1. Who is the “Father of Algebra”?
a. Rene Descartes
b. Euclid
c. George Polya
d. Musa Al - Kwarizmi
Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi was a 9th-century Muslim
mathematician and astronomer. He is known as the “father of
algebra”, a word derived from the title of his book, Kitab al-Jabr.
One of his principal achievements in algebra was his
demonstration of how to solve quadratic equations by
completing the square, for which he provided geometric
justifications.

Euclid enters history as one of the greatest of all
mathematicians and he is often referred to as the father of
geometry. The standard geometry most of us learned in school
is called Euclidian Geometry. Euclid gathered up all of the
knowledge developed in Greek mathematics at that time and
created his great work, a book called 'The Elements' (300
BCE). This treatise is unequaled in the history of science and
could safely lay claim to being the most influential non-religious
book of all time. Source: https://explorable.com/euclid
René Descartes (1596–1650) was a creative mathematician of
the first order, an important scientific thinker, and an original
metaphysician. During the course of his life, he was a
mathematician first, a natural scientist or “natural philosopher”
second, and a metaphysician third. In mathematics, he developed
the techniques that made possible algebraic (or “analytic”)
geometry. He is often referred to as the Father of Analytic
Geometry

George Polya, Hungarian –
American mathematician and is
known as the father of modern
mathematical problem-solving. In
1945, he proposed a book "How to
solve it", in which he explains all
the four steps. According to Polya,
the sequence of all the four steps in
problem-solving is as:
