add the number obtained in step a;
c) Attach the common sign of the integers to the answer in step b.
Example:
1. 2+2=4
2. -3+(-3)=-6
-3-3=-6

To add integers having unlike signs:

a) Find their absolute values;

b) From the obtained number in step a, subtract the smaller
number from the bigger number;
c) Attach the sign of the integers with the bigger absolute value to
the answer in step b.
Example: -2+3=1

Subtraction

Rules in Subtracting Integers

Subtracting the number (n) from another number is the same as

adding (n) to the other number.

Examples:

1. (-2)-(-2)=0
-2+2=0

2. 2-(-2)=4

2+2=4

Multiplication

a) To multiply two integers having unlike signs, find the product of

their absolute values. Attach the negative sign to the result.
b) To multiply integers with like signs, find the product of their
absolute values. The product will always positive.

Examples:

1. -5x3=?
|5|x|3|
15
-5x3= -15
2. 4x7=?
28
4x7=28

Division

a) To divide two integers with like signs, find the quotient their
absolute values. The result is always positive.
b) To divide integers with unlike signs, find the quotient of their
absolute values. Attach a negative sign to the result.

Examples:

1. -28÷(-70=?
|-28|÷|-7|
28÷7
=4
2. 18÷(-3)=?
18÷(-3)
|18|÷|-3|
18÷3
=6
D. Application
The teacher conducts a short exercises. The class is going to answer
the given problem on the board. After they finish answering, the
teacher is going to choose representatives to answer on the board.
After that, the teacher is going to check if the students answers are
correct.
1. 76 x (-4)=
2. (-30) - 3=
3. 56 ÷ (-2)=
4. 3 x (-19)=
5. (-21) + 9=

IV. Evaluation
The teacher gives problem on the board that student needed to solve.
Solve the following:
1. -118×3= 4. (-50)-(50)=
2. 55÷(-5)= 5. 60× (-60)=
3. -400+400=
V. Assignment
For their assignment, make their own five examples of each operation on
integers. Write it in a one whole sheet of paper.
